Ron, a great recovery and I hope it brings closure to the poor family. The awfulness of their tragedy is hard to imagine. I have to question your rigging early in the operation though. You started with a two part line from winch to Yankum back to skidsteer, so if you have say 10k pounds on the line from the winch you have 20k on the Yankum and then 10k on the skidsteer. You then went to a three-part rig, as far as I can see by adding a snatch block to the skidsteer and taking the standing part out to a tree. This can't increase the pull on the Yankum at all, as far as I can see all it does is double the load on the skidsteer and load the tree. So assuming again 10k pounds on the winch, you have 20k on the Yankum due to the double line, 20k on the skidsteer due to the double line, and 10k on the tree. It's not helping shift the wreck, and it's not reducing the load on the winch. Should you not have taken the winch line back from the skidsteer to the shackle on the Yankum rather than the tree? Perhaps I am missing something. Please be assured that this is not intended to be a criticism, I'm just puzzled about what you achieved by adding the extra block in that way. Regardless it was another fine job by you and the team, you are truly good people, God bless.
You are correct. The redirect off the skid steer to the tree only split the load on the skid steer and did nothing to increase the winch capacity. I know better and I'm not certain why I didn't realize it at the time. That's basic rigging, which, I'm normally very good at. Basic rule....Count the lines to the load. I didn't create the third line to the load. What I should have done was taken it from the tree, back to the skid steer and then back to the load. That would have put the majority of the load on the skid steer, which was well anchored, and reduced the load on the winch, but, I did not. Even if we had, I don't believe the winch would have had enough power. When we had the 9055XL on it, (a 50,000 lb winch) with the line fully unspooled, which is the highest pull rating on the winch, it still struggled with the little SUV. There is no telling how much that thing weighed with 5 years worth of silt and rock. We persevered and completed the recovery, hopefully bringing some closure to the family.
Yes, I saw that as well. The physics of it, put the third leg to the load. Regardless, that little winch would have never been able to free that as much as it was anchored in the creek bed. But more importantly, it was the teamwork, the perseverance and the spirit of everybody involved, To bring closure to that poor family. God bless everyone involved.
I wonder if a Hi-Lift Jack under the rear bumper hitch would have helped get the SUV up out of the creek bed making it easier to pull sideways and out. So sorry about this family's loss of an unforeseen tragedy... My prayers and well wishes go out to them. 🙏❤🩹
I didn't cry until I saw the rigs come back across the bridge where the car entered 5 years ago. It was like a funeral procession. Finally some closure for the family. Thank you Ron & crew for your hard effort & reverence of this job.
Yeah, an impressive demonstration of skill, for sure. Especially for those of us who done similar ourselves and understand just how difficult it is. Oscar made it look a lot easier than it really is, especially with the lack of traction on the drives. Reminds me Talon backing up that combo rig hooked to the Western Star into a really tight parking space way back when (it basically amounted to backing a Rocky Mountain Double for an extended distance, which take some SERIOUS skill and experience). Ron seems to really inspire greatness in his team. Either that, or he has some kind of statistically impossible magical ability to hire only the top 0.5%, of the absolute best, of the top elite.

Many 🙏 Prayers 🙏 to the Family for your HUGE Loss. This video will hopefully Save Many Lives Thanks to your Willingness to let Ron/Team Recover and Post video. 🙏
First, to the family. I hope this brings you closure and helps you on your path forward. Sean, I hope you are able to get closure as well. As a former EMT I understand the frustration of not being able to save someone. And Ron, you are an incredible human being. Many years ago I drove wreckers, and I worked for people who only cared about money. As I watch your videos and see you interact with people, it’s clear that you care about the people. I’m not naive, I know this kind of work can get expensive, and I know you are running a business, but you never forget the human factor, from the prayers for people who were involved in accidents, to seeing you go out of your way to get a car into a better position so that a handicapped lady could get out easier, to what you did for Terry. It’s clear where your heart is. God bless you and all of you employees and family! PS. Ron when you said you doing this for free, you reinforced everything I said above.
Awesome job on helping the family with the healing process of this sad situation, please everyone if it's flooded please please turn around don't drown , the team done a excellent job, I actually teared up at the end when the trucks came across the bridge with their lights on paying respect to the 2 young adults ,God Bless to the family and to the MIDWEST CREW
Just want the family of the victims to know and understand that we all ❤love y'all..and that were very sorry for your loss..,also that even tho this is a terrible terrible tragedy, that God indeed does love you!!!..sometimes things happen beyond the control of others.. including God... I truly hope that the removal of this vehicle will help to move on.. knowing that it's gone has to be such a relief..in ways that only you could know....please don't give up or give in ..I promise life is well worth living...
I never knew when this accident happened and I give condolences to the family I love what Ron and his team has done for this family and the care he take to make this video this was more like a movie put together it was so intresting and I love the way Ron always explain about doing this kind of videos
What a magnificent effort by all your team Ron and carried out with such professionalism. Thank you to the landowner who allowed you access to carry out the recovery and my prayers and best wishes to the mum who lost her little ones in such tragic circumstances. I hope your work has allowed her and her family to bring closure to such an awful chapter in their lives.
Prayers for the family and friends of the boy who lost their lives. The first responders had a real challenge in the rescue thanks to your team for your hard work and dedication to doing the job with respect and dignity
What an unbelievably complicated recovery. Hats off to you and your team’s tenacity. May I make a general suggestion, let some of your young bucks do the heavy lifting and allow yourself to manage the projects, and perhaps save a heart attack. Thank you and take care! 🇨🇦
Prayers for the family and first responders to the accident. Hoping this brings some measure of peace for all of you. Ron certainly makes things happen quickly and as safely as possible. Your community is blessed to have him and Midwest Truck.
Thank you, Ron, and especially the family, for allowing this tragic story to be told. The whole team did a fantastic, professional and respectful job in recovering the vehicle. Five years in the creek is a long time and allows a goodly amout of silt and vegetation to accumulate. In spite of the challenges, set-backs and overall difficulty, the job was completed. Well done. You, and the team, have gone up in my estimation. However, it's not about you, it's all about giving God the glory and that's what you did al the way down the line. God bless you, Ron, your family and the whole MidWest team. Prayers also for the family in their time of grief. Respectful greetings from the UK.
Thank you all who was there to remove the vehicle from the river ! My heart and prayers go out to the family of those two young men ! God Bless them all I hope now they can have some peace of mind and closure ! Ron you and your sons and crew did a fine job that was definitely a big team effort and you all did a outstanding and professional job !
I know you don't normally show the recovery of something where there was a serious injury or death, but this one was needed. Respect given to the GOAT's of towing and recovery.
Ron I watch you do things that lots of others would not do, God has blessed you and all the people who work with you. When I heard you say that there is no cost to the family for this job. I could help myself, i said a prayer for you and all the people helping you this day, I can't stop thinking about the young children who lost their lives in that car, I think they the children are standing with God and watching over you and trying to say we are fine and don't worry about us, because we will see you one day, and in the meantime God is watching us, I want to say thank you to the family who asked you to show the recovery of this car. God bless them and may god bless all of you
Yes, this was one of the saddest situations ever. I just felt compelled to see it through . It was expensive and a work out, but so worth it to finally remove the vehicle. Thanks for watching and God bless.
That was a truly heart touching recovery. Knowing the back story to the families loss through watching part 1 last week. Their allowance to show what can happen, and what it takes to finally recover the vehicle, allows them true closure. Full respect to yourself and the crew for such a caring completion.
Yes, great comment! Hopefully the media story prevents people from driving into water and losing their lives. Special thanks to Ron, excellent training exercise for all your crew. And, Ron, an extra special thank you for your service and prayers for all concerned. You are a very special man. I’ve been involved with towing in my past and truly appreciate what you do out there risking your life on a daily basis for your community. ❤🎉🙏🚓🚑🚒🚚🚛🚜🐍🐶🐕🦺
Remember HYDRATION! HYDRATION!! alwats take 5 to rehydrate when working in heat Your whole crew showed great respect for the family and the children who passed😇😇😇😇
Blessings to the family and many prayers. It's not easy losing a child let alone 2 on the same day. Ron, your integrity and professionalism including your entire team, really shined through. Not only today but in every video you put out. Thank you for all you do.
What a great job. And to do it for free, too. Amazing stuff, Ron. I was unexpectedly emotional about this job, especially the procession at the end. You're a good man with a good team around you, and I hope the family appreciated everything you did for them.
Watching that procession at the end brought trars to my eyes. You and your workers are a blessing, thank you for all you do. Prayers to the family, may God keep and protect them.
Something about this job, brought me back to the wonderful memory of Ron & his dad, retrieving the rental truck up in the forest hills, using an itty bitty ATV winch, that they had to 6-line it I think, cause it didn't have the power to retrieve an 7000 pound van. It was so wholesome to see Ron & his dad work together on that, I was deeply humbled. Having said all that, with the simularties of this job, burning up a winch on a truck, I really feel that this was a much tougher job. Good job getting the car out, 5-years later. But now its time to buy a new winch, some new winch line, and a new Yankem rope.
A big thanks to your Ron and his crew . An extra big cheer to Mom for allowing this to be filmed and picthiching in to help Ron and his crew pull that winch cable , and the younger girls for binging water to the crew.
I had to take a couple days to comment after watching the recovery. I live in Richmond Hill GA where after TS Debby went through we had a lot of rain run off and water from busted damns up north come through. We had several neighborhoods under 5-6 of water because the rivers couldn't handle the the flow from above us. So watching this while helping my community deal with flooded areas hit. And on top I had a Facebook reminder from August 2014. I was 25 miles south where hurricane Charlie hit and had to deal with flooding myself at the time. So see you go out of the way to help is a blessing to that family and a blessing to the community. Thank you Midwest for giving her closure and God bless all of you.
Great job, Ron and everyone involved with this difficult recovery. It brought tears to my eyes watching, my deepest condolences to the family who lost loved ones.
God Bless Ron, his entire team, and the family who gave permission for this to be published. "Turn Around, Don't Drown" is a real thing, and I will be sharing this as well as the back-story to everyone I know.
Excellent work Ron & Crew! And it was great of the landowner to allow you to go through his land and clear the path through the woods to get to the vehicle.
Ron, thank JESUS for people like you and your great crew. This is far more than just a recovery and we pray that it helps the family and friends of all who knew these children. Again be blessed as all of us who saw your hard work. BE SAFE and again, GOD BLESS.
God bless this family! Thank you work beyond normal , yet you conquer again! Ron at your best helping, teaching, and sharing real life, sad and true ,makes what you do awesome! Thanks.
Wow. This was a huge operation to an unprecedented accident that took place years ago. It’s good to see you guys bringing closure to the family involved with this tragic incident. Major props to all of guys for holding up to the level of professionalism I’ve been viewing. Oscar’s dedication to the job has definitely been outstanding in this video! All around very impressive work with operating different equipment. Always great seeing him in action. Also it’s great to see the local news getting the news out about this as well. Great job everyone! I think Ethan just likes having the lights on. God Bless you all for your hard work and dedication to the job.
A few random comments. 1. I hope you got the snakes out before you dropped that back in your yard. 2. I'd thought about taking it out a piece at a time. Turns out with the snakes, that would have been a bad idea. 3. Had you considered putting the skidsteer under the other end as you were pulling? That would have made the pull easier, and might have been able to do some steering for you as well. 4. I'm glad that you were able to do this without injury to any of your people. Hardware can be repaired or replaced. But your crew is irreplaceable. 5. Last but certainly not least, This will help the family get some closure. It won't bring the kids back, but it tidies up a loose end and that will help the healing process.
Thank you for showing this . Thank you to the family allowing this to be shown so someone else could learn. Thank you and your team for all the hard work that went into this. Thank you to the farmer for allowing you access to. God bless all that were involved.
2 and a half hours. Watched through the whole thing, and I don't think there was any more you could pare it down. Salute to you and your team for taking on this emotional and equipment-brutalizing recovery. Thank you for sharing this with us, and remember: Turn around, Don't drown.
That's a strong family in their grief, coming out to watch the work. The difficulty in getting the SUV out, with sweat, exhaustion, damage, learning through doing, patience, taking a step back to try something different, using a variety of resources, some good moments with a smile here and there, and the comradery in a shared experience with teammates each applying their skills to a positive outcome, was like a metaphor of what a family goes through during a lifetime of dealing with tragic loss. I think it probably helped the family to see that and to be there to support Ron and his team, as much as they were there to support the family.
glad you were able to do what it seems no one else was and bring closure to the family. and shelby is one hard working your lady! and hats off to the farmer for allowing you access to build a road through the woods to do the recovry
Prayers to the family. It's been 5 years and the mother keeps seeing this, she wants to keep their memories alive, good memories. I know this mother's pain😢 Ron you and your crew are such good people to help this family get the bad memories of that heartbreaking day😔 out of sight. My heart goes out to them. Ron you and the crew have a good hearts.
I can't imagine how terrible it was knowing that wreckage was there & driving by seeing it as a reminder year after year. You all did a fantastic thing for this family
Ron, I know you probably won't see a comment on a 2 month old video, but I have to say that this is one of your most profound videos. You chose to do something very good for someone hurting, even at considerable difficulty to yourself. That is an admirable quality. When I watch your recoveries I always try to figure out how I'd do it, as you like to say, there are several ways to add up to 10. What I found funny on this one was that you ended up doing it almost exactly how I thought it would have to be done. Right off the bat, as soon as I saw the car up close, I knew you were going to need the big truck to get it out. I also figured you'd have to winch it in. I'm no tow operator, but I've been a farmer and construction worker, so I've gotten lots of stuck stuff out (and gotten lots of stuff stuck getting other stuck stuff out, but that's another long story) and it was pretty plain to me that no pickup winch, especially an electric one, was going to do the job. Two thoughts that I had, that might have made a difference are trying to shake the car loose before trying to pull it out of the river. Go across the top with a strap to the far side and just tension and release to break suction and get it out of the mud. The rotational leverage makes it lift the far side much easier than just pulling on the near side. After a couple of shakes you hook up as you did and it should come out a bit easier. Second, my thought would have been as soon as it was across the river to get under it with the skid-steer and lift it up and rig to the bottom so you got some lift and it didn't dig in as much. You did that later up the course, but that could have been done right up front and maybe saved you some struggles. Well done, though. That was not going to be easy no matter what you did! Oh, and what happened to the snakes?
We read every comment on every video, we just don't always have the opportunity to reply. No comment appears unless we approve it, we want this channel to remain family friendly. This was a job that we were "all in" for. Of course when you view it after the fact, we see things we could have or should have done differently. When the day was done, the constant painful reminder was removed from sight. As for the snakes?????? Well, the HOPE is that they found other homes on the way to our shop. We haven't seen any of them, but there are bodies of water fairly close by. That's one things I DO NOT LIKE!!!!!!! Thank you for watching and God bless
Great recovery session for everyone involved. Lots of lessons learned on this one including the family who probably didn't conceive how much would be involved. Lots of gear broken. Hell of a clean up job coming up off camera. Glad no snakes were harmed in the making of this video which is a good thing as well. You too Ron. You certainly were at the heavy end of the cable. I was worried for you.
Ron, you and the crew did a phenomenal job on this.👏👏👏 Was holding a cross when the trucks passes by🙏 So sad that lives were lost but you got many blessings from the family, me and especially God himself. God will bless you tremendously in many ways down the road. God Bless you, the Midwest crew, your family and the family of the deceased.🙏🕊

What a tragic story. Thank you Ron Pratt for your compassion and providing information for your viewers to understand the gravity of the situation. As you said this was not just a recovery of a vehicle it is a closure for the family and friends. You are a kind and patient man❤
Ron, thank you for providing an important documentation of this tragedy. You have struck a wonderful balance between showing what happened and being highly respectful. A quality that is sadly lost largely in today's sensationalistic world. Only knowledge can prevent others from repeating the same mistake, so I am absolutely in favour of reporting such cases with the respect they deserve, so that others may learn from them.
Ron, the world is a better place with you in it. The Lord blessed your area when he put you there. Thank you for the videos and to help bring some closure to the family. I was good until I saw the procession come across the bridge and now it's raining in my eyes. God bless you and yours sir.

GREAT JOB RON AND MIDWEST CREW! Really great job. I don't think people realize the amount of force it takes to break a Yankum rope. That was... just wow.
Looks like those might be WARN winches. If Ron contacts WARN they may replace those winches for free given the situation. I've seen them do it before. Replaced one of mine I burned out recovering a Jeep that went way down a hill. Came with a free instructional video on how to do long pulls. lol

Prayers for the family that lost these children.. May God's mercy and blessings be upon this family..
You guys and gals are solid gold for going above and beyond. Prayers for their family.
I admire your determination.. this was way more then just a car recovery
He said he wasn't leaving without that car, and he left with that car
Failure wasnt allowed
Gosh I was OK, until the end when the trucks left out. Thank you all for a wonderful job. Thank you for providing closure. Bless everyone involved.
Your dad would have been so proud of what you did for this family.
Remember when you and he had a search & recover from a wooded area & a narrow path to navigate.
@@kathleenleveck9413 yeah wasn't it the stolen UHaul?
Thank you very much...we that work in public has seen alot but sometimes things don`t turn out ... GOD BLESS ALL.
@@jayp7171 I couldn't have said this any better. I second what you said.
Glad you able to bring closure to the family.
thank you Ron and team for helping the family. Also thank you to the farmer that allowed you the access to get to it safely and closer
What a brilliant team you have Ron, and what a challenge this job was, but as always you win! And as always it's done with SAFETY FIRST in mind!
So sad that boys passed away
Prayers go out to the family 🙏🙏
Great job Ron and your workers
Thank you all who was there to remove the vehicle from the river ! My heart and prayers go out to the family of those two young men ! God Bless them all I hope now they can have some peace of mind and closure ! Ron you and your sons and crew did a fine job that was definitely a big team effort and you all did a outstanding and professional job !
Ron you & your crew were very respectful doing a very hard job when lives were lost
I could help myself, i said a prayer for you and all the people helping you this day, I can't stop thinking about the young children who lost their lives in that car, I think they the children are standing with God and watching over you and trying to say we are fine and don't worry about us, because we will see you one day, and in the meantime God is watching us,
I want to say thank you to the family who asked you to show the recovery of this car. God bless them and may god bless all of you
Well done rehydrate please. Watching your channel from NZ.
Heart felt feeling go out to the family.
Not only a lesson that the media share everytime, but you also used the recovery as a training exercise for your team. Well done, Ron!
Thank you Ron and to all the Midwest truck crew members for the recovery that will bring closure to the family
I think this is the hardest undertaking I have seen you do on video. God bless you and your crew for the work you do.
"Team work makes the dream work" comes to mind. All hands doing their part. Shelby is a keeper.
What great teamwork. Prayers of thanks you got the vehicle is out. Prayers for the family for closure and healing. God is good.
Blessings to the family and many prayers. It's not easy losing a child let alone 2 on the same day. Ron, your integrity and professionalism including your entire team, really shined through. Not only today but in every video you put out. Thank you for all you do.
Mr Pratt I’ve been watching you for a very long time you and your team did a very good deed stay safe and god bless you and your crew.
You never get over the lost of your kids cause there is always a piece of your heart forever.
You all did a great job retrieving this vehicle. My prayers go to the family of their lost ones. God bless all.
Ron you and crew did vey fantastic work . Hoping this brings. Closure to the family
God Bless Ron, his entire team, and the family who gave permission for this to be published. "Turn Around, Don't Drown" is a real thing, and I will be sharing this as well as the back-story to everyone I know.
Ron, WHAT AN INCREDIBLE RECOVERTY!!! Stay safe, watch everybody's six, and stay hydrated.
That was so kind of you getting that vehicle out for free. Very nice job everybody.
Awesome job Ron & crew! Hopefully, this will bring closure to the family.
You did a hell of a job. And god bless the Family and your team.
Major undertaking-- you do have one FINE Crew to handle that... be proud-- and thanks for helping that family..
2 and a half hours. Watched through the whole thing, and I don't think there was any more you could pare it down. Salute to you and your team for taking on this emotional and equipment-brutalizing recovery. Thank you for sharing this with us, and remember: Turn around, Don't drown.
God Bless you Ron mate you have done a great thing for the Family
That's a strong family in their grief, coming out to watch the work. The difficulty in getting the SUV out, with sweat, exhaustion, damage, learning through doing, patience, taking a step back to try something different, using a variety of resources, some good moments with a smile here and there, and the comradery in a shared experience with teammates each applying their skills to a positive outcome, was like a metaphor of what a family goes through during a lifetime of dealing with tragic loss. I think it probably helped the family to see that and to be there to support Ron and his team, as much as they were there to support the family.
Think you Ron and crew my thoughts and prayers are with everyone that helped love the video
glad you were able to do what it seems no one else was and bring closure to the family. and shelby is one hard working your lady! and hats off to the farmer for allowing you access to build a road through the woods to do the recovry
Prayers to the family. It's been 5 years and the mother keeps seeing this, she wants to keep their memories alive, good memories. I know this mother's pain😢
Ron you and your crew are such good people to help this family get the bad memories of that heartbreaking day😔 out of sight.
Ron you and your crew did an awesome job! Thank you for a wonderful job by you!
I pray this helps this mom heal. Mr. Pratt, you and your crew gave thy family an amazing gift. God bless y'all. A vexing recovery with a good result.
Just amazing work from all of you. Ron you Sir are the best, Thank you!

You're good people, Mr. Pratt. God bless each and every one of you.
You guys are a class act for your services and how you treat people!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart what you did for the family was very heart warming and you are so blessed you and your work family ❤❤❤❤
This needs to be shown in high school drivers ed turn around don't drown.
Agree!!!
with a long enough lever or big enough wrecker, you can move the world - incredible work

Beautiful that the Midwest Truck team could give that family some closure. When the whole crew rolled out at the end of the video I was in tears. Wat a job and what a team effort! ❤

Thanks Ron and crew, a very Long Sad video. You guys did the almost impossible job of getting that vehicle out of that creek. It took 5 years for that vehicle cross that bridge exiting a Tragedy and hopefully bring some sort of closure to the family of those 2 little boy's. Prayers to the family. ❤
GREAT JOB RON AND MIDWEST CREW! Really great job.
I don't think people realize the amount of force it takes to break a Yankum rope. That was... just wow.
A real heart breaking story you guys are absolutely amazing for taking this on to help bring closure to this family. Thank you for sharing this!
I would not be surprised if Alan at Yankum Ropes doesn't replace that rope for free.
He deserves it and a wrench box and two new wrenches for the truck

Looks like those might be WARN winches. If Ron contacts WARN they may replace those winches for free given the situation. I've seen them do it before. Replaced one of mine I burned out recovering a Jeep that went way down a hill. Came with a free instructional video on how to do long pulls. lol
Job well done!!!!! Approximately how far did the Suv travel from the point it got sweeped into the creek to where it ended up resting until the recovery?
