Physical abilities aside, their minds are what made them special.
YES YES YES, THE GOAT
Still the greatest point guard of all time
He will always be till the end of time
you can't really say anyone is the greatest of all the generations because things change throughout generations like the guard play isn't the same anymore as it was back then in today's game it's more shooting and scoring guards rather back then it was more find mismatches, pick and roll stuff like that.
@@Villian2thecity I really do understand where you're coming from here but no, magic's the goat pg
Steph is already better.
@@benjaminan1183 magic has more rings, all star games, Szn mvps, finals mvps, first nba all teams, assists leaders, steal leaders. Along with that he’s the better playmaker, defensive player, rebounder, clutch, leadership, iq and just more impact
Magic was a great playmaker and he also had teammates that could really finish the ball. love the coop a loop play in there!
*MAGIC JOHNSON IS IN MY TOP 5 ALL TIME DONT @ ME IDC*
I don't think nobody is gonna disagree with you sir, lol
@@vexotimmer2675 fr lmao. Unless they're just an absolute idiot. He's top 3 in my eyes.
Magics intelligence on the court was so instrumental because he couldn't jump he couldn't run fast no athleticism but the skill level and craftiness was off the charts
@@davidhilliard1838 he wasn’t exactly a freakish athlete but to say he had “no athleticism” is definitely a stretch…
@@mauricedavis1740 you know what I mean he wasn't Jordan or Doc
This is the GOAT of compilations and Magic is the GOAT. Thank you!
Magics midrange was underrated
absolutely nothing but pure skill set magic Johnson was the truth
Ok I’m too young to know anything about magic but people always make it seem like he couldn’t shoot but this video showing me otherwise
His jumpshot is very subpar compared to players now. Only reason he got away with a low shot put release is because he was 6’9 in a era where most point guards in the league were smaller. He also never had the raw athleticism of players today. Magic was great for his era. But the game evolves for a reason
@Jeff Harvey Yeah they want to act like everyone nowadays is a demigod athlete when 2 of the top 10 players this season (Jokic and Luka) are subpar - decent athletes and dominate based off skill.
Luka and jokic are a rare few and its great for the league to have them. But they are a statistical anomaly. Magic is great for his era They are transcendent players that can play in any area. But you can’t convince me that magic can play in any era with subpar athleticism at 6’9 and a subpar jumpshot.
@@christianlopez2995 If you want to imagine him in the modern era imagine a slightly slower and less defensive skilled Ben Simmons that has a modest jumper and hook shots and way better passing.
@@christianlopez2995 did u just insinuate magic Johnson would not be able to dominate in this ERA of soft ass Fuckin players ??? Boy sit your Fuckin ass down that is the dumbest shit ive heard in a long time 😂😂😂😂. Youre a clown bruh real shit lol
Thank you making this video. I never got see Magic play live. But I’m glad to watch these highlights and get a feeling of what showtime was like live back then! Great video 💯
Scary big lineup the Lakers had. Kareem 7’2” or 7’3”, AC Green 6’9”, James Worthy 6’9” Michael Cooper 6’7”, Magic Johnson 6’9” Michael Thompson 6’10”, Kurt Rambis 6’9”, Byron Scott 6’4”......And they all can run up and down the court. Scary!
Look how fast Magic got up court,Wow he was like the Flash with that ball in his hands.Magic would run you out the Gym 🥱
You did not want to see the Showtime Lakers on a fast break. Automatic bucket, man.
Best basketball player I’ve ever seen.
All these Lakers were athletic man. Greatest team ever.
The way the playing in the paint and those FASTBREAKS omg this team was sick.............
You should do a goat szn for dr J. Maybe from his 1981 mvp season.
that’d be 🔥
Probably don't have enough footage
preferably from his ABA days (if possible)
His fast-break game was incredible!
Dr. J’s best season was in the ABA. 1975-1976. Look at his numbers in the 1976 ABA finals. Incredible. He carried a team of nobodies against a team that had 3 hall of fame starters while being guarded by Bobby Jones who has 10 first team all defense appearances in the ABA/NBA combined in only 12 seasons.
What a phenomenal player! Definitely top 5 all time. One of the GOATS 🐐💯😎
I love Stephen cury as a shooter, but there will never be another point guard greater than Ervin magic Johnson. 32🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀🏀
With magic Johnson there will always be showtime miss you Chickie baby
Second best player of all time, and best point guard ever.
Still, to this day, my No. 1 point guard, all-time. Absolute match-up nightmare, and his leadership was second to none.
Ben Simmons, I hope you are watching. Please shoot some Jumpers like this, this year. They can fall... Magic is one of the most confident players I've ever seen. Guy just simply believed in his skills.
he is allways in sync with the team, master
Magic won 3 titles in 4 years and won MVP all 3 times. High school, college, and the pro's as a rookie. Magic would have beat Curry 1 on one or his best team💯💯💯
Lol but Curry is really a shooting guard and magic is really a small forward
They both would dominate offensively
A 6’9” PG swishing hook shots from the post in todays game, would be absurd to see but Magic is money from that distance
greatest passer greatest PG ever.. Magic went to the finals 10 times in 11 seasons and won 5. how ppl put lebron above him is ridiculous
He went to 9 in 12 years and won 5.
Wins: 80, 82,85,87,88
Finals Losses: 83, 84, 89, 91
@@MDAA313 yea you’re right. Still. Magic was a walking trip to the finals
@@Se0420_ indeed
It's not ridiculous LeBron is great
Because it's an opinion. Why are yall always throwing shots at LeBron
The pass at 20:35 was so crazy. The accuracy, velocity that man had the perfect name for his game
As much as I miss getting to watch this man play, I miss hearing Chick Hearn call a game more.
My childhood right here late 1980s Lakers
Magic Johnson is the best Laker ever!
No
Best? Yes. Greatest? Prolly no.
Magic Johnson was one of the most impactful and intelligent players ever. One of the rare players who can say he made his teammates significantly better.
To me magic is the greatest player of all times
Love the old school commentary it will never be the Same ❤😢
Magic could do anything!!
These are the highlights i needed in my life
Magic’s my pg on my all time starting 5
Also many more Magic dunks in this video than I usually see. He dunked more than I thought
It’s so wild how no modern day point guards look anything like this
Luka is somewhat similar but I agree
Yes they do wym?
Luka
Lebron last year
CP3 and Lamelo too. Last of a dying breed.
Thank you! ~a guy born in 1994
Magic killed you shooting and killed you passing...he averaged over 30 pts a game between assists and baby hooks, his whole life... amazing.
He was so special in the 80s for the lakers. He could do anything with the ball. He got 5 titles.
Magic Johnson is the greatest point guard ever.
You mean Steph Curry
@@Szeiker nah you’re just a casual if you think steph curry
@@thespacekat1782
Curry has made a fairly strong case for it. He is the greatest shooter of all time and a better scorer than Magic. Curry and Stockton are the only PGs really on Magic's level in terms of scoring efficiency and Curry does it on more ppg. Magic is clearly the better passer and rebounder though. Magic is better defensively too mainly because of his size (which is completely valid, I don't grade on a curve). I would probably have Curry 2nd on the all time PG list.
Man that ain't no Damn debate.
@@Szeiker You mean Steph Curry who can't play a full season and who couldn't win FMVP despite having 5 trys in a row... Man Stop! But he's top 5 tho,
1. Magic Johnson
2. Isaiah Thomas (Detroit)
3. Oscar Robertson
4. Steph Curry
5. Jason Kidd
