    @Clayton Schick Outdoors
    Speaking of putting reflective tape on your ice shelter, that reminds me. I put that tape on the back of my boat and along the trailer too. You should too. Here's why.
    Years ago my late wife and I packed up the boat and headed north late night after work. Got 20 miles down the Interstate highway when BLINK all the lights on my truck and trailer went out except for the headlights. Thank God I still had those. I even lost the dash lights. Pulled into a gas station and replaced the blown fuse. The lights came back on but as soon as I moved the vehicle blink all the lights went out again. Turned around and headed home down the Interstate without any running lights, brake lights, turn signals, etc. That was a nervous ride.
    Spent a few days rewiring the trailer only to find out later the problem was the ground wire on the truck side of the trailer wiring harness. As long as the trailer wasn't plugged in I had normal truck lights and the fuse didn't blow but as soon as I plugged in the trailer, blink, all the lights went out. Keep that in mind for your future trailer lights troubles. It might not be the trailer that's the problem but the truck harness.
    After that I put reflective tape on the boat transom, above the water line but below the level of the travel tarp, and along the sides of the trailer so that if I ever lost all the lights again any other vehicles headlights would reflect off the boat and trailer.

    Carbon Monoxide is slightly lighter than air (0.97 SG) and will rise to the top of your shelter (along with your heat), you should put your CO detector at your head level or higher while sleeping, at worst it will warn you of building accumulation of CO before it reaches dangerous levels lower in your shelter.
    Otherwise, great content as usual Clayton! Stay safe and get outside!

    • @ClaytonSchickOutdoors
      @ClaytonSchickOutdoors  2 года назад +1

    • @downymaster
      @downymaster 2 года назад

      @@ClaytonSchickOutdoors All good Clayton, just happy to share knowledge and hopefully keep people safe. The heavier gas you'll likely encounter winter camping is propane, it is denser than normal air and will pool at the floor of your shelter, always venilate well before allowing sources of ignitiion is you smell a propane leak.

    Carbon monoxide doesn't sink or rise. It's almost the same specific gravity as air, which makes it even more dangerous because it mixes so well. However, propane sinks, that is more dense than air. Anyway, your solid by giving good advice about the detector. Watching your videos are a blast, good work
