Diagnosed by a private British neurologist at age 82 as having "Parkinsonism" about 1 year ago. Prescribed Sinemet with a lot of what I later realized was "gaslighting" talk. Said this was the gold standard drug that would put me back on my feet. Got home and took ONE tablet of Sinemet (Carbidopa/Levodopa) and my wife and I were amazed at the immediate change in me. I felt really good - no issue with balance and gait etc. I had never had tremors anyway. However in spite of continuing with twice daily Sinemet (plus the agonist Rotigotine) I never ever had that good feeling again! The neurologist was actually hostile when I reported to him 6 months later. I could see that he did not believe me. He hissed at me and said: "shush!". That was when I decided I would not see him again. I am still waiting to see an NHS neurologist. I have dreadful posture, gait and balance and can barely walk. This information is great and gives me more hope than anything else.
Any update on your condition? Did you really had parkinson? My dad is having the same issue as you, he started with levodopa and felt good for a week or so and now can barely walk. Also he never had tremors.
My HWP with Parkinson's never had tremors or shakiness. He is on C/L 2x 2x a day. Not working and I don't understand why he should still be on it. He is slow and a little stiff. He also has dementia @@roop2709
My mom was diagnosed with PSP Progressive supranucluer palsy. She is stiff her speech is not clear, left side is weak. Fall straight back. Tremors in left hand . Carb/levodpa stopped her legs from moving a lot. 5:59
Some patients with PSP or MSA ( ~ 30 %) respond to levodopa, but not like in Parkinson's disease. Substantial and persistent beneficial response to dopaminergic medications is characteristic of Parkinson's disease but not for PSP or MSA. Frequently, it is difficult to differentiate between these diseases clinically, especially during the first 5 years.
I've gone fm 100mg to 150mg of Madopar (Levadopa) - 3 times daily and notice no improvement in my symptoms (I don't have shaking or tremor) - so it's mostly non-motor symptoms
I don't have a tremors I have a stiffness with my right arm and shoulder and annoying feeling with my right leg Levodopa is not making me feel better some days I feel better without taking the meds Iam 44 years male diagnosed 4 years ago
My dad for the last 2 yrs has been struggling with those resting tremors but has never improved on sinemet- ad his symptoms are progressing rapidly - i hv seen several neurologist all confirming P.D- not sure maybe we are missing a diagnosis
Get a second opinion from a fellowship-trained movement disorder neurologist with at least three years of experience working full-time in a movement disorder clinic. There is nothing better than having peace of mind.., so you can move on.

Because levadopa isn't prescribed for non-motor symptoms. I'm very surprised you were given this.

Sinamet, Entacapone, Madopar and also Mucuna caused hallucinations in my husband. What can he take instead?

I’ve had Parkinson’s more than ten years. Ask me.😊
My meds don't work
Are you on meds? My finger tremor began 3 years ago. I have gait problems some days and some hand slowness. NO MEDS.
