Todd Howard has a maturity, confidence, and genius I just don't see in any other videogame developers. Other developers just feel like nerds with nothing special, but Todd Howard feels like an actual individual with serious ideas, and draws an audience outside 'gamers' or 'nerds'. Just how I see it, dunno how to really explain myself.

That means he is an artist and not some broken guy who chose programming cause he didnt know what he wants to do but likes videogames. Education back then was education and not indocrtination and thats why you dont get many todd howards nowdays.
Agaga Gagag That encapsulates education correctly and comprehensively, that it is indoctrination but used to be education. And we continue to talk about it like it's still education.
For the loading screens, Todd said, "we want the player to also be entertained during said loading screens". I think they should do a vault boy comic strip, like we read and look at the illustrations, they can make 'em funny. Instead of just player tips.
Dean Ocean you know that'd be why the comic strip would be cool let's say there's 80 pages or so and it starts at 1 at every loading screen it advances and when u hit 80 it starts over.
Joshua Lee Lucky PC gamers who can't read the loading screen. As PS3 gamer I easily and often had to read them. Yes, they were funny, but I found them too repititive. Just 'cause I play all DLCs, too. And high level my characters. And PS3 rly run into problems with Bethesda games. I have to save and restart often. Anyway, love what they do, and hope Fallout 4 will do better on PS4.

@The Squire He hasn't done anything egregious in my view except be a team player. HeyItzScotch It was Skyrim. They began concept art for Fallout 4 during Fallout 3's development, because after the concept art is done and the developers are recreating it, concept art isn't needed. The artists move onto other projects (i.e. Fallout 4 and they've no doubt finished TES:VI's concept art and working on Fallout 5's or a new IP as we speak). Todd even says during the E3 Conference, that AFTER Skyrim, they really started hammering on Fallout 4. Even making a sly mockery of impatient gamers by following 'Yes, we do things.'
Blackjax137 Either concept artists move on to next projects, or they are given a role to start leveling things further, because part of conceptual artists in gaming, they usually help on creating 3D stuff too, like Todd said here, that if your portfolio has mayor and stunning paintings (probably concept art, sketches), but only smaller portion, or same amount, but not so good as paintings - the 3D models and renders. I do not know how it works actually, I'm only speculating from things I have noticed elsewhere, and relying on my logic that keeps evolving and upgrading, so probably they either move to the next project while others keep designing further stages of your concepts, or you have the right skills to stay and keep developing the same project, only doing something alternative or secondary jobs from your main job. I lol'd at the part where Godd Howard was talking about giving players the mini nuke rocket launcher. And then goes on to say that most people finish the game without ever using it. So true.
I think ultimately what makes Todd stand out is in an industry where they trot out these nameless devs to announce with dead eyes and soulless monotone yearly franchise sequel #45392 or Live service looter shooter #8273 Todd comes off as just a guy who likes making games. He brings the same energy as modders on big projects. He has a "Doing for the love of the game not the paycheck." attitude where you get the feeling if he wasn't one of the leaders of a multibillion-dollar developer he would still be sitting in an office or a small room with friends just making games. Like the starfield presentation where everyone else had this deadpan reading from a teleprompter attitude, he sounded genuinely giddy just to be sharing the game with everyone.
I love you Todd. U are my hero! U have created worlds where I get lost in for hours on end wondering through tamreil looking for quests. I hope u create even more of these games
***** What part of, "You could have just not commented. It's not like you had to." did you not understand? You didn't have to say "Okay..." or an alternative to it. You didn't have to say anything. You really need to grow up and get over being uncomfortable with sexuality.

But my parents, like many others I'm sure, wouldn't help me financially or in any other way if I chose that as my career. It's awesome to c these kids follow their dreams and get that chance. Especially now that games r starting 2 b accepted as a respectable form of media and art and creativity. Im happy for them.
There is a lot of talent in Obsidian, but they are often constrained by the publishers who employ them. It's hard to get that kind of level of dedication and skill these days outside of indie works, as the mainstream industry has been transformed and streamlined under a formula which nets the most possible profit for the least possible effort, to appeal to the lowest common denominator for the largest market share. It makes perfect business sense sure, but it's a shame that it has happened.
27:57 This was one of the things that really helped me realise game design was not for me. I really don't play that many games. I just like Skyrim a lot.
Really disappointed by his lack of commitment to strong writing. Kinda explains why the writing in all of Bethesda's games were relatively weak in comparisons with other RPGs like Witcher or Fallout New Vegas for that matter (Obsidian Studios, for those confused). Don't get me wrong guys, this guy is a great leader just wished he gave the dialogue and writing in his games more depth and body.
Redfrog101 Yea you're right I didn't. I'm merely judging his recent games (Oblivion, F3 and Skyrim, skyrim wasn't as bad). And just in an almost apples to apples comparison; the story and dialogue in Fallout New Vegas was miles better than Fallout 3's.
Geelar I'll give it to you Fallout New Vegas utterly destroyed Fallout 3's storytelling however Atmospherically speaking Fallout 3 is the clear choice and was Fallout New Vegas's critical weakness. So two great games both with their pros and cons. and idk I thought Oblivion's story was epic next to Skyrim's story, but that's very subjective
Redfrog101 Hmmm yea I guess F3 had more direction and cohesiveness to its atmostphere. And yea dun get me wrong F3 is a pretty good game in my books, just feel its the weakest in the Fallout series. But the simulation world and Liberty Prime moments stick with me, i.e. great moments.
How high can a werewolf jump? Well, the average wolf is 4 feet and can jump 8 feet. So figure a 1:2 ratio. If your werewolf is 6 feet tall, allow it to jump 12 feet. This can have a max cap for collision reasons, and can depend on where you want it.

You have never played Morrowind
However Todd Howard was a lead designer at that time not a director

Yea you're right I didn't. I'm merely judging his recent games (Oblivion, F3 and Skyrim, skyrim wasn't as bad). And just in an almost apples to apples comparison; the story and dialogue in Fallout New Vegas was miles better than Fallout 3's.
Geelar
I'll give it to you Fallout New Vegas utterly destroyed Fallout 3's storytelling however Atmospherically speaking Fallout 3 is the clear choice and was Fallout New Vegas's critical weakness.
So two great games both with their pros and cons.
and idk I thought Oblivion's story was epic next to Skyrim's story, but that's very subjective

Hmmm yea I guess F3 had more direction and cohesiveness to its atmostphere. And yea dun get me wrong F3 is a pretty good game in my books, just feel its the weakest in the Fallout series. But the simulation world and Liberty Prime moments stick with me, i.e. great moments.
Totally agree you make good points.
P.S.
You need to give Morrowind a playthrough :P
Todd whispers those little lies and I can’t stop myself from falling for his charisma
How high can a werewolf jump? Well, the average wolf is 4 feet and can jump 8 feet. So figure a 1:2 ratio. If your werewolf is 6 feet tall, allow it to jump 12 feet. This can have a max cap for collision reasons, and can depend on where you want it.
Not to mention the werewolves in TES lore are far stronger than regular wolves. It's enhanced abilities probably include a higher jump.
That MMO was Elder Scrolls Online
my hero
todd howard cracked games, thats awsome
Praise thee, Godd Howard.
Lord Gaben or Godd Howard?
+Arkairr Poirier Hideo Kojima.

+DarkForcez2010 Nope.
+Arkairr Poirier Gaben wins without effort. At least he doesn't make false promises.
no, Todd is a good salesman, and that's it. Sugarcoating is his trade, and people will fall for it time and time again.
Now THATS a good university
That's obviously because his culture has changed in that dimension.
I want to have his babies.
+Roadman1000 What would you do with his babies?
Meester Hancho Play Fallout with them
