You're like the Anthony Bourdain of photography. I can see this format working on the discovery channel with a different location each week. Hope you get those big bucks!
Raw talk 173 led me here, and I can't believe this only has 124k views. The amount of work that went into making this really shows in the quality of this production. It's too bad there's no episode 2. What an amazing experience this must have been. Thanks Jared and everyone who worked for it.
Well done city boy, well done. The respect for the Grand Canyon is lost on so many. Slow down, breathe and relax for the beauty this place offers. Good job.
Great show and thanks for sharing the raw pictures. Love that your setting were also included when I open it in Elements 13. Again thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to your next adventure.
+Daniel Vining definitely. Once Jared gets in a good flow of telling meaningful stories along the way, it feels much more real and overall more fascinating
I think what i was trying to say from the beginning was that it FEELS like they're "trying to be like a reality show" instead of just filming their own reality...in a show lol
+beedubprep It seems really good, and I like that ti does not get too candid, as shows that do it tend to have mostly non meaningful dialog (nothing really moving the show forward). So far in the show, the dialog is done in a way that is always either moving things forward, supplying interesting information (e.g., the camping experience), or in general, setting the "mood" of the show.
I love travel shows, I would really like your show to be on TV. It's a nice change of pace to see the appreciation of photography while traveling, and while learning something at the same time.
great show! The Milky Way pictures were great! Living around NYC does make for good night photography. Would love to make a trip like this one soon and see what I can get. Thanks for sharing.
Great Idea and big respect for trying out such a massive undertaking Jared! I really liked the concept of the whole thing, balancing geeky photography stuff with easy watching, travel documentary and stuff. Here´s my two cents of hopefully constructive enough criticism: 1. The thing that really disturbed me was the scale of things and what you compared it to. 5 Jeeps, Tents, a freaking POTTY-tent? I would like to see you go to India with just a Leica and a cameraguy. keep it simple, keep it real, intensify the emotion and make it more of a documentary-like thing, telling it once it is over. you get the idea, I hope, so back to my point: It is such an american thing to do to seek out such a majestic place of solitude and power of the elements and then spoil it with a huge crew, lots of tech and so on. But for the love of god, then comparing THAT to the life of navajos in a hogan? that just left a bitter taste in my mouth. just pretentious. how to make it better? scale down, simplify, stick to the stuff you know best and love talking about, look into narration techniques and how to tell a story to get an honest, candid emotion across. 2. those "ad-breaks". That´s just killing all the emotion, all the feel there is. That thing was made well enough to kick people´s curiosity. If it is as long as an hour or even 90 minutes, maybe one break in between, but also not that abrupt, but in 26 minutes? Before AND after? too much! get rid of it. 3. get a narrator. get david attenborough. :-) You can´t be telling the story and being it´s main character at the same time, it felt anachronistic, even though I understand why you had to do it in that fashion. That would tie things together better and take attention away from you, making you all the more interesting at the same time if that makes sense at all. 4. cutting: I would have liked to see more "cinema" in there, shots of the scene, details, pans, that sort of thing to insert some more atmosphere and relax the whole pace of it. it felt rushed from time to time, you´d wanna create the feel of investing time into the place and it´s people a bit more. 5. color: some frames, event though very short, seemed a bit cold to me, especially in the beginning. 6. there occasionally was someone talking without being heard. that was distracting. needs to be fixed. 7. audio: choose that background music more carefully! Music does to the ears what photography does to the eyes and you should want to match the emotions of the scene with the music played there. it felt like you downloaded a couple of beats and put them in the background for the purpose of leading into the next scene only. forgive my harsh words but I know you won´t take it personal and improve where you agree, ignore the rest. peace!
EXCELLENT show Jared. More of these. I think what draws me the most is watching you learn as well. The excitement for the process draws me in. You should visit Disney World for an episode. Part street photography, part landscapes, and challenging low-light shots all in one place.
Fro, it's great to see you go and experience something new, I mean who has never been camping before? It shows what we should all realize - try something new, don't be afraid, it will open your eyes to all kinds of new experiences and ideas. I think I may have to put one of these trips on my bucket list!
Excellent first episode . That is one of the places I hope to some day get to visit. Super photos you got also. Hope to see many more episodes from you. Don't change a thing. You got a winner here. Thanks for sharing
Indeed it seems like that is it, thank you for your information. Seems like no0one does this in South Africa though... X_x. I feel a DIY project coming on.
Wow! Good to see you out of the studio and sharing your experiences and videos ;D I really liked it especially how you explored it even more and met new ppl.
i strongly suggest you move past the raw shirt and dare i say even the fro (maybe not cut it) if you want this type of show. I think you need to get more dirty, look more the part and relate more on what it truly takes to do this as a normal person. doing so would imo extend the life of this project and draw in more than just fanbois.
Jared, Thank you for showing this part of Arizona! Not a lot of people get to experience my state like this. I grew up eating steam corn stew, fry bread and all types of Navajo food. Thats God country out there (I know everyone says this) Thanks again, Jared!
an absolute joy to watch!! i am looking forward to finally getting out there, lived here for 10 years and never been, that is about to change!!!! thanks.
+Jared Polin Very well done mate, hats off to all the BTS video crew, excellent work. It reminded me of the type of photography series BBC television commissioned in the early 1980's, same entertaining humour intermixed with just the right amount of photography content. Especially enjoyed that interview with the Navajo lady, it was respectful and of a perfect tone, she was absolutely perfect. This episode was more than good enough for syndication, here's wishing you guys all the best with future episodes, keep them coming!
Nice job and so much better than following the herds at the South Rim! Just respect the Navajo land and you too can go out and enjoy this amazing part of the canyon. The Little Colorado is also amazing.
Wow ! Truly inspiring!!! Its been years since I have been to the Grand Canyon and there is nothing like it . I felt your passion and could relate to your story. It brought me to tears. The sky is like nothing I have ever seen before. Truly amazing. Thank you for sharing. Please continue to show us your incredible work.
Wonderful show Jared. I am a amateur photographer and only got into the craft in the last two years when I bought my D3300. Your show brought great memories of the Grand Canyon when me and my wife visited years ago. You are a huge inspiration and I look forward to your next episode. Thank you for all the wealth of knowledge and education you bring to the field. I hope someday to be as inspirational and as accomplished as you.
Enjoyed this show very much. photographing with friends a lot of fun. Its nice to share knowledge. Miss Elvira interview was well done. Looking forward to next shows.
That was awesome!! What a great mix of photography with all the stories of the great people you met, the culture, and our beautiful country. Thank you.
brilliant work gents! seriously.. what an amazing journey..not only to the grand canyon but from the first videos posted here on this channel to now. So very inspiring! I'm very grateful for all that you do here! thanks!
Awesome - I loved it! I look forward to seeing more episodes. I love getting the details about the different areas, including your camp area. I also enjoyed the interview with Elvina - great questions. Rock!Rock-on!
Excellent, thank you. At times when I've seen you before you perhaps have come across as being brash, 'shouty', that's your style after all. However, it's good to see you can also be sensitive to the feelings of others and to the landscape and customs around you. The respect you showed to the lady who prepared the food was quite touching. Well done!
i always admired your work but making this tv show has earned you a big fan. Thank you Jared for the show . It felt like i was there with you on the adventure. Waiting for the next one
Wow! It's good to see you getting out in the wide open country with the skills you have. I enjoyed this video very much! Can't wait to see Alaska from your eyes. Thank you for taking the time teaching us. Pass it on!
Great job Jared really well done! I seriously would not listen to the critics here in the comment section. I can see everything was done in excellence and I was very captivated from beginning to end. Love the idea please post more episodes Jared.
Wonderful 1st episode. I was literally hypnotized and couldn't look away until the end of it. I think you have a really great idea over here and it will be wonderful to see more episodes in the future. It not only talks about the photography itself but also allows you to somehow participate in the adventure of going to the special places and think about any preparations you must take in mind. The best part that I liked was the ending with you hanging the photos on the wall. it reminds me that the photos are for us to enjoy and not to keep them in digital formats at the bottom of our hard drives.
It's a good show. In the beginning, I was like, uh ohh; this looks like one big Adventure Driven commercial. But about half way through, when they were gone; it got better. Good photography and great production. I give it an 8/9. Ditch Adventure Driven and go out on your own, and it will be a 10. Just my opinion.
I have been there!!!!! Still, I am so amazed!!! Your story telling is great, I totally enjoyed this and look for the next!!!! Thank you Jared!!! Moonpie
Fantastic Fro....... Over the years your Videography and Photography has improved from strength to strength. You never stop learning and either do we...... Keep up the good work....
Excellent show! It's nice that it is geared towards appreciation of the land mixed with photography and not just straight photography. Well done, funny at times, respectful at the right times and it was great to watch. Thanks!!
Great job Jared, I love the way the show was shot! Like you said before, the show is interesting to anyone and not just photographers. I learned a bit about photography and also about the Grand Canyon and the people who lived there.
I hope you have a great photo of you and Elvina from the Flea Market. I found Elvina to be a very interesting personality and a great part of the story. Nice work Fro & crew!
A single "Thumbs up" is not enough. A fantastic video with instruction, ideas, kit, inspiration and even a behind-the-scenes section about the camp. Fantastic! I loved the interview with the native Indian lady. This is my favourite Fro video to date.
amazing, loved the 1st episode hope there are many more to come. some truly amazing shots over the grand canyon and i believe the shot of that hut is one that tell a historic story. thanks jared lee
Loooove... well put together. I live in AZ for 5 years now and have never been to the GC. I do plan to go next summer and do a tour so that I can get some good info about the culture and history of the Canyon. Great shots, great story. Thanks for sharing
Awsome first episode!!! I'm weekend warrior shooter and you have inspired me to get out into the world. Grande Canyon is definately on the list!!!! Thanks and I'm a big fan!!!
Well Jared, I was hoping for a show that not only captured my attention but also inspired me to shoot more! And you delivered man, thank you for the great new show. Looking forward to the next one, I hope that you are touched by everywhere you travel, and by everyone you meet. best regards.
Absolutely loved it!Obviously it is more than just a photographers show. But an extra 10 minutes video for photographers on what settings to use for a few basic situations would also be awesome! Please more huge locations like that both withIN and withOUT the country!!
Love the episode. It's brilliant to see how you work and the fact you have been doing this for so long but still learning is amazing. Can't wait for the next episode
You're like the Anthony Bourdain of photography. I can see this format working on the discovery channel with a different location each week. Hope you get those big bucks!
+The Hunter Report Or Travel Channel, or National Geographic. This has the look and feel of a good cable show for sure.
Haha!
+Daniel Vining I kept forgetting I was watching fro on youtube. Really enjoyed it.
+The Hunter Report My thoughts exactly. This is definitely TV quality material. Perhaps this is Fro's pitch to the TV channels?
+Jason Bone I kept forgetting it wasn't a tv show. ;)
Raw talk 173 led me here, and I can't believe this only has 124k views. The amount of work that went into making this really shows in the quality of this production. It's too bad there's no episode 2.
What an amazing experience this must have been. Thanks Jared and everyone who worked for it.
+David Ribeiro Agree!
LOL " If I catch him trying to throw one more rock I'm gonna cut his fro off" :)
+Dan Swan Wait, does Jared call his... ammm.... never mind!
Well done city boy, well done.
The respect for the Grand Canyon is lost on so many. Slow down, breathe and relax for the beauty this place offers.
Good job.
That was truly amazing Jared. Thank you for taking the time to make this.
Love it. I love travel so this is a show I would watch with each new episode.
My expectations were high, and you delivered. Great job, Team Fro. Camping gets under your skin, by the way. I hope you develop a passion for it.
Phenomenal premiere Jared. The show has a great flow and energy. It's definitely something I will watch.
its really beautiful Jared..looking forward to see more like this :)
Great show and thanks for sharing the raw pictures.
Love that your setting were also included when I open it in Elements 13.
Again thanks for sharing. I am looking forward to your next adventure.
I think its great. Some of the dialogue feels forced though, doesn't feel as "candid" as some reality shows
That's great.
+beedubprep There was a dose of cornyness here and there, but overall this was a grand slam. I could really see this on the Travel Channel

Not sure how I've missed this video for several years????
Late to the game I know, but this is my favorite video by far.
Wow this was really cool and well made, I'm impressed
I love travel shows, I would really like your show to be on TV. It's a nice change of pace to see the appreciation of photography while traveling, and while learning something at the same time.
Great show!! Though it would be great to see stephen and todd, though i get the restrictions
In the future we will work the crew in more. There's some bts stuff on the show page.
+Jared Polin God bless you, Jared, I really enjoyed this, you are a lovely man. :)
+Jared Polin niceee show but you should get better sunglasses :D
+Jared Polin as long as Joe does not speak. #shutupjoe
great show! The Milky Way pictures were great! Living around NYC does make for good night photography. Would love to make a trip like this one soon and see what I can get. Thanks for sharing.

When`s the 2nd episode coming on? I wanna see the next already!
EXCELLENT show Jared. More of these.
I think what draws me the most is watching you learn as well. The excitement for the process draws me in.
You should visit Disney World for an episode. Part street photography, part landscapes, and challenging low-light shots all in one place.

Excellent first episode . That is one of the places I hope to some day get to visit. Super photos you got also. Hope to see many more episodes from you. Don't change a thing. You got a winner here. Thanks for sharing
Where did you get your photos developed for those glossy and thin canvases?
Yes I also want to know! They look super cool, even if someone can help out with a "name" for this kind of print/frame/mounting...
I think they're called thinwraps
Indeed it seems like that is it, thank you for your information. Seems like no0one does this in South Africa though... X_x. I feel a DIY project coming on.
That's a kool idea, I hadn't even thought of making it DIY
EbeN TrolliP they are metal prints from Adorama pix
Wow! Good to see you out of the studio and sharing your experiences and videos ;D I really liked it especially how you explored it even more and met new ppl.
18:20 fro goes Canadian

+zLeeeO really? thats where you wanna see him go....Canada? Australia, Africa, Asia and others and u choose Canada lol
+yuenglingking It's how spoke with a Canadian accent. Nothing to do with going anywhere! lol

+cghkorea It's more of an East Coast Canadian accent.
Excellent first show. Can't wait for more.
I can see this on History channel
Can't wait for the next show! Good balance for new and old photographers. Thanks Jared!!
i strongly suggest you move past the raw shirt and dare i say even the fro (maybe not cut it) if you want this type of show. +yuenglingking wait, im not a normal person doing it? Cool
lol no your not sry man.
thanks for your vids though man.
Jared, thank you for doing what you do, please keep at it, you inspire me to do better at everything including my job which is cooking, great job 👍
Jared, Thank you for showing this part of Arizona! Not a lot of people get to experience my state like this. I grew up eating steam corn stew, fry bread and all types of Navajo food. Thats God country out there (I know everyone says this) Thanks again, Jared!
Believe or not...this adventure should have been on National Geographic Channel. I'm saving is in my Med Folder. Thank you FroKnowPhoto...2 thumbs up.

However, it's good to see you can also be sensitive to the feelings of others and to the landscape and customs around you. The respect you showed to the lady who prepared the food was quite touching. Well done!

Great job Jared, I love the way the show was shot! Like you said before, the show is interesting to anyone and not just photographers. I learned a bit about photography and also about the Grand Canyon and the people who lived there.
