- Rottnest Island is a tropical island near the city of Perth. It is special because of its beautiful beaches and blue bays, but even more because of its inhabitants! An animal that can be found nowhere else in the world lives here: the quokka. We cycle all over Rottnest Island in this episode in search of these animals and more. What an adventure!
Australia is a paradise for every traveller. The gigantic country is full of wild animals, beautiful natural places and cultural highlights. After a previous trip along the east coast of Australia, we now visit the west coast in the state of Western Australia. And how? We take the 4x4 with two rooftop tents and head out into the great outdoors. Earlier you saw us drive to the southwestern tip of Australia in Margaret River and we also visited the metropolis of Perth with its beautiful skyline. After this episode on Rottnest Island we will visit Fremantle, the Pinnacles, Geraldton, Hutt Lagoon, Calbarri National Park, Hamlin Pool, Shark Bay, François Peron, Monkey Mia, Carnarvon, Coral Bay, Ningaloo Reef, Exmouth, Cape Range National Park, Karijini National Park, Port Headland, 80 Mile Beach, Cape Keraudren and Broome.
We make our trip through Australia during a year-long world tour. We may even continue to travel indefinitely. On New Year's Day we started in Lanzarote and Fuerteventura, the Canary Islands. Then you saw us in Oman, Cape Verde, Martinique, Saint Lucia, Tobago, Grenada, the Bahamas, the United States, Mexico, Ecuador, the Galapagos Islands, Brazil, Qatar, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam and Malaysia. The next continent Australia is already our nineteenth destination. Follow us on this world tour, first in Perth, the rest of Australia and then to many more beautiful destinations! We also cross over to the Philippines and Africa! We travel non-stop all year round and film everything, with a new episode every week. Quokkas are not exclusive to Rottnest Island, as stated in the video, although that's where the largest population of roughly 10,000 live. There are about 4,000 in small groups on Australia's mainland between Perth and Albany on the southwest coast. Bald Island, off the coast of Albany, has between 600-1,000. Loss of habitat on the mainland combined with predators like birds of prey, foxes, wild dogs and feral cats have contributed to their population decline. Their species is classified as "vulnerable".
That’s true. But be careful with correcting 😅 we know this of course, but it’s the only place where you can see them as a traveler. That’s also what is said in the brochures and in the video. Did you enjoy the video? Cheers from the family 😃👍🏻
ROTTNEST ISELAND IS SO MUCH BEAUTIFUL THAT I HAVE NO WORDS TO EXPLAIN.
Magnificent views 👍
Thank you Sahanul!
WA the safest and most wonderful place to visit and better still,to live.Hot summers, warm winters, lots of sunshine❤❤❤
stunning ❤
Beautiful places, I love the sea because I live on the coast of Tel Aviv. Thanks for the interesting video 🌊🤎👍
I want to visit Tel Aviv one day. A long time ago I visited Jerusalem and the dead sea and all. But I hear good thinks about TA. Worth a trip for a video right?
love this place,Thanks for your share!
Thanks Wilson! We did also. Enjoy and happy travels 😁👍🏻
I was there in 1965 at Christmas,!!!!!
Fun fact: the dutch who found and named rottnest island also rowed a bit of the way up the Swan river where, to their amazement, they also found black swans - for which the river is named and which is also the state emblem. Until then, no european had ever seen a black swan.
By the way, ALWAYS wear a hat here. So many european tourists die here because of that lack of basic knowledge of hot desert conditions. Its EXTREMELY dangerous.
Thanks DG! In the video about Perth we explained a bit about this too. Thanks for the advice👌🏻
Beautiful video 😍

One of these days, my wife and I are going to Perth and the SW. We plan to spend a day at Rottnest Island. I want to see the Quokkas.
awesome video guys!
Thanks again, love your support 😁👍🏻
Great video!!
Thanks Ivan! Happy travels 😁👍🏻
Quokkas are also found in the south of Western Australia.
That’s true, very rare. If you want to see them Rottnest Island is the place. It’s 10.000 on Rottnest and only dozens elsewhere 😅
Your videos are are well made and crisp. Sufficient description about the places, pleasing photography, and good narration. Keep it up. Love from Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Thanks for the compliments! 😁 Great to hear that. Did you subscribe to my channel already? New videos every weekend! 🙏
The water at Rottnest is far warmer in summer when the Lewin current is running that comes form the tropics up north. There is many tropical fish at Rottnest and down the coast to Bussleton because the waters are warm. Winter the water isn't that cold, down to around 20 degrees Celcius.😊
are there beaches that you should not swim/or snorkel in?
are there warning signs nearby for these?
These guys r like dodo birds
Still a beautiful island, but it is NOT the most beautiful island in Western Australia😂 there’s lots of rlly nice retry ones but just not many ppl go there
But who says it is? It’s so special because of the Quokkas 😍 did you like the video?
Only place in the world where they turned a consentration camp into a hotel very sad 😢
There are actually a lot of hotels worldwide that are former prisons 😅 so it’s pretty common actually.
It wasnt a ‘concentration camp’ and it wasnt sad.
Car free 😂😂😂 freaking big city buses passing you all the time forcing people off the bikes. And they are not electric buses...
Car free, as in.. you can’t go there by car? I don’t get it.
I visited there when I was studying abroad. I can't forget the memories. From Japan
When I was on Rottnest Island 15 years ago bike helmets were mandatory. Does this has changed?
I like bananas
