Beautiful work, clean and professional. I wanted it to be dark blue, but you are the master. No music, no talking, just watch and relax... Thank you for exellent video!!
Superb job, many would have seen the broken part and thrown it away. Brilliant job on the welding and I love the red paint job and the wooden block really finishes it off nicely. There’s something quite nostalgic about small vices like that one.
Nicely executed restoration. The colour is fine, even if some don't care for it. There's a lot to be said for a dedicated paint area with filters, if space allows. The welding is spot on -- nice job. That wood base is the star, in my opinion. I don't know the species, but it's beautiful. I'd change the Evaporust. It looks spent.
The wood looks like it might be one of the mahogany family, or a stand in. Sapele is a good candidate. Re. the Evaporust, isn't it good until it isn't? I mean if it's still removing rust....
Thanks, I’m glad you like it. The evapo rust is still relatively new. Only been used about 8 times. Plus I’m not going to spend another £60 to fill that small tub. It stilll has a lot of life. I’m pleased you like the base.
Beautiful work on a lovely piece. I have one of these in my clock repair shop. Watching you cut the base makes want to offer to turn the next one for you on the lathe!! But beautifully sharp paring chisels and boundless patience produced a wonderful working restoration. Well done.
Great video. I gave a similar one away to a friends son, just starting his tool collection. But found a square base like you started with was best as he can stand it on end. Bet your hand were sore after hours reshaping!.
Nicely done. I know that base took forever, but was well worth it imho. I know you were upset about the dust, but don't sweat it. I love how it came out!
Thank you very much. Yes the base did take a long time. But carving is rather therapeutic, and seeing the result with the rough chisel marks makes it all worth it.
Hugely impressed by the outcome of this one. The weld wasn't the prettiest :-) but after cleanup and filling you can't see it under the paint and isn't that what counts? And love the colour you chose, similar to the factory colour for old Parkinson vices which I've always been fond of. Only thing I would have done that I think you didn't do is to repair the heads of the screws that had to be re-used. Not sure if you know the technique, I got it originally from gun repair vids if I'm remembering correctly. You peen the galled steel back, clean up the slot (with a hacksaw blade if necessary, if a file won't fit) and lastly file the outside to remove any burr. After a bit of light sanding or wire-wheel work a galled screw can look brand new again. Even some that look like they're right-offs can be saved this way.
Another great restoration. A question if I may. Do you usually have one or two projects on the go at the same time to compensate for paint drying or rust soaking?
I wish you good luck so that the welding can withstand the load. Angle grinder is a rude thing. It may be slightly smaller than the angle grinder and a larger file. I always screw the vise to the table, but this is a matter of taste. Unexpected color. But this is a good combination with used wood. In general, a job well done.
Nice job. I'm impressed with how well that went back together considering the damage. If I had to point out one thing I would suggest to watch out for, it's your angle grinder usage in the beginning. Mind you, this is nit-picky, and it's nothing structural so whatever, but when you cut the head off that bolt you also cut the casting. It seems obvious and kind of stupid to actually say this, but I've found it helps me significantly when using my angle grinder. I always remind myself that it will cut everything, not just what I want it to cut. All this is meant to advise and assist, not to criticize. Again, thanks for the restoration, these are always fun to watch. :) Oh, PS: I keep meaning to say this, but nice job on using the Evaporust correctly. I see so many complaints about the stuff, but they're all trying to put heavily rusted items in it and expecting results in like 20 minutes. Even the website says heavier rust could take 8 hours or more. Anyway, I'm impressed with you because you bothered to RTFM, and so few people seem to do that. Uh... PPS: I rather like the wood and the red paint. Nice job on that, I see way too many blue and green tools. Those colors are fine, but variety is key in life. Also hand chiseling that wood? Ain't nobody got time for that! This is why we have power tools my friend. :P
This turned out beautiful. Could you tell me what the name/brand is on the paint you used? It is gorgeous. I thought of a funny quote when you where welding/talking about your welding. "A grinder and some paint makes me the welder that I aint." lol I do need to make a note. Having your channel name on the screen is quite distracting. I say this as a lot of restorers (including you) put words up on the screen and your channel name drew my attn several times.

If you lived during the depression you be lucky to have any crappy vise! People need them they steal them anywhere! Or they make there own vice from scraps of metal! Bye shipmate!!!
Beautiful work, clean and professional.
I wanted it to be dark blue, but you are the master.
No music, no talking, just watch and relax...
Thank you for exellent video!!
Thank you very much. Too many tools are blue. I wanted something more earthy to match the wood.
Well done! It's renewed but not so much that you do not want to touch it! The base is brilliant!
Thank you
You're a man of courage! I would not take such an herculean task of turning that humongous piece of wood by hand! The vice turned out great!!
Thanks, I like working with wood. It’s therapeutic.
THANK YOU...for sharing. Watched and very much enjoyed. Very nice.
Thank you, glad. You enjoyed
Very nice restore
Thank you
Fantastic job love the colour thanks for sharing your time and skill you are the best thanks. 🍺🍺👍👍👍👍👍👊
Thanks a lot. Much appreciated
That came out looking really good, I especially like the work on the base that you made for the vice to set in.
Very very good restoration vise 👍👍👍🔥💣👌🏽
Thank you. Glad you liked it
Superb job, many would have seen the broken part and thrown it away. Brilliant job on the welding and I love the red paint job and the wooden block really finishes it off nicely. There’s something quite nostalgic about small vices like that one.
Thank you very much. When I see broken things like that I say yes please. I needed an excuse to make something with wood.
Very nicely done. Thumbs Up!
Thank you
I love seeing your parts cleaner, it's so compact and adorable but still gets the job done.

Nice job. Handy vice size. Portable too!
Your welding and filler job turned out extremely well. Exceptional job!
Thank you. I surprised myself
very good job please more
Thank you, I’ll try my best

Magnificent! Great job in each and every step of the rescue process! Very well done! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you,
Excellent restoration,well done.
Certainly one of the hardest jobs for having to do that welding, what a great result and a lovely little vice to use
Thank you very much. It was nerve racking. But I’m glad I’m learning more skills.
A very good job. Thank you.
Thank you

Amador? Amador sou eu. Seu trabalho é primoroso.🇧🇷
Nice restoration, I have got to find a project I can do from my garage, thanks for sharing the video 😎👍
Thank you. Glad you liked it. Good luck with whatever project you find.
That wood looks like red cedar and it set it off beautifly, sweet resto and sweet timber work.
Nicely done. I know that base took forever, but was well worth it imho. I know you were upset about the dust, but don't sweat it. I love how it came out!

@@mytinyworkshop1213 Yes it does.
A lot of time and work went into this project. Wonderful outcome!!!!
So true. Thank you
Very nice job , I've never seen a watchmakers vise that big before mine are all less than half that size while I have seen times when I could
Отличная работа!
Привет из Беларуси!
Thanks for watching
Great job on welding the vice and then sculpting it back into shape. Love the stand you made for it too! 👍🏼
Thank you
GREAT JOB. BEAUTIFUL PIECE. LOVE IT.
That is one fine restoration! Somebody abused the hell out of that vise. Don't know if I would want to buy a watch from him. Excellent job, sir!
Bashed with hammer I guess, I've seen big vices bust too, often by using a pole to extend handle
Thank you very much.
I have one of those big vices that is broken. Record 24 or 25. This was practice. Perhaps I’ll restore that one in the summer.
Very nice. great restoration..
lovely vise, very nice job.
Great job it’s fantastic what you do
Really beautiful
Thank you
Another job well done👍
Thank you
Oh, very nice job! Grat and thank!
And Take care of yourself! 11:20
Neat little piece & nice job on the restoration.
TIP: Never chisel "up-grain", unless the chipped and chowder'd look is what you are going for.
Thank you, I wanted a rough finish.
Okay - Cool !
Great job with this restoration!
Thank you
Отличные тиски получились. Хорошая реставрация, цвет подобран хорошо. Удачи.
Great work mate. Congrats on the welding.
Thank you
Looks great!
Thank you
Outstanding restoration!
Thank you
Hi MTW... another lovely restoration, very well done Sir! Greetings from Southport.
Thank you very much. I’m glad you liked it
Well done, sir.
It’s so cute, lol. Great restoration! I love that deep red color.
Isn’t it just. Thank you very much.

AS GOOD AS IT GETS!!! SUPERB!!!

Very good job mate and the color also is a vintage .
Thank you
Man that sucked with that link!! Yeah I've been following Nick for a few years now and enjoy his channel!
Enjoyed your video and gave it a Thumbs Up
Another great restoration. A question if I may. Do you usually have one or two projects on the go at the same time to compensate for paint drying or rust soaking?
Only 1 at a time. I don’t have enough space or time for 2 project at the same time.
A wonderful vid many many thanks
I wish you good luck so that the welding can withstand the load.

Another video with welding! Nice job, 99 more to go. :)
Thank you. This was my best welding yet.
That came out Sooo SWEET! Great job! Amazing workmanship! T-Wrecks
Thanks very much
Thank you for the warning!
Your welcome. It’s only fair. It done my head in whilst editing.
Why didn't you fill the weld voids with another weld, build up and then grind back to original profile rather than using plastic body filler?
Nice job! But that red paint? Green would have nice to go with that beautiful wood.
Green was actually my second option
beautiful!
Good welding job that stuff is hard to weld.👍
Thank you very much. I’m still learning.
11.03 buy a band saw !!!!! then. Great vid thanks
Nice job.where r you from?
Awesome
Where do you get your small tins of Blackfriars enamel paint from, I don't seem to be able to find them anywere.
Show more of it working at the end, its like building up to so something, then running off the stage before the applause 😂 otherwise A+
Bravo odlično
magnificient!!
I love that colour, what's it called? Nice job. Oh ignore that, re-read it's Burgundy.
better than before
good job! but i think the welding is not strong enough!
بارك الله فيك عمل جيد جدا
I enjoyed your video!! Was curious if you use a phone for your videos, if so what app or method do you use to edit with? Nice work again
I do use my phone. I transfer all my files to an iPad and edit on LumaFusion.
This turned out beautiful.
Could you tell me what the name/brand is on the paint you used? It is gorgeous.
I thought of a funny quote when you where welding/talking about your welding.

Une restauration efficace pour un objet qui semblait pourtant en miteux état...
Thank you very much.
Do you know who made the vice?
It reminds me of a Gressel.
It is G.boley vice model C50 from Germany and was manufactured around 1940. I have a same one and it is high quality vise. Small round anvil is removable.
😊👍
feels like a lot of corners were cut on this one. was hoping for a higher standard.
1 of 3 screw... Why?
It seems a bit sturdy for a jeweller.
Wast that cast iron or steel
You do great work but you desperately need a lathe! Time to raise a go fund me thing!😄
👍👍
That's just plain laziness. You could have made new screws!!! Lol! Do you think the vice will break at the welding?
Dude, you really need a lathe!
G.Boley design.
If it could only talk...
It must have some terrible stories
ВСЕГДА ЗНАЛ ЧТО ЧУГУНИЙ НАДО ШПАКЛЕВАТИ
Это чугун?
Very nice work, but unload all those Commercials.. very distracting...
Seems that ads are hit and miss, I watched from start to finish and not one advert.🤔
Thank you
If you lived during the depression you be lucky to have any crappy vise! People need them they steal them anywhere! Or they make there own vice from scraps of metal! Bye shipmate!!!
