Also I could likely put more bedding in there if I wanted, once you learn how to line stuff up correctly it closes really well. I could probably get two pillows, two bags and the mattresses with my rumpl blanket in there.
Sorry you mean the one that came with the ikamper right? I rolled it up and kept it stored. Recently sold the ikamper for an ikamper X Cover which has different mattress dimensions. When I unraveled the ikamper mattress to sell, that had been rolled it went right back to normal.
For yhe same price and actually a little less I could order the ikamper mattress pad and it be all one piece. I was going to order this mattress till I figured this out. Your video was excellent by the way. I went on a week long overland trip and by day 2 thar factory mattress was killing me. For the prices they charge for the Ikamper that upgraded air mat should be the factory mattress just saying
the iKamper now makes an inflatable mattress to buy separately for $349. I'm wondering if this is better. Also I thought those micro air pumps had a reverse air take out function.
They do but folding the mattresses is like 5x faster. The ikamper mattress may be better for all I know but I’m not sure. At the time I didn’t know about the ikamper one so it’s hard to say what is better.
Wow! I never priced the doubles expeds didn’t realize how expensive they have become. Never paid more than$180 for the exped MegaMat large extra wide on sale and two of those fit perfectly into our platform to make a Queen size 8.1 r value. Thanks to supply chain delays our RTT is coming next week 2 months late and half the summer trips. They gave me free shipping and sold it to me assembled for the price of the kit for the lateness. It only has a 1” pad, but we found a setup to put on top along with a double sleeping bag on super sale that should fit and be kept inside despite the tent being 3” when closed. We have 130lb. Dog that won’t be sleeping in it. Ha! The benefit to it is that I’m mounting a pulley in the garage and at approx. 100 lbs we’ll be able to use it on our Hyundai as well as the 6x6 which still fits in the garage with it on top. I love to find solutions to make things better or more comfortable with overland builds. Great job!
Yeah we want to get our dog to sleep in the tent but he gets panicked in the face when he gets up there and starts panting a lot. We still have him sleep in the soft kennel in the car for now.
Believe it or not REI! My kids shredded one last year in Moab the slept one the table on the air mattress which has sharp edges when we got there too late to set up camp. Otherwise they seem to be durable. I bought the replacement after we got back and they went on sale for 4 of July sale within 30 days of purchase so they refunded me the difference. When we first purchased them on sale probably 4 years ago they were cheaper. We got the Badass Molle PMT high capacity so it’s 48”x88”.
@@dougholberger9258 I still have the stick ones. Taking up space but I haven’t figured out what to do yet. I haven’t put tiles in the new one only because of not having time. Would love to eventually though.
Great video. I have a similar double(from another company but with the same valves) for ground camping, but instead of an electronic inflater, mine came with an inflate sack which is a bit of a pain. Would love to see more about the inflation device you have and how it attaches to those valves.
The little inflator is from flex tail gear. I got the higher end one but there’s no need. You can get what ever one they have. It had a rubber attachment that opens pretty wide and I just place it over the hole. Fits fine and inflates in like seconds.
Great thanks Jason. I have a Tepui Kukenham 3 on a Tacoma and the stock mattress also leaves a lot to be desired, so this is a nice affordable alternative.
I just ordered a Kingcamp double for my beach tent setup. My wife and I surf, and like to take breaks. I found THE best dome tent (double to price of any other dome, but worth every penny) the Coleman Sundome 4 person. After a great deal of study, looking at dozens of video review of self inflating mats, I've concluded that the Kingcamp 4" thick is the way to go for my beach setup. I'll comment further after I get it, and try it out.
Oh what’s up! I was just thinking about your channel, had notification in for the 5lb tank. Just got one myself recently but went with a different set up sort of.
@@OtzleeExplains yeah I watched your videos on plastidipping the ikamper logo and I should have done that instead of trying to metallic paint mine and messing them up.
From what I’ve seen, all the brands say that. I think it’s just to save themselves in case it does go flat somehow. I could be wrong though, so it’s something to note for sure.
@@OXFOOT A friend of mine had a camp rest. He left it rolled, and when he wanted to use it, it wouldn't inflate. It was less than 2 years old. Ive had mine for 15 years at least, works perfect, I always store it inflated under the beds.
Links to everything are in the description! If you’re interested let me know what tent you have an I’ll try to help you find the right size for you.

sorry i skipped through it a little bit but who is the little electric inflator by? did it come with it?
It didn’t come with it but it’s this one:

They do have cheaper ones that would work fine though. That same brand is what I would recommend if you go with the cheaper ones though.
I’m sold, literally the exact thing I was looking for
Don't try to roofnest mattress! You might as well be on the ground!
I cant sleep on my back i my Skycamp. Im too tall - 192 cm. The problem is that the angle on the tent entrance makes my feet touch the tent. Top bad
Great video! Nice bed. I just bought double one. What's that hand blower you used? That's cool. Link?
Thanks! I appreciate it.

@oxfoot, Jason looks like 👍 your going to have a good night sleep 😴 💤 great review brah and see you lathas brahda 🤙 👍 👊
It really is super comfy. The ikamper, mattress and blanket combo is my favorite so far.
Ikamper makes an inflatable mattress that is made specifically for the Skykamp mini 2.0.
Yeah I believe it came out right about the same time I made this video. Didn’t know about it at the time.
What did you do with your Ikamper mattress? Or how did you store it? Is it ok if we roll it?
Sorry you mean the one that came with the ikamper right? I rolled it up and kept it stored. Recently sold the ikamper for an ikamper X Cover which has different mattress dimensions. When I unraveled the ikamper mattress to sell, that had been rolled it went right back to normal.

Yeah I learned that after the fact. I had no clue ikamper was making any at the time. Still happy with my choice with these though.
@@OXFOOT I don't know why for the money it comes with such a lame mattress pad but I guess they all do

Thanks for that answer. I’ll stay away from this product.
I have the same mattress to camp in the back of our grand Cherokee and it works amazing. I sleep better in there than I do at home! Great video man
Yeah they are really great. I wish I would have emphasized more that this isn’t just for rooftop tents.

Damn the supply chain is rough right now. What tent did you go with? Also where’d you find the Exped for that cheap? It was this a while back?

How are those carpet tiles holding up? Any issues with moisture getting trapped or mold?
They were holding up fine. The hood a little moisture and they should be replaced every like maybe 2 years or less.
I sold that tent about 7 months ago though.
@OXFOOT did you put carpet down in the xcover? Also, what did you do with the stock ikamper foam mattress? Trash it? Keep it?

Great stuff Jason. Definitely worth the investment!
Appreciate it! Yeah I think so too. It’s a little more up front but making tent camping more comfortable just means I’ll get out more.

My Pillow topper is the best
The pillow topper you have or the company “my pillow” mattress topper?
Looks pretty big on the inside
Takes a lot of mattress to fill that tent lol
Which pump did you use to pump the mattress
This pump is the one I have. Read that it was the best on a ton of blogs. amzn.to/3wDm7Cb

Check the instructions on that mattress. They may need to be stored inflated. Keeping them deflated may make the foam permanently flat.
