"Even though my total indifference to the Church that perfectly represents my theology proves that there's no way I will ever come back to the Catholic faith, you guys will still cast aside your vows 'to be faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church until death' and overturn thousands of years of tradition in a pathetic attempt to woo me... right?" Card. Ouellet: "No." Card. Turkson: "No." Card. Scola: "No." Pope Francis: "...let's talk!" Sigh. I'm (actually) Catholic, and appreciate this video, both for its theology and for what has turned out to be its incredible overoptimism.
As a Catholic I find this very funny but oh so true. Once in a while we need a smack in the face to wake us up...just like Martin Luther once did. Thanks.
That woman is exactly like my grandma. I'm a Catholic, and I have arguments with her all the time on Catholic doctrine. I swear, I learned more about the Catholic Faith in two months than she did in 70 years.
So much information is available online now. Not like in the past. Where it all had to come from reading actual physical books that you had to buy from religious bookstores, because your local bookstore didn't carry a wide selection of religious books. It was a time consuming endeavor. Now-a-days you can just whip out your phone and specifically look up any religious topic and get both good solid and bad misleading information on the topic. You can formulate your position and learn about other people's positions at the tap of a screen.
I figured. When I was a monk in St. Louis, I was invited to a couple of scotch parties at Concordia Seminary. They were awesome. And we didn't have to pretend that we were the same. I thought they were wrong and they thought I was wrong (Catholic vs. Authentic Lutheran belief) but we respected each other, and not this pretend fantasy that we all mean the same thing. We knew our differences and went from there. The Missouri Synod is the only Protestant Ecclesial Body I respect...the ONLY ONE.
I love your videos. When are you going to do one on the early years of the reformation, you know, when a number of schisms occurred between all the reformation leaders. Thanks!
I think we found our pedagogy for Ecumenical Dialogue. As a devout Catholic I'm so grateful for this! HYSTERICAL!! Is this the Missouri Synod? Can't be ELCA!
Kind of surprised to read comments from so many Catholics--and methinks they protest too much. OTOH, maybe consider Lutheran Satire is providing a valuable service in helping our Catholic cousins (we think they're cousins, they're the ones who think we're not!) acquire a sense of humor.
"Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church." - Ignatius of Antioch 107 AD Sounds pretty Lutheran to me (sarcasm)
Thank you for your response. Although you think the method of baptism is unimportant, I have encountered protestants who believe that full immersion is the only valid method. Baptism is just one example, we could use the place of Mary and the Saints, the day of worship (Sat. vs Sun), the exact nature of the Eucharist, abortion or many other doctrines upon which the protestant world does not agree. My point is, if Protestantism is true, how do we fulfil Matthew 18:17?
Hey, Catholics and Lutherans alike, let's stop bickering until we've eliminated secularism from our culture, OK? Then we can debate the finer points of the faith very easily. Right now, let's be worried about the fact that a rainbow heart is on top of the very RUclips page we're all on, or any of the countless other developments against Christianity in our culture over the past years and months.
The petra (rock) being Simon's confession, "You are the Christ," and Petros being the new name given to Simon by Jesus (a la Abram to Abraham and Jacob to Israel) as the masculine form of the feminine petra.
Jacob, as a fellow Catholic, I share your love and enthusiasm for the Church that Jesus Christ established. But both Pope JP2 and Pope Benedict XVI encouraged a spirit of brotherhood and charity within Christian ecumenical dialog.
Back to earth: All modern semi democratically elected bishops, are done so contrary to the decrees of the 7 Councils. The last determination, as I recall, was that three bishops were required to be present, at a public institutional mass, in order to install and ordain a bishop. Today things depend upon lobbying efforts from the grass roots (teenagers, and retired people[ this is because no working class persons can be found to be delegates])and vested interests of political correctness.
That`s why the Church has 4 traits: One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic and its usually the last one most Christians are missing. Only the Catholic Church, Orthodox Churches and Oriental Orthodox Churches are able to trace all their bishops back to the apostles ;)
That is an extremely modern interpretation of the passage and one that defies the grammar of Matthew 16:18. Even Martin Luther acknowledged the primacy of Peter among the Apostles. Or consider the words of Protestant scholar W.F. Albright, "Peter as the Rock will be the foundation of the future community, the church....To deny the pre-eminent position of Peter among the disciples or in the early Christian community is a denial of the evidence."
Perfect satire because it is so true. Now, let us Catholics and Lutherans laugh together at it and realize in our mutual laughter how much we share. Pax vobiscum.
Also, the many thousands of groups which claim to be part of some large invisible "catholic" church, all teach different doctrines. Can differing and contradictory doctrines exist harmoniously in the one true church? Can infant baptism be both valid and invalid? Is predestination true and not true? If this big invisible church is the true church, than doctrine must not matter, or it is acceptable to hold differing and contradictory doctrines.
I hate those computer voices so much that I automatically thumbs down and click away when I hear it but not today. It's still hard for my artillery burdened ears to parse but I go enough to realize you're spot on here.
This is what happens when Lutherans understand Catholicism better than most "Catholics". Reminds me of the big Protestant paper headline in 2005----"Shocker! ..Pope is Catholic"
“Will the Catholic church’s war on women ever end?” Literally the Catholic Church: Mary is the New Eve, the Queen of Heaven, Ark of the New Covenant, the greatest creature in God’s creation and she is one of three people to be assumed into heaven.
1 Timothy 3:15 describes the Church as "the pillar and bulwark of the truth". Matthew 18:17 tell us that if one refuses to listen even to the Church they are to be treated as a gentile and tax collector. How does a Protestant reconcile that to Sola Scriptura? If two Protestants have differing views on say infant baptism, which one of the 40000+ denominations must they listen to so as to fulfill Matthew 18:17? Since many Protestant seem to hold differing and contradictory doctrines.
The women priests thing is a valid question. There were probably many women who spread the Gospel in house churches during the beginning of Christianity. And we still use women heavily as missionaries. It makes sense for someone to ask why its okay to teach the Gospel as a missionary but not as a priest.
Unfortunately, Pope Francis was chosen instead of any of these cardinals and current events have revealed that Pope Francis' answer to the question at 2:03 is apparently "Yes."

1. Yes. 2. False. 3. False. 4. Even if it were true, doesn't guarantee their orthodoxy. 5. Jesus did. 5. Non-sequiter. 6. As opposed to the Catholic Church, which has no competing theologies or practices whatsoever;-) RUclips makes it too hard to debate in comments sections. Message me if you would like to continue sparring.
But in reality a bunch of bishops get to decide who they believe the voice of GOD is....... YEA they did a great job with this last nut job...... Its a good thing he has no more power or authority than any other man on this planet....
im trying to get the point of this video, are you saying this woman is right or are you saying she is just uninformed, cause she seemed pretty uninformed to me
Dear Greg, I believe the Eastern Orthodox would historically object with your statements especially with "The Catholic Church gave you the Bible, the Church fathers are overwhelmingly Catholic to the core."
Michael Avila when the Council of Trent anathematized belief in salvation by grace alone, can we not even count that one thing? I mean really? Anathematizing Paul and the church in Ephasus?
+User_error What separates the sheep who follow Christ versus the goats who pretended they do? Matthew 25:31-46 1. Did you feed the hungry? 2. Did you clothe the naked? 3. Did you give a drink to the thirsty, etc. No where does Jesus ever say "those who believe in me"
Keys = Papacy When Christ gave Peter the Keys to the Kingdom, He didn't pull that expression out of thin air. There is a long standing tradition in the Davidic Kingdom/Dynasty that Peter & the rest of the apostles would have understood immediately when Jesus brought it up. And the "key" of the house of David I will lay upon his shoulder; He shall open and no one shall shut, He shall shut and no one shall open." Isaiah 22:22.
"the minor differences between Christians is not important. what is important is...." My Bible doesn't have a list of the doctrines that are important and the doctrines that are not important, can you refer me to a good Protestant Bible which contains such a list? 1 Timothy 1:3 - "stay there in Ephesus so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines any longer"
Unless you want to be elected the bishop of misogyny, don't interrupt me.
I'm Catholic and wasn't sure what to expect opening this video... It was hilarious, well done.
im Catholic and i still love you! feel more of a bond with you than about 95% of Catholics
As a Catholic, I also like some of the content.
We Lutherans feel more of a bond with y’all than most Protestants, so the feeling is mutual!
I think at least one of those bishops named has recently answered "yes, absolutely" to number 3.
Nah
Just noticed you introduced the bishops as "bachelors"....lolz
Technically he's not wrong.
Confirmed bachelors.
"Even though my total indifference to the Church that perfectly represents my theology proves that there's no way I will ever come back to the Catholic faith, you guys will still cast aside your vows 'to be faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church until death' and overturn thousands of years of tradition in a pathetic attempt to woo me... right?"
Card. Ouellet: "No."

Card. Scola: "No."
Pope Francis: "...let's talk!"
Sigh. I'm (actually) Catholic, and appreciate this video, both for its theology and for what has turned out to be its incredible overoptimism.
Lol Pope Francis has zero intentions of doing any of that
Haven't seen Cardinal Schonborn's Francis-endorsed interpretation of Amoris Laetita, then, eh?
Laura H, I appreciate your sarcasm.
BCSWowbagger - referring to Antipope Bergoglio as Pope Francis was satire, right?
Servants, obey your masters
As a Catholic I find this very funny but oh so true. Once in a while we need a smack in the face to wake us up...just like Martin Luther once did.
Thanks.
Things i have never expected to read!
Too funny! Especially the part about the Episcopal church.
Where was that joke?
That woman is exactly like my grandma. I'm a Catholic, and I have arguments with her all the time on Catholic doctrine. I swear, I learned more about the Catholic Faith in two months than she did in 70 years.

As a Catholic, I would like to thank you for a great laugh!
I am afraid that woman kind of got at least half of her wish when it comes to the newest in the lines of Antipopes in Rome.
This aged like a fine wine.
"But seriously though the Catholic Church is still wrong about like 15,364 things."
How many canons were there in the Council of Trent?
I figured. When I was a monk in St. Louis, I was invited to a couple of scotch parties at Concordia Seminary. They were awesome. And we didn't have to pretend that we were the same. Lol "unless you want to be elected pope of massogany don't interupt me!"
Catholic and loving this video! :) Thanks for making it!
orthodox Catholic guy here. Loved the video!
That was right on the money!!! man, I am very thankful.
Excellent! So close to reality can it really be called satire?
Also, the use of the Match Game theme song is a nice touch.
Good satire is often close to indistinguishable from reality.
Hilarous! You nailed it, Lutherans..Now let's talk about that "transubstantiation" thing..
:-D !
As a Catholic this is 100% correct!
It is the Missouri Synod. This is most certainly true.
I think we found our pedagogy for Ecumenical Dialogue. As a devout Catholic I'm so grateful for this! HYSTERICAL!! Is this the Missouri Synod? Can't be ELCA!

Most of the Catholics I see here find this and many other Lutheran Satire videos hilarious and often true.
Who knew???? Lutherans are this funny...excellent video. I am Catholic and have met this chick about a dozen times.
Make her the Cardinal of Chicago or Vienna; no one would notice the difference, except for her long hair.
I know a lot of Catholics think that Martin Luther was a vulgar vow-breaking anti-semitic drunk but he did write a few good hymns.
Brilliant!! I love it!!
*clap, clap*
Yes, this just made my day!
"Wherever the bishop shall appear, there let the multitude [of the people] also be; even as, wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church." - Ignatius of Antioch 107 AD

Ex follower of catholicism here. Funny stuff. Keep it up
With regard to Display Chicken’s remark; I believe that it’s “catholic church”.
Only 15,364 more things to agree on before this sepeartion can end! :) Great video

Amen, brother!
The petra (rock) being Simon's confession, "You are the Christ," and Petros being the new name given to Simon by Jesus (a la Abram to Abraham and Jacob to Israel) as the masculine form of the feminine petra.
This is the greatest thing in the history of great things.
Technically it was 1.30 times faster than usual. Sorry if it was a bit too much, I was trying to keep the robo-speech from dragging.
Do Baptists next, do Baptists next!
That is funny! Seems like I date about 100 RC women like her in my misspent youth. lol
good use of the Match Game intro music. I sorta expected a cameo from Charles Nelson Reilly.
The speech seems about 15,364 times faster than usual.
Jacob, as a fellow Catholic, I share your love and enthusiasm for the Church that Jesus Christ established. But both Pope JP2 and Pope Benedict XVI encouraged a spirit of brotherhood and charity within Christian ecumenical dialog.

I actually watched the game show that theme song was from. Don't remember the name, but it was very, very 70s.
Match Game
I was baptized Catholic and raised Lutheran. I went to a Lutheran parochial school for 5 years so I know where they're coming from.
"Unless you want to be elected Bishop of Misogyny, don't interrupt me." HA HA HA
How many pre lutherans believe in the true body, blood soul and divinity of the Eucharist and 7 sacraments?
Well done!
Come on RC Luther(an) bashers! Did your sense of humor go out with the Gospel in 1563? Lighten up
Luther is and always will be a heretic, doesn't stop from laughing at this video which happens to be quite true if you aren't a Traditionalist.
That`s why the Church has 4 traits: One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic and its usually the last one most Christians are missing. Only the Catholic Church, Orthodox Churches and Oriental Orthodox Churches are able to trace all their bishops back to the apostles ;)
Also the Anglican Church. The branch in America can trace their Succession unbroken all the way back to the Apostle James.
That is an extremely modern interpretation of the passage and one that defies the grammar of Matthew 16:18. Even Martin Luther acknowledged the primacy of Peter among the Apostles. Or consider the words of Protestant scholar W.F. Gotta love those female voices in Xtra normal xD
Perfect satire because it is so true.
Now, let us Catholics and Lutherans laugh together at it and realize in our mutual laughter how much we share.
Pax vobiscum.
Can you explain what’s wrong with the Faith?
Cardinal Peter Turkson is the cardinal archbishop of Ghana...sneaky!
Oh GOSH! LMBO! Clap clap clap clap......
Luther only had 95...about indulgences*. The list grew/grows.
That's the match game music!
Also, the many thousands of groups which claim to be part of some large invisible "catholic" church, all teach different doctrines. The last line really sold me on this.
15,364?! Does that mean we finally finished counting?
tbh many lutheran churches function by member vote
thanks for the laugh.. a great vid

Brilliant indeed :)
Prooobably could've dialed back the speed setting on her voice by about 10%. But what I could make out was funny, anyhow.
Brilliant.
Unfortunately, Pope Francis was chosen instead of any of these cardinals and current events have revealed that Pope Francis' answer to the question at 2:03 is apparently "Yes."
Actually it's lower cased catholic meaning universal, genius. ↓
Hmmm, The Bible does say:" you are Peter and Upon This Rock I Shall Build My Church" not sure where it says sola scriptura?
This was hilarious. :) Made my Catholic heart smile. Silly 'public opinion' :)

Uninformed. It's satire.
Furthermore, if Peter is not the Rock, shouldn't you be calling him Simon-Bar-Jonah?
I open this video and my suggestion turned into nothing but children's shows........ somebody doesn't like you.
1:40 hahaha
So Hans Fiene, what's your opinion on birth control?
I don’t think he realizes that he is too conservative for LCMS these days
For the first time since 2005, "we" get to play another round of Protestant grandstanding. :-)
Dear Greg, I believe the Eastern Orthodox would historically object with your statements especially with "The Catholic Church gave you the Bible, the Church fathers are overwhelmingly Catholic to the core."
So.. 15,364 is totally wrong. i'd say closer to 0.

Phillip Hickman Faith alone cannot consume the body and blood of Christ, doe.
Chip Whistler = Chuck Missler
The bachelors need to be much older.
Luther only had 95.
