- This video, taken July 5, 2021, starts from the base of SR 431 Mount Rose Highway on the south side of Reno and heads up and over the summit of Mt. Rose and ends in Incline Village, NV at the northern shore of Lake Tahoe.

I remember as a kid of 10 in 1955, going through to and from Lake Tahoe to Reno when the roads were ALL under construction. We would have to stop for periods of time while BLASTING was done to widen the road for the NEW route. The roads were extremely narrow and dangerous. In fact, if anyone has ever seen "The Long Long Trailer," that's what it was like!" My folks had just bought a new Mercury, and the car was great on the road and certainly had to the power to climb to the over 6,000 ft altitude coming in from California. It was pretty exciting as a kid.
all these roads just imagine the history that went into the building of them that we take for granted now.

One of the most beautiful drives I've been on in my life, I wanna do it one more time
I've made that trip countles times and indeed it's a nice trip! By night it's also nice to come from full darkness to the city lights, its magical. I'd recommend also the trip from Sacramento to South Lake Tahoe by the US 50. The fisrt part of the trip is just flat and boring, but once you reach Placcervill/Apple Hill, it keeps on climbing with windy roads and pines trees, rivers until your reach the peak looking down at the lake, it's gorgeous too. US 80 is also a fun trip, big landscape and mountains, but the road is busier, it's a much larger highway

I was just thinking about the same trip last night. Tiffany Hadish is performing at the Cierra Hotel Reno, Nv. Thats where we stayed.
Nice views must of been a fun drive
No way we're not going again. It's beautiful and all. But if you are the driving after you get up there seeing all those bear signs and you have to come back down from the incline, baby its a scary drive.
