Michael Jordan vs Late 80's Legendary & Lethal Half Court Sharpshooters - GOAT vs Snipers

  • One thing that many people don't even realize about Michael Jordan is that well before Phil Jackson was even head coach, Michael Jordan would often implement a strategy of getting his teammates involved for the first 2-3 quarters of the game, and he'd put his foot on the gas pedal in the 4th quarter. Michael was often (not always) very passive in the first half of basketball games. Imagine if Jordan wasn't such a team player, he might have averaged Wilt numbers.
If half court offense with rapid fire teamwork & passing, where the ball doesn't even touch the floor, is your thing, the late 1980's Denver Nuggets are your team! This is some of the best half court basketball in the history of the NBA. Their ability to move the ball so fluidly in the half court offense will jump right off the screen for you! It was incredible to watch! They also were incredible in the fast break! Of course, many of us prefer watching the 1 v 5 superstars, and for that... this guy named Michael "Air" Jordan was on the court as well.
The collective resume is incredible, but the film will be even better, trust.
    Alex English - Hall of Fame, 8x All-Star, 3x All-NBA, Scoring Champ
Fat Lever - All-Defensive, All-NBA, 2x All-Star (Came in to the game leading the NBA in triple doubles)
    Michael Adams - 1x All-Star
    T.R. Dunn - 3x All-Defensive
This will be the best basketball you've watched in a long time, and the refs really let each side get after it, in this physical (clean) contest. Enjoy!

One thing you notice with watching these old games is how much of an exceptional rebounder Jordan was, especially in clutch situations. There's not many players, regardless of position, that I would pick over him to secure me a crucial rebound.

Agreed. I was just saying in another comment... Jordan is always leaping around on D trying to block anyone shooting! He is EVERYWHERE! This is exactly how I play NBA 2K video game, I'm controlling only Jordan, and chasing the ball around, leaping to block anyone that shoots in the post! Watching MJ play, is like watching a video game! SUPERHUMAN ENERGY! (As you said, "@4:07 "Michael Jordan gets blocked in traffic & hustles back on defense to knock the ball loose", whenever someone else gets blocked, they look deflated and discouraged. But MJ looks ferociously angry and out for vengeance! R Reminds me of when Rodman blocked MJ in Detroit, and he came back furiously blocking the SHIT outa Dennis, 3 straight times in row! each block better than the last.

The Denver Nuggets were a very good team. Lafayette "Fat" Lever was a premier shooting guards of late 80's. Not flashy but a very fundamentally sound player. Laffayette Lever was the leading rebound shooting guard in its time in the league and was behind Magic Johnson in triple doubles. On the other hand Alex "poetry in motion" English was a phenomenal small forward (led the league in total points during the 80's,) in the, probably,, greatest decade of small forwards in league's history. Michael Adams, Jay Vincent, Dave Schayes, Rasmussen made a very competitive team.

This was a FANTASTIC!!!!!! video. My adrenaline was off the hook watching these guys go at it. Those Denver Nuggets were such a great basketball team back then. Tough as nails, and MJ and the bulls hung in there and did not fold. I had so much fun watching this game, and the Refs let these guys go at it all game. Imagine if games were played like this today. I would watch these types of games all day. MJ is just the most amazing athlete I have ever seen, his ups are crazy good. The two blocks in the 4th on Alex English (who is a hell of a player), absolutely incredible. Watching this game made my day, Thanks for putting this together, along with the Timestamps, Great job! WOW! What a Game.😃🔥

Love that you always leave the intros in these vids. I honestly had no idea they were already playing MJ's theme by then. I had thought it came around in the 90's.
And here's a bit of trivia: Danny Schayes is the son of HOF'er Dolph Schayes, who led the 1950's in total points scored

Epic finish. Another classic example showing MJ's superior gamesense, always knowing when take a game over on EITHER side of the ball. No other perimeter player in history has ever come close to excelling at these aspects of the game like Jumpman 23. That's a fact

@20:37 Jordan gives a NO-LOOK low five to a fan, while walking away with his back turned. MJ is a SUPER LEGEND! He is NOT HUMAN! Jordan somehow could see beyond his peripheral vision, to perfectly align his hand to slap that distant fan's outstretched hand. If you watch carefully, that is fucking remarkable! (Back then Jordan was still reachable, but sometime after his fame skyrocketed, and he no longer interacted with fans on court. As far as I know)
