My great grandfather was a convict who was transported to Western Australia, arriving Jan 1852. He was first sent to Rottnest Island (Wadjemup) where he worked as a stone mason on the now historic buildings. Shortly after, he was transferred to the town of Toodyay (pronounced (Too-jay) where he lived with the warden. After marrying the warden's daughter, he went to live in York, the first regional town in Western Australia.
Thank you so much for sharing your great grandfather's incredible journey - truly remarkable story- our next video of Perth will be about the historic towns of the Avon Valley so please stay tuned for that. Thank you so much for your comment ❤️❤️❤️
Was just there at Rottnest.... the amount of flies there was incredible......... my family and I left quickly :P BTW, my wife saw you filming in Perth CBD shopping street, she moved out of your way as you filmed and you acknowledged her with a smile.
@@kharissa_gomez yup that we knew. But the quantity of flies was just unprecedented. I really wondered how the people on the island could enjoy themselves.
Amazing video of Rotto! Thanks for showing off how amazing my home city and state is! I assume with there being an aerodrome on the island and generally speaking recreational flying of drones being banned there that you must have to get special permission to fly drones there?
Proves Western Australia is a great place to live. 999,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 flies can't be wrong. You must have been there October/November when bush fly numbers are at their highest.
What the recommended route to explore the island on day trip with bicycle? From the first point to last point until go back with ferry to Perth. Thanks!
The recommended route would be going around the island on a counterclockwise direction - meaning you start at Thomsons Bay and head North to Pinky’s Beach, the Basin, Longreach bay, West End etc - it will be much easier. In the video we caught the bus so the route is clockwise. Thank you for your comment ❤️
Rottnest is indeed a great place to visit, although a bit crowded these days... but you forgot to mention the huge great white sharks that reside in the waters there... !!
@@kharissa_gomez Your videos are nicely filmed...& some great locations... I used to live in Fremantle... & visited Bali often... I'm living in Southern Spain at the moment...on the Costa Cálida... there are some gorgeous locations along this stretch of coast... & a lot of similarities to Western Australia... I'm looking forward to watching more of your lovely videos..😊
I do agree that Rottnest is becoming really busy and also expensive but despite all of these, the beaches are great and they are also not overly crowded. I haven't mentioned Sharks but I did mention Shark Wreck at Henrietta's Rocks. Although you will find in one of our videos on Perth's Beaches that I mentioned " there are always sharks lurking around Perth's Beaches :) haha!
