      @@ClaytonSchickOutdoors Interesting way to hook minnows when you have to go barbless. I can fish with barbed hooks so I upper lip ("nostril" area) hook the minnow and put a small piece of a rubber band on between the barb and the minnow to keep the bait stealers form ripping it off. It isn't perfect solution but it does help (in my opinion, though I am not a great fisherman).

      Moble games go out and start fishing surely you know the basics and if not just do some research DON'T rely on the notion of having someone show you, go out and make it happen then once you've learnt you can take your friends out, remember we all started out with the same knowledge and learnt as we went and continue to learn. So go out and teach yourself, good luck.

  • @JstnW

    Pretty cool. Selective harvest of injured fish is good. Harvest of lipped fish is also good. Following the daily limit and length limit is the best.

    • @ClaytonSchickOutdoors
      @ClaytonSchickOutdoors  4 года назад +1

      Yup, one thing to remember though its a possession limit not a daily limit, so you are not supposed to take your limit home if you already have it in the freezer at home.

    • @JstnW
      @JstnW 4 года назад

      Clayton Schick Outdoors agree if there is one where you live. My state recently abandoned the possession limit. Hard to enforce here. Hard to say how many actually abided. Either way it's hard to enforce and I think we're long over due for a more robust regulation that can help catch the folks catching over their limit. What that is though I have no idea. Maybe a smartphone app requiring you too log your catch but I'm sure there are privacy issues with that. Educating anglers is probably still one of the best ideas. Your show helps to do that.

    Great video! Great recall on your Dinner Bell too! Brought back memories of the night my cousin & I spent the night in my Clam Voyager on Lake Thompson, SD. -10F, 20 mph sustained wind w/ gusts of 30. We used the truck to block the wind. Only one of us could stand up at a time because the shack wanted to blow away. Waking up to the smell of hot boots that were too close to the heater & a shack covered in thick frost on the inside. Sleeping in those tiny chairs was very difficult. I would do it all again if I was younger. : )

It's been good down to -20 and lost of wind in my vortex lodge with the full door. It would probably good in your big tent in milder Temps.

      But I made sure they still had fun and we didn’t stay too long since the oldest is only 4!

    My brother and I did this a few yrs back on lake of the woods when clam came out with the bigfoot 4000xl thermal. At that time it was the biggest and warmest there was. We did 3 days and 2 nights and caught lots of walleyes. The wind was particularly brutal during one night but our shanty held up. We brought a propane heater and a Honda 2000 genny for a space heater so we was cozy inside with negative wind chills outside. I always get weird looks when I tell folks this but look at them mountaineering peeps sleeping up in blizzard like mountain conditions in non-insulated nylon tents. I encourage folks to try it once.
