You are such a talent on your lathe, you seem to be able to make almost anything! I love your attention to detail and the authenticity you leave on most of your pieces. Another beautiful restoration. Love your channel, it is one of my very favourites so I eke out watching videos as I don’t want to run out! If you ever find a small book press to restore, I would love it…. 🤗🇦🇺
I imagine that was a pretty satisfying project. That vice was pretty crusty. Great job, sir. Tool restorations are always enjoyable to watch. See you on the next project.
Since this is your last published video I would like to take this chance to first say thabk you for your amazing work I really enjoyed your videos and how you engage the people in little experiments and how you explain the science behind everything. Beside that I believe you miss few things that you would live to have for a full workshop (First congratulations for the lathe (my fav personal part of any video so please dont skip it) / the sand blaster (2nd most fav part for me) / the washer i believe you use soap and water but it is viable to use isopropanol based washer that would be both washer and degreaser) For list of things that you need in the future or I hope I would see would be : 1- A mill 2- Arbor press 3- Metal sheet cutter 4- Gasket maker kit 5- A paint gun for powder paint and liquid ones. 6- Vaccum pot + epoxy resin 7- Laser engraver / cutter 8- Glass / vaccum plastic maker Those are mere suggestions let me know what you think about the list I wrote it down in priority xD Sorry for the wall of text oh I nearly forgot came back to edit the comment to say I loved the dog photo with captions was really funny in early videos wish to see those back or equivalent ones memes are great hehe
Thank you for your comment and your support! I use soap and water in the parts washer, because in my opinion and also from a scientific perspective this is the most effective solution. Water and soap also degrease. The problem with isopropanol would be, that it’s more expensive, it smells, and it evaporates much faster. Some of the tools you mentioned you will see in the future, maybe some even in near future :)
Wow that was pretty cool 👍 enjoyed watching all the lathe work. You did a fantastic job fabricating all the new parts. Brilliant job as always my friend 👏👏👏
Oh wow! I'm so glad you went with the copper paint, it looks really good! I have to say your work is excellent. I love seeing hand tools in action, and you made really appropriate use of them for this restoration. Your work always makes me glad I subscribed
Who makes this vise? Nice restoration, but I don't think I've even seen a 'copper colored' vise before...makes it look "weak" to me. Nice video editing!.
@@DrHutOfHandcraft just a thought. Some often do things wrong or leave something without fixing them properly or don't explain properly. Only a few restorers pay attention to details. I find u r one them. So it's satisfying to see such work.
Excellent job restoring it and I love the look of everything but the bronze. Not a fan of that color myself but it's not mine lol Enjoyed your video and so I gave it a Thumbs Up
Thank you! I asked the community what color they would like to see on a vise, because I couldn’t decide 😄 What color would you prefer on a vise? Just so I know for the future :)
Good job on the restoration! I don't really like the copper paint though. I think the blued handle would look better with blue paint or a dark colored paint.
i wouldnt call this a restoration...but a very nice refurbishment. the color was a fail though, your people that voted let you down hehe. I'm subscribed, Cheers!
El color COBRE no me gustó en absoluto. Hubiera preferido uno mas "clásico" de su época correspondiente, me parece que es de los 60s. Todo lo demás es una BELLEZA de trabajo¡¡
Don't think I would have spray painted it. A Vise takes a beating even in the best of conditions. If powder spraying it is not feasible, I would have left it bare metal with shellac or cold blue the whole thing. Just my two cents worth.
This channel has quickly become my top 10 restoration channels to watch!
Thank you so much! 🙏🏼
Mine, too
Very nice work, turned out beautiful.. ready for another 50 years...

What were they thinking about with that colour recommendation 😮. Great job.
Thank you! Well colors are matter of taste I guess, I actually like it 😄
Hundred over hundred!! I always think that metal paint is the better for vise and iron tools. Congratulations!!

Yes it was fun, even though it was very tricky for me to make the new parts 😄 thank you!!

I love a good vise restoration video! Sweet 👍🏻 👍🏻

Isn’t this the same type of vise I restored once? The green one? 😄
Yes, I suppose so, it’s a pretty classic one

I don’t know who the manufacturer is, it’s just a standard vise I guess.
I guess the color is a matter of tase 😄

6:18 Man, you're using too much filler, giving yourself an excessive hard work when sanding it out! 😉

I would have kept the original color
