You’ve just stumbled across THE BEST VOICE in rock history. Very deep catalogue!!! Audioslave - Cochise, Soundgarden - Outshined, Jesus Christ Pose. Great intro to his other work. Chris was the best.
If you're not familiar with his band, Soundgarden, it was a huge band in the 90s, up there with Pearl Jam and Nirvana as some of the largest names in grunge rock and alternative. Their songs "Black Hole Song", "Spoonman", and "Burden in my Hand" are all fantastic. They also did a song called "Hunger Strike" that was a collaboration with Pearl Jam under the name "Temple of the Dog" that was really good as well. He later formed Audioslave with members of Rage Against the Machine, and they had some great songs too like "Cochise" and "Like a Stone". Chris was an amazing singer. There are some covers where the cover is so good they make it their own - this is one of those covers for sure. The second his lyrics start at 1:07, this song becomes Chris' song now. There is just so much power in his voice without him even exerting himself in the slightest. Chris tragically passed in 2017 from suicide after a relapse after many years sober. He had a lot of demons, pain, and suffered from anxiety and depression for many years. He was only 52.
I can barely watch this without crying. Chris was one of few surviving pioneers of the 90’s rock. Lead singer of Soundgarden, Audio Slave and Temple of the Dog. He committed suicide and broke the worlds heart. One of the most beautiful voices in the business. Check out Say Hello To Heaven if you want to REALLY hear his remarkable, breathtaking pipes.
Uh oh now you did it. He was great in Soundgarden and Audioslave, but in later years I really really love his solo acoustic stuff like this. He does incredible originals, some songs from the bands that he had been in, and then some fantastic covers. There's a video floating around RUclips of him performing in front of a huge arena with just him and his guitar and he is doing a cover of John Lennon's Imagine. It's the best cover of that I have ever heard. He also covers Michael Jackson, Billie Jean. This Prince cover (made famous by the young Irish singer Sinead O'Connor), isn't in front of a large audience but like the band in a studio audience I think. But some of the others, it's a huge crowd and just the audience response is priceless. In addition to the James Bond theme that someone else mentioned which is fantastic by the way, he also did one not long before he died that I just love so much. It's so powerful. It was his contribution to a documentary that was being made about the plight of refugees in general, and in this case it focused a lot on this one group of Syrians, including children and the elderly, that were really getting the bad end of the deal. This song is great. His singing is so strong and emotional, and then the music video with it as it cuts back and forth from him singing in the studio contains scenes from the actual movie and they are put together with the music in such a visceral powerful way. Some of it is extremely disturbing and some of it is just so heartwarming and makes your allergies act up. It's called, The Promise. You absolutely have to check it out. It's very easy to find on RUclips.
The most beautiful version sung by one of the most beautiful voices. A massive, tragic loss the day he passed. As others have said, check out his bands, his other music, collaborations with Eddie Vedder etc etc etc. Wow, I could go on and on about him. Sorely missed 💔
Chris also did the theme song for the James Bond movie Casino Royale. The song is titled " You know my name". He was a great singer, may he rest in peace.
Chris was known in certain circles as “The Voice”. To us, his fans, he is a healer, friend, therapist and confidant. I always turn to Chris when I need comforting. He was the only one with me in my darkest hours. And I am grateful. Thank you. And thank you Chris. For everything. ♥️
I love watching people react to this man. First time, fifty first time, just seeing the awe and amazement on the faces 😗👌 A unique, unequaled, truly incredible voice that touches the soul every time. He is loved and missed so greatly 😢
The Greatest Voice of my Generation (Gen. X). Most might have been in Kurt's corner as representing my generation but it'll always be Chris to me. One-In-A-Billion voice that could so effortlessly transmit emotion. Gone too soon but left us with a lot of amazing music. RIP
It's a cello by the way. In terms of the string family going from soprano to bass, it goes, violin, viola, cello, double bass. And what he's doing on that cello isn't really hammer on like you would think of with a guitar and actually there's lots of hammering on constantly in string parts but what you're noticing is something called pizzicato, and that's where you're still holding the bow but you use your fingers to pluck the strings instead. It's very common and a great effect I think. Anyway, I really think Chris Cornell is one of the greatest singers of our generation. He's just phenomenal check out some of his other acoustic work like I said. You will be blown away. He has a range that's incredible. He didn't even show it off here at all. Because the song didn't need it. And I agree with you, I love this simple heartfelt treatment of it and it really makes the words in the images and the sentiments come alive. Rest in peace brother, he is truly missed.
Chris Cornell is the greatest voice of my generation hands down. I saw him live with just a guitar by himself. He was incredible. Now you need to hear Hunger Strike by Temple of the Dog.
Chris Cornell was pure talent + charisma, considered the GOAT rock singer by a ton of people. Check him out in any of these - whether solo, with his bands Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog, or Audioslave. It's all 🔥🔥🔥 He was also an incredibly prolific songwriter. *Solo original* "Seasons" ruclips.net/video/1uwT1Q6JeB4/видео.html "As Hope and Promise Fade" ruclips.net/video/COIaE5Kkof0/видео.html Solo cover (with his touring band) "Billie Jean" ruclips.net/video/epXN1eUkFGU/видео.html *Soundgarden* "Fell on Black Days" : ruclips.net/video/ySzrJ4GRF7s/видео.html "Mailman" : ruclips.net/video/amC1kdPFfC8/видео.html "Reach Down" live with Temple of the Dog- range and swagger! Chris Cornell and Chester Bennington (Linkin Park) were best friends. Chris hung himself and Chester followed suit a month later on Chris’s birthday back in 2017. They were both amazing at what they did. They are both sorely missed.
Surfer dude? Wow. Smh. Chris Cornell is one of the best singers that ever lived. His voice is unique. One of the best grunge/rock voices of all time. RIP, Chris. You are missed.

What’s up with the jar of mayonnaise? Chris Cornell is legendary. Please dive into him. Audioslave, Soundgarten, But first check out Temple of the Dog’s “Hunger Strike”. Chris Cornell is playing with Pearl Jam and they’re looking for a lead singer. Cornell found Eddie Vedder and wanted the band to hear him play. But live. This video has a bazillion views. Suffice it to say, Eddie Vedder got the job and became Pearl Jam’s lead singer. And the rest is history. Dive into Pearl Jam. You won’t be disappointed. They were one of the biggest 90s grunge bands.
Chris was fantastic and this cover is a fine example of that 👌🎶🎸. So much feeling in his voice indeed 💔😔. If you haven't heard his version of Patience, I can strongly recommend that Guns N'Roses cover 🤗. Happy Tuesday, Mike!

True story
Ronnie James Dio might disagree 🙂
Best from the Grunge era. I'd have to say Dio overall
@@snakeskinnerkyle I could still say Cornell is one of the greatest vocalists of his Era, or even his genre!!!
Also early on, Temple of the Dog, collaborated with Eddy Vedder. This was before Soundgarden or Pearl Jam. Still have CD.
RIP To the legend Chris Cornell
