Been a lot around this summer, I've landed 4 and lost one solid 6-7 footer from the rocks on a live bait.

Commercial fishing in New Zealand is disgusting. My local area is littered with hundreds if not thousands of commercial cray pots less then 50m off shore. I go for a swim in the same area to get myself a cray but they are all undersized because as soon as they are keepable the commercial guys take them. If I want too eat crayfish out of my own backyard it’ll cost me at least $75 from new world. Absolutely disgusting

Its blatant corruption. It once was a country of many small fishing communities. Quota management System changed all that. It did at first seem to be a good idea. Now all decisions go in favor of a few 'shareholders' who 'OWN' the majority of 'OUR' fish stocks and can afford to lobby the government and influence policy.
(Our lobbying industry is unregulated here so they can get away with hiding a lot from public scrutiny from what I understand.)
