I am subscribed. Great video!
This was a great video. I saw Sam's video last week and yours today. Your epoxy coated coils look so much safer. Not that I would ever mount my amp to the enclosure but there are plenty of people still doing it.
Jason always dropping the good stuff
It’s gonna be a monster at 2 and 1 ohm certified And uncertified. Dynamic will be over the top!! Whoop whoop!
Hey man I really like your videos. I have based most of my builds from what you have tested. Keep making more videos. And I just subscribed. Cant wait to see what you do next.
Love the dynamic power at .8 ohms. That's what I would run. .5 ohms is awesome
Best amp Taramps made so far 💪🏾
Agreed!!
Love your videos bro! Thanks for everything
Nice I bet next Taramps will make a Smart 8k bass and that will be a very powerful amp now this amp is also powerful.
Sam w/barevids was saying the mosfets in the reg smart 5 could handle higher voltage I'll bet like the smart 3 it will do more than 5k at 1ohm. Regardless, excellent dyno thanks for the content Jason
Didn't know Garfield was doing amp dynos. In all seriousness, good vid.
Awesome just got 1 can't wait to run it
You'll be very pleased with it
Just make sure you have the proper electrical support!
@@Facekicker loving it! You should try .25 ohm. I'm thinking about it
Great battery bank!
Thank you
im subbed and im buying that amp and going to run it at .5 on 2 american bass hawks in a 6th order
Dope. Sam from barevids just did a video on this amp and now an amp dyno🔥
Sam
😂😂😂damn swipe auto correct keyboard strikes again
I'm glad you include current. Half the people in car audio only run about half the power needed for their amps and claim they make full power on their subs/amp
Electrical support is such a critical part of a build that is often missed or overlooked.
Thanks for the support!
@@Facekicker yeah a lot of people look at ah instead of bms with batteries and then their expensive alts end up putting in most of the work. Which I think people should have higher output current batteries but I understand that gets expensive for daily knockers
Thinking about getting the smart 8 bass
Long time watcher of this channel just realized I wasn't subscribed I am now lol 🤣
Thank you!
@@Facekicker no prob man love to support fellow car audio creators I'm still trying to grow my channel as well wish all the best for your channel
i have this amp ! has good power,, speaker terminals take 8 gauge,, likes the lows. i chose this over the regular smart because its .5 could wire to .25 and rise...and has a lowpass
You wire it 0.25?
@@michaelzaporozhets3219 with rise you’d be fine especially with rated at .5 to begin with
How does this amp do for dependability? Long long term
So the only difference is it has a low pass??Im trying figure out which one to get the smart 5k or the smart 5k bass??plz sum one help me .Thanks
how did the .25 work out???
Do you plan on dynoing any of the incriminator audio amps? I'm curious if what ive heard about them is true or not. The splitforce tech sounds interesting aswell. They say the ia40.1 does 8k in comp while being rated for 4800.
I subscribed!! I just bought a smark 3k Bass and was thinking if wiring my 3 CT Sounds Strato 8D4 to 2.67 ohms but I think you are talking me into wiring it 0.5 due to impedance rises a d the smart amp, I should never realy have a problem
So this amp is only getting around 7500 watts dynamically but the regular smart 5 gets around 12k? What the hell??? Great video btw!! Much needed information on these amps!!
Edit:
Thicker board?? I heard the bass version has a thinner board for some weird reason.
Bass version has some changes that make it a bit more reliable and consistent at low impedance, as well as using the Bass input section/crossovers. Dynamic testing seems to be impacted most by the design of the power supply section which would explain the difference. I would note however, that when an amp has a significantly higher dynamic score than cert/uncert testing, it would be rare to actually see those numbers real world. Cert/Uncert paint most of the picture.
@@Facekicker thanks!
Ima be wired to .5 on two custom dd 9510 sc with the ti frame and big roll surround. Duel spaced spider. Im bring the gain down and dsp so i get flat power across .5-4ohm.
Great test, wish you could test the original smart 5k as it might surprise you
Williston audio labs did a test on it. Look it up if u haven't already.
Yes and I'm mad I bought this one as every one said the 5k bass was better but after looking at this video and BIG D video it looks like the smart 5 can do alot more RMS then the 5k bass man ..and the 5k bass cost 65 dollars more
It’s weird with the back plate off it looks like a 1.5k amp , but 10 k dynamic wow I don’t know what to say great engineering
That's full bridge for ya
how to stop the throttleing on the smart 5/8... like what input votage, charging voltage, ac voltage, amp draw should you see to prevent it from the throttle
That amp is imo the baddest amp on earth
Thank you for being honest about the TRUE ability of amps on this dyno machine. WAY TOO MANY people believe that the numbers they see on these things is the power they'll ACTUALLY get when that is far from the truth. Would be nice to see real world power output in real time BUT that would hurt sales bc people don't want to see the truth. Either way, good video.
i have a smart 5 bass and a smd amm1 it does rated power in vehicle
@dead6last I have it too and mine does over ..its power hunger u gotta have good electrical 14.4v period
I have a 370 alt and 80 ah yinlong
By the statement make yourself sound like you don't know what you talking about
I wanna know how did the smart 5k get almost 12k when the smart 5k bass didn't
Yoo nice vid!!! Wat kind of reducers are u using
Ill Customz.
Thanks for watching!
I would like to know after each test did you charge the batteries or when did you charge the batteries
This video and 99% of my videos I charge it up to 15v before I do anything, and leave chargers off during the runs.
If I happen to leave chargers on I mention it and also notate it in description.
Thanks for the dyno. I was debating on getting the Smart 5 but ended up getting two Smart 3 Basses new for (320CAD) each. I plan to use them to run two DC XLs with D1.4 coils... 0.7 nominal each. Wondering your opinion on whether you go with a single Smart 5 or dual Smart 3s for this application. The price was tempting for the two but yet I'm second-guessing myself now.
The 2x Smart3k will clamp more total power.
@@Facekicker what do you recommend to power my 2 vxf 15s d4s, 2 smart 3s l, one md8k or one smart 5? Trying to fight impedance rise as much possible
@@miguelangelaviles4886 Smart5 at 1 ohm will bring the most power
@@Facekicker why not the 8k tho since its a more powerful amp?
@@Facekicker thanks in advance
I’m thinking about replacing a Crescendo Bass Clef 4K with one of these.
I went from wanting a bass clef 8k half ohm and switched it up to the md12k half ohm and fraction of the price still of the 8k
You'll be back to crescendo in less than 2 yrs
How bout a pdx precision power 10 k old sckool
So can I run a 00 to a distributor box to two out to power this amp
I have 1 00 and 1 4 gauge power line can I use these to or is the power drain dangerous
Great stuff bro. Appreciate these vids. Running two D2 RE Audio Triple X 15s (Model right after the Xbl^2). Using DSP for processing. Wondering what in your opinion would be the best option between a Smart 3 per sub, a Smart 3 Bass per sub or a Smart 5 Bass for both subs? From what I understand, the regular Smart 3 would give more power over the Bass version and two Smart 3s will have more power than the Smart 5 Bass. Guessing the Smart 5 Bass would be the better bet between the regular & bass because it can do 0.5 & rise from there up to between 1 & 2 where I would get good power & efficiency. Any advice on these amps would be great as I will be trying them for the first time. Thanks!
If it was my build, I'd be happy running the regular Smart5k, and you could wire the regular model to half ohm and be just fine.
@@Facekicker Not that brave to be honest. lol. Would probably rise to over 1 Ohm either way I guess. Any particular reason you'd choose the regular 5k over the 5k Bass though?
@@image91 if you're using a DSP the bass crossover isn't necessary, and the regular Smart amp will simply put out a bit more power at 0.5 than the Bass model and at a slightly lower cost.
If you were not running DSP then I'd suggest the Bass model purely because of the crossovers.
@@Facekicker Will definitely be running a DSP. Don't trust the on board processing on most full-bridge amps to be honest. Was considering the regular Smart 5k but to be extra safe I might still go with the Bass version.
@@LoudStereoTINYDICK Hm. Can any other factors be causing it to get that hot? Ended up getting two Smart 3k bass. Waiting to install them
About 5900 or 6000 on the dot
Got a question. I just got 2 skar vxf 15's dual 2 ohms. Debating on getting 2 smart 3 bass being wired down to 1 ohm each or should i get a smart 5 bass and wire the subs down to .5
If it were me, I'd run the Smart5 Bass.
@@Facekicker okay cool thanks man! I should be fine wiring it down to .5 right?
@@Jdm_ryannn absolutely. And you are very welcome!
I have d1 subs what would be better option for me smart 5K or smart 5 bass?

What gain settings were used
Set to max clean and 8db overlap with DD1+
I have a question is this smart bass better then the regular smart 5?
Right same question I've been asking
So I just got mine in mail yesterday. So this will support dual 1/0 inputs? Cuz my smart 3 did not. I'm just wondering if I should order some or not?
Sorry, you answered that at the end lol.
@@1ohmwrecker it does, but after all the testing we figured the factory 2x 2/0 inputs are sufficient, it was overkill to add dual inputs.

Beside money which is better the smart 3k or the smart 3k bass need it for a x12 v3
Most users will be best off with Bass Smart3k due to it having crossovers more appropriate for subwoofer use.
@Facekicker so why the 3k bass but when sum one asked u about the 5k u said the regular 5k over the 5k bass..I wanna know which is better of the 2??smart 5k or 5k bass..
So if i have problems with this amp hows the warranty ? Seems so be mostly good with customers but im unlucky 😂😂
Taramps support is top notch my dude
Heeey what was the power setup for this run
Just ran on a CMAX with no charging
Is this good for 2subs running at total 4000rms(2000rms each) or will the new smart bass 8k benefit me more since there is more headroom for peak gains ?
Subs are two:
Ds18 Exl XX12 2000rms (4000 peak)
Personally I'd stick with the 5k model.
They are 2ohm DVC
Would you run them at 2ohm or .5 ohm ?
@@EazyBuildz half ohm and gained clean
Thanks for your support
Would the smart 8k bass be too much for them or it's just personal preference ?
@@EazyBuildz More battery needed, subs won't take any more power than the 5k imo
I jus would like to know which is better of the 2.The smart 5k or the smart 5k bass??
Generally speaking, the Bass model is better for the crossovers.. If running a DSP or HU with adjustable xover settings, there are cases the regular Smart5k will make a tad more power.
@Facekicker ok thanks..yea I jus went ahead and got got the bass version figured it cost more and said bass at the end for a reason..maybe I was wrong lol..But too late now..either way its still a decent amp for the price compared to like the salt amps and jp amps
Just drives me a little crazy because I like taramps but I actually accept what they can do vs some other people that act like its a true full-blown true Brazilian amp when taramps don't even do that.. if you wanna talk about Sound quality and control and it's a true full Bridge amp go with powerus or prv
The Smart series are Brazilian full bridge and this model was designed by Taramps from the ground up. Not sure what you are trying to suggest.
Wonder if this will do ok wired at .35 I have .7 coils
Burps should be ok. Music at some frequencies might get attenuated.
You'd also want to know rise at peak frequency, you would want to rise between 1.5 and 2 ohms to see the most power.
Im curious how you set the gain on this. do you set it as if it were a .5ohm load or a 2 ohm load?
Ohm load doesn't matter, it's set unloaded to max clean, same as you would do in a vehicle.
Yea cuz BIG D did this amp and his results are different then your's..I have the amp and on 1 ohm I'm pulling more then what u said at 14.4v
@@cali8221 his bench and your car are different than my bench, so differences in performance are unavoidable.
@@Facekicker i guess this is my confusion; if you have a 2 ohm load, then the amp would need to put out 100 volts to the subs to make 5000 watts of power. But if the amp puts that same 100 volts into a .5 ohm load, you would be getting 20,000 watts, obviously that's completely unreasonable. A .5 ohm load only needs 50 volts to get 5000 watts. So if I set the gain and it doesn't reach clipping until ~100 volts then how is it safe to run a .5 ohm load with that gain setting? Does the amp detect the lower ohm load and reduce the output accordingly?
@@Facekicker ok..was jus trying get an idea..I went ahead and jus bought the 5k bass and 2 skar vxf 15s D4 and had a box made 6.5 cubes tuned to 30hz
And maybe see if the Amps do more power @ 15.8v on smart 5k
Smart amps won't do much more above 14.4v
@@Facekicker they state they do up to 16v on their specs
@@josephhammond2557 they operate up to 16v, but output won't really increase above 14.4v.
I've been running a smart 5k at 15.1v for a while and haven't had any problems
Is it 🤔 possible to wire to .01 ohms ?
No, that's essentially a dead short
Which would you take a spl amp smart 5k or smart bass 5k?
Depends on application.
If it was a situation I needed to wire to .5 I'd run the Bass model, otherwise if wiring to 1 ohm I would use the regular Smart 5k.
@@Facekicker that's what I was thinking but I wanted to make sure a smart 5000 it is. Thank you for all of the good video always enjoy watching them!!!

@@mattfoster1077 I heard they come out defective.
Manufacturer ratings are 5k at 0.5ohm ~2ohms but dyno tests are 4,5k at 0.5ohm ~2ohms. This means that manufacturers lie?
What's up with no bass knob on these? That's a deal breaker.
A knob that can be had for $10 is a deal breaker?
Get an Axxess RCA bass knob and call it good.
Many amps, especially some of the higher end Koreans, come without and assuming you will use an RCA knob which is better.
@@Facekicker I use my stock HU, so I send signal back to my amps through speaker level. If I wanted to use an RCA solution for the sub amp, I'd have to run RCA from the trunk back up to my dash, then back to the amp in the trunk again. Kind of a PITA and a lot of extra wire. They should just put a gain knob on the monitor unit that comes with the amp.
@@joshhaimes in your situation you're right, it would be easier if it came with one. And yeah, that would be the way around it, running RCAs both directions - we've done similar in our install shop.
Taramps is always innovating though so we may see them include bass knobs in the future.
@@joshhaimes tap into speaker levels at the headunit and mount line out converter behind the dash or under your seat. Easy
The audio control line out converters either come with or you can buy a bass knob for them. Also check out the Wavtech linkDQ, line converter with bass knob and adds a parametric bass EQ. Ive used this one with great results, I like it better than the audio control ones personally.

400 for a 8k??NO ..A smart 5k bass is over 500..
This is a lot less than the normal smart 5 something is definitely wrong here.
It's a different amp, it has different benefits
Right
I have seen .5 rise to 1ohm or a little more but not to 2 ohms. But the power your talking about won't happen on a taramps because they can't handle that huge current (Full-Time). I know your dynamic results where gonna be good because of the type of music they listen to in Brazil is real thumpish meaning this is why taramps (don't like) playing lows, I didn't say they won't I said they don't like to. I'm pretty sure the bass line sounds no different from the normal smart 5 or HD line they are full of crape. I'm just saying all this because the hate on these amps is real but the type of people that buy stand up for them in the wrong way. They will get all but hurt if you say taramps lake in controll or taramps don't hit lows good. When it comes down to it, it's a cheap awesome power.
You've got a few things wrong.
Please stop sharing misinformation.
@@Facekicker 4 ohms should not pull that much amps and put out that much watts. I'm not hating I'm just saying it how how it is. 💯 if I'm bitching why would I consider running one? Im telling the truth about these amps. Besides less power can sometimes just be better. you don't need a 5k amp doing 10k if someone wants a 10k they would have gotten a salt 4 by sundown. Now I was very impressed by the salt series by sundown. That's a amp you can fully stand behind if I was to come saying all this stuff about the taramps.
