this was the last of the high quality OVA era then they switched over to digipaint. I don't hate modern anime I think they're is still amazing anime being put out today, but of course I still miss the old stuff.
this is the only flcl edit ive seen that doesnt seem to glorify the relationship between naota and mamimi, thank you for actually understanding enough about the show to make a respectable edit.
I've honestly never paid too much attention to it, but like 8/10 of the relationship's in FLCL are just straight weird or were really unhealthy from the get go.
People are definitely sleeping on Alternative and Progressive, but the original FLCL has been regarded as a classic for years. It's just that it's old. Real damn good, but it's just not in the spotlight anymore. Saying it's a secret or that it doesn't get the recognition it deserves is like saying Trigun went under the radar. Sure, no one really talks about it anymore, but it was hot shit two decades ago.
I've always thought of it as one of the greatest animes of all time. You could even make a good argument that it's possibly the best anime of all time. It's not my cup of tea unfortunately but I respect the hell out of it. But yeah, Idk why crap like Demon Slayer and Naruto get more hype than stuff like this or Monster.
Tbh I think the theme of FLCL is to not let your pride get the best of you and also to enjoy your your youth. This anime is so hard to understand though completely but for anyone new please watch it, I'm planning on tripping acid and rewatching this next month, for 2000 the art and animation is also beautiful
The funny thing my father and mother watched this show and I rewatch it every year nexted to his grave and with my mother ( my mother is still alive) rip dad 1980-2020
That makes sense, since Naota is trying so hard to be something he isn't while the dad he hates is comfortable with himself and seems to be secretly the most mature human in the setting. I think it's more about being yourself, and part of that is enjoying your youth and not posturing so much like Naota.

For this anime to drop when i was a teen was a blessing to me it hits the notes of "What am i supposed to do? I'm constantly compared to others but can i really stack up?" Extremely well along with all the zaniness there's a lot of growing up to it at least that's my interpretation ❤️

I didn't like FLCL and looking back, I feel like I understand why. I had put my expectations too high. I learned you shouldn't do this with any piece of media, and it's best to go in with little to no expectations. I want to rewatch FLCL since I've been listening to the soundtrack quite a bit recently. Songs like this one, Last Dinosaur, and One Life are amazing and make me really want to rewatch (without expectations).
I had the the opposite experience. I went in expecting a typical anime but it ended up as one of my favorites. But it did make me expect a lot from other animes, which sadly made it difficult to get into them because i thought they were too similar and generic.

It is that one show you shoud rewatch every 3 years or so. The main theme of flcl is growing up, and the best way to enjoy and understand this is by simply do so when growing up. It just gets better everytime, but this also makes it hard to watch while still to young. Truly an outstanding anime! (Not to mention the refferences and chaotic structure in general)
Well it happened the same to me, I have already watched a resume and an analysis so... I will wait to next year to watch it once I've already forgotten

@@FYCYmost animes are made with the intention of being long and telling a plot, so it makes sense they won’t have big animation show offs in the shows
