- No intro, no fluffy voice over hyping it up, just 4x4 content and the Unimog doing what it does best!
Everyone comparing their Toyota Yaris' capabilities to the most capable 4x4 vehicle in the world, feel free to join us for the next Sunday drive HAHAH! We all know that video's don't do the track justice, but moreso, the Unimogs make the tracks look like a stroll in the park!
#unidanengineering #mercedesbenz #unimog #unimoglife #4x4 - Авто/Мото
The UNIMOG - UNIversal-MOtor-Gerät - is one of the coolest and best cars in the world. period!
This makes it even more fun to watch all the videos of people struggling and making a mess of their cars on these very same hills.
didnt seen any real challenging section in this track, looks super easy and so wide, plenty of line options
I've driven a late 60s Unimog offroad, it was a beast. It went everywhere I pointed it and rode like a car.
Yes they are fun to drive 👍
SUVs compard with Unimog are like kindergarden childs compared with adults. 😂
Thankful.
Another legend in the making !
Unimog is a legend allready in Europe.
this is so relaxing!
Mogs are simply the best !!!
When only the best will do!
I want one for California, gonna fit a small living space on the rear, a little hunting cabin, and live a nice, quiet life in the woods
Main advantage over, any other 4wd, Portal Axles and it's size for ground clearance. It's a beast though!
Yes, except it's not the only vehicle with portal axles.
Yes, a lovely beast. Friendly greetings from Warsaw in Poland to Unidan and all 4x4-lovers.
Yep, apart from the torque, gearing, ramp angles, it's only the portals that give the Mog and advantage 🤨
And the front and rear locking diffs perhaps...? 😂
What a beauty! Now that's a truck!
As a German, I would like to contribute some factual information here: The Unimog (abbreviation for "Universelles Motoreinsatzgerät") and the MAN KAT 1 (the most extreme truck in the world to this day, according to many) were originally developed for the German military to serve as a supply and ammunition replenishment vehicle alongside the tanks of the time in the event of war. The requirement was therefore quite simple: any destination that the tank could reach must also be able to be reached by the two vehicles when fully loaded.
That clanking is the diff lock I think, limited slip diff is quieter.
The driver knows, what he is doing :)
UNIversal MOtor Gerat=LEGEND ❤
You can add in, gearing, tork/power transfers, the whole drive train, twisting frame, diffs an a partridge in a pear tree too.😂😂😂😂😂😂❤❤❤❤❤
Oh an that awesomemotor
Love love
Love it!!!
Yes agreed. Iveco have a really top class 4x4. Powerstar trucks also. MAN trucks are also fantastic, used by the military.
Yup, used to be driven around in a 6x6 MAN towing a 155mm howitzer. Never attempted anything really off-road like this because we were towing a 9.2T gun.
A beast
This one with a house . The G waggon 4x4 squared , a 911 and I’d be happy concerning the car department - perhaps a Cayenne .
Seen this today in big 4 rainbow beach an headin to the barge at Inskip Point with van in tow cool rig
Super!!!💪🏻🔥🚜💣
Drove the 85 to 89 models in the army. I would love to get one as my daily driver. It parked better in McDonald’s car park than a rover ( has brilliant vision of all corners) but the drive thru was not an option.
And it could handle anything! I was actually lucky enough to drive the one fitted with high speed axles (for the wynns rally). Yep they are a great vehicle! I remember driving one when there were still a lot on international F1’s around and out the back of NSW a heap were stuck in the mud. I turned up with a ‘mog and someone said “you won’t get that through there” pointing to the bogged F1’s no worries I said and put it in low range diff lock and got through easy!
Great vid. Good to finally see a Unimog vid on YT with proper offroad and driving to match. For comparison, how did the lead car (Patrol?) manage getting up that last section? And for interests sake, would love to see how it goes laden.
Thanks for the comment! The lead car was a highly modified 2003 GU Patrol with bead locks, lockers and reduction gears, the list goes on. They did everything that we did, however there was definitely a lot more shuffling around the track and choosing different lines as they progressed up the hill, more revving etc. Whereas in the Mog we just picked our gear, picked our line and had no trouble getting up anything.
Unfortunately, we don't get too much free time to go out testing our vehicles and having fun but we will definitely think about loading her up next time we do!
What brand of wheels are on the mog
@@redbitter1232 Mercedes-Benz factory Steel bead lock rims 20x10", fitted with Michelin XZL 395/85R20 tyres.
Nice..power 4x4
Same investment as a 79 Series..except these are capable, have reasonable fuel economy and have more up to date styling…
Quem crê no Filho tem a vida eterna;
( João, 3:16,36 )
"Ele vos vivificou, estando vós mortos nos vossos delitos e pecados,
Porque pela graça sois salvos, por meio da fé, e isto não vem de vós, é dom de Deus;
O verdadeiro cristão ama porque Deus o amou primeiro.
"Porque, se com a tua boca confessares a Jesus como Senhor, e em teu coração creres que Deus o ressuscitou dentre os mortos, será salvo;
( Romanos, 10:9,13 )
But only 80kph top speed. (I have driven them)
Would make a great overlander truck
Bravo
I want it so badly
My dream is an electric unimog with the same capabilities!
Would have been great to see it in action on a challenging track that a regular 4WD can't handle. So far this looks like it's an overkill if you're only driving on these tracks
I think you would be surprised at how steep that climb actually is, how high those ledges are and deep the trenches are. Most 4WD drive sedans even if heavily modified would struggle taking the line the Mog took.
Drive the thing through your front door would that be enough for yea, pin head
This is a challenging track a regular 4wd cant hand😅
@@DeePunter What?
Where the big 4x4 track for the big Unimog, that looks like my driveway on my farm!
Now again, with a full load... ;-)
Find us 5tonne of concrete blocks, unfortunately we don't have that laying around. But that's the beauty of the Unimog, you can take a lot of gear far off the beaten track and know that you will get there and home safely.
Looks top-heavy
Definitely not. The Unimog's have a low centre of gravity with a tipping angle of 38 degrees.
This is awesome, wish they would of continued to sell these in America
The big 3 doesn't want a real truck in America come on now
Lol because this is a better tractor/truck
Schön!
Would have loved to seen the interior.
We have lots of images of the interior on our websites, www.unidan.com.au and www.mbuc.com.au
wow! how much do one of these cost?
que ruedas usa?
Wow ❤ Genial
How good is the unimog
Nice looking Unimog, what year and model is it?
2021 U5023 as it says in the title
How much does it cost?
I can't imagine how expensive this truck must be. At a stretch, I'll be able to afford a an old 1980s ADF truck 🇦🇺
The ex-ADF Mog's are a heap of fun and will get you to some pretty extreme places. The majority of our previous vehicles (and most that we still have) are ADF and most of our customers are in these old girls. Definitely can't discredit them.
225k give or take :)
About the same price as a kitted out 79 series 🤣
Perfect base for a 4WD off-road motor home - I wonder if it’ll pull all that extra weight, though
Well bearing in mind that it's just a platform for a huge array of add ons and attachments I would say that adding accommodation on the back would be no big deal. I think it's big shortcoming would be that it's probably not a good economical highway cruiser.
Don’t need one, but I want one hahaha. I can imagine having one rigged out for pipeline welding woohaa
Torque, gearing, portals, 3 lockers, clearance, flex, load capacity... total package.
Turbo-diesel, coil springs, compressed air pressurised axles / inflation ........
Intake snorkel too
I guess Unimog is the best 4x4 off-road truck in the world !
Just wondering why you didn't go through the puddle a 4:01 ? That would have been good to see. Good looking thing though
Because cleaning it makes driving it a lot less fun! HAHAH
@@unidanengineering can't fault you there lol.
No electrically folding side view mirrors? /sarc 😂
Cool to see a unimog can go anywhere a stock 4x4 on 33s can
True, however remember the unimog as a platform can get much larger GVWR payloads so for specialized off-road needs (fire, science exploration, etc..) it's a good fit. Niche vehicle is all.
The Unimog can go everywhere the stock 4×4 on 33s can go while hauling a broken stock 4×4 on 33s.
And pulling another.
Hahahahaha nice comment about comparing to the Yaris.
The Yaris wouldn't last the first 20 seconds on that course.
Oh what a crappy Feeling - Toyota
Can you make a comparison between MB Unimog and the Gaz Sadko Next review?
Sorry, that's highly unlikely. Wasn't even sure what that was until we Googled it, so the chances of finding one in Australia are slim-to-none.
@@unidanengineering AAV4x4 distributed it in Aus. and its way more cheaper compared to a Unimog yet still brand new. They are also tough since its a Russian made trucks.
@@RowynDaily happy to be educated, thanks for letting us know! Could be interesting to get AAV out at the local 4x4 track for a comparison.
@@unidanengineering and that's going to be an epic review, coming 🔜!!
That's the beauty of a powerful engine with simple ladder frame construction, much much better than unibody construction
?? The Unimog does not have a ladder frame construction. The torque tube suspension and unique chassis design allow it to be more capable off road.
Your both right!!! "Unlike a traditional truck, the Unimog makes use of an unusual ladder frame that sacrifices rigidity for flexibility. The suspension makes use of torque tubes, transverse links, and coil springs that allow for a fantastic degree of articulation, ensuring that the wheels remain in contact with the ground even when forced at extreme angles."
Glass House mountain?
No, Gold Coast.
ruts? what ruts 😀
Just out of interest, how easy do you think that would have been in your U218 UGE?
The majority of these tracks would have been do-able in the UGE Unimog range. We wouldn't take any of the UGE range up the hill climbs in the last 2 clips as these were a lot steeper than they appear in the video and there was some quite big step ups that would very likely take out the radiator housing due to the lower ramp over of these Unimogs.
@@unidanengineering I went 4x4 for the first time on these tracks in my Jimny, the climbs are very steep in person, Unimog killed it! 👍
Unimog 🇩🇪💪💪💪👍👍👍🎥👍
The funny thing is that the regular truck is following with no problem.🤷♂️
Comparison video coming soon.
Is there any way to get this truck in USA? import ?
As far as we are aware, no. The import laws in the US prohibit these vehicles to be imported. However, we also do conversions and restorations of the old Unimog and bring them up to look very much like a new Unimog, as well as increasing the drive comfort etc.. These older restorations can be imported.
Did the other vehicles behind it leaving loads of room really think a Unimog would have to back up or bail at some point?
Better to be safe than sorry, I suppose. Plus, you don't want to form bad habits and become complacent and then when you are in a less ideal situation, get yourself into strife.
If people say that most of the tracks around the world have been cut using a landrover or toyota landcruiser eg, the track on this beast must make it harder to drive on those tracks as it would be constantly riding over the banks, is that a fair statement or just another bush story?
On the contrary, having the wider track means that you can straddle the bog holes that people have caused in their less-capable 4WD's. You'll see throughout the video, there were a lot of places that we went which would have been quite harsh for a standard 4x4, but with our wider track, we went through it seamlessly.
@@unidanengineering yes i did notice that
Bila aq ada uang cukup, pingin rasanya beli Unimog 1 unit double cabin walau itu termasuk truk. Dan naiknya ke cabin juga susah.
Makes everything look small.
Can I buy one of these here in the states?
Unfortunately you can't purchase a new one in the USA. However, we can import older restored vehicles. Check out our website to see some of the restorations that we have previously completed - www.unidan.com.au
Hell any stock 4x4 can go on the bunny trail, let's see that $250,000 asphalt queen do some real rock crawling.
To be fair, it could have done all that just the same with a landcruiser strapped on to it
And that's 100% what we tell everyone we talk to. Sure, other vehicles can do it but the Unimog will still be able to do it with several tonnes of gear on it, and even towing (as long as the trailer is just as capable). I'd love to see a standard 4x4 do the same. Oh wait, it'd be stuck at the weigh bridge with a fine.
@@unidanengineering Dude if your going to show a "4x4" show it doing something hard. Not a bunny trail that a moped could go on.
@@doskraut We weren't saying these are 'hectic' tracks. People ask for more content all the time, this is what we give them because this is our local track. Sorry we're flat out running an actual business and don't have time to be RUclips 'influencers' getting the right angles so that these tracks look insane. If we were true RUclipsr's we would be on the same track but the angles, sound effects and our commentary would make everyone think we had just conquered the unachievable (but hat's off to people who do RUclips full time and have the passion to make money out of their art).
What we are trying to show is not "omg look we got up, that was sooo hard", we're showing that somewhere that is difficult for a standard 4x4 is a walk in the park for a Unimog. It's a niche vehicle, built for purpose and majority of our customers and viewers 'purpose' is not to find the most difficult track and get through it. It's to travel anywhere they want and know that the vehicle will do it with ease, safely and they can take their home away from home with them.
@@unidanengineering > Sorry we're flat out running an actual business and don't have time to be RUclips 'influencers'.
Yet you have the time to do the off road video. LMAO
I love those trucks but that off-road course is weak.
I had a lost old girl friend who lusted after one of these and had the money to buy it, I think she changed her mind as for tough work they are probably a two person device in close work. I am still envious of her original decision to look into one. oh well.
it will be more fun to watch it with some weight on the back of it
4x4 Track ?
This is cheat code
I did not see anything in this video that could'nt be done in either a Hino or Isuzu??
Happy for someone to bring one out and do it side by side. We aren’t claiming that it couldn’t be done in another vehicle but the ease and comfort in which it is done in a Unimog is second to none. I personally like having my kidneys intact after a day of travelling
Price ?

The Unimog is great but It's not an idiot-proof off-road vehicle, it still requires skill to drive it.

Just imagine how much more could be unlocked if this was electric!!
Unfortunately, very little. Electric off-road trucks are unlikely to be a realistic future development. Current on-road electric trucks have a range of approx. 150km, and the charge times are still astronomical. It would be great, in theory, but highly impractical in reality. We are more likely to be seeing e-fuels be the dominant solution in the future.
@@unidanengineering When the battery technoligy gets to the point of doubling energy density, and dropping a 500 KW/HR battery from a semi in there that might shake things up.

Pretty sure a Prius would get through those tracks...
If wildland firefighters uses that truck, it means good. No need to invest on sth advertised as good or shown good on paper.
This should be fully electric...!
Unfortunately, if it was, we wouldn't make it far past the entrance before running out of charge.
