I get the feeling ooc is a bit of an old school, Jim cornette style wrestling commentator who loves it when the subject is pure wrestling but not so much into the silliness that jay and v1 are into so given the opportunity to be the straight man he really rises to the occasion.
yes, that's what I'm always commenting under those "coming soon, promise" notes: to me the most important thing about these is the fun. and I'd figure as soon as the guys would be +feeling+ rushed I would assume it would result in weaker episodes as well (on top off them having less fun). it's also why I totally get quitting with Mania XI. at least going on chronologically pay-per-view by pay-per-view would very likely feel like a chore, with those less-than-stellar In Your House shows (not to mention many of the other bigger ppvs of 1995 and 1996 not being much better either).
Wrestling Bios is doing so well with the chronological aspect. OSW should only review things they absolutely love with occasionally an all time terrible show for them to go to town with. OOC is a fair weather casual fan and he is open about that and I respect that but Jay seemed so dismissive and bored with the micard of AEW and I think it hit the quality of this show as he rushed to the things he likes. Powerhouse Hobbs and Ricky I felt were disrespected by Jay speedtalking. Sgt Craig and Cobra were given more respect. I am not a big fan of AEW's bloated roster but Jay is the MC (Michael Cole as well as host lol) and it was unfortunately probably his weakest performance in his normally excellent role as host by showing his disdain for certain things not in a funny way but in a fast forward button way.
Wait a minute. There was a dog in the room, and somebody got bitten, but it wasn't the dog who did it? It sounds like Ace Steel is covering for Larry. He's the real ringleader in all of this.
I heard Jon Moxley was quite pissed he had to hang around. He was supposed to get a break and then that blow up backstage happened. Regardless, took it like a champ and stepped up when needed.
Y'all said at one point that Nick Hausman asked about Colt (and how Tony Khan should've just said "no comment" or refused the question), but it's actually EVEN WORSE than it seemed. Punk just brought it up himself! AEW's feed of the scrum cuts in on Punk already going, so it wasn't clear. But if you watch other footage, Punk starts off by asking Hausman if he's friends with Colt, and when Hausman says no, gets frustrated and kinda half-jokes "you blew my spot." Then, without even letting Hasuman ask a question, just starts going off anyway. So "griping about Scott Colton" seems to have been Punk's plan all along.
not true, that's exactly what happened: "who you did improv with? " I did with a... Scott Colton" "hm, okay, so you fancy yourself a journalist , would you say that you are friends with Scott Colton?" "Ah no, I haven't talked to Scott sometime" "so you are not friends with him?" " no,no, Scott and I did not see eye to eye" "oh well, thats make the two of us"
It sounds like Jay didn't know about Denise's video coverage when he said that since he also asked about the distorted voices on AEW's coverage of the scrum. A lot of people got confused about who started this until she came through and uploaded it on her channel from the beginning since AEW had issues streaming it at the start and you can barely hear that part of the stream on Will's coverage on the Fightful account.
The Miz was doing the same thing at the start of his singles push, in kayfabe of course, where he'd call out John Cena. Cena never showed up, so Miz started keeping a tally of the times he beat Cena via forfeit. So he's like a real life Miz character.
@@Trustme77 Which is a bit hilarious. I always get the impression that Punk genuinely doesn't like Miz so for him to turn out exactly like Miz's character in real life is funny to me
I can’t lie despite everything I’m disappointed Punk is gone, the thought of having to sit through the scrum again is hard but thankfully I’ll at least have you three ripping the piss out of him to get me through it
Whopper episode fellas! OOC with the burial of Hardcore Hobbs and Ricky Starkplug with the "Put them on Dark!" line for some reason made me laugh. I watched Denise's version of the CM Punk scrum and only knew about the weird audio on the official one afterwards and now that Jay mentions it, it was like Nailz so I have no idea why I didn't think of that myself. And damn fair play to you and the editing crew for having the splicey with the most recent news regarding the release of Ace Steel and the possible contract buyout. Really excited for the next video, as I have been looking forward to it ever since I first knew it was happening. I take it OOC's choice is The Desolation of Smaug or something else entirely.
@@coolchat18 If they announced the character's name then they are intentionally using a trademarked IP to promote their show.... and if they didn't get permission beforehand they could be sued for damages.
Earlier this year, Jade dressed up like Jade from Mortal Kombat. Excalibur remarked that she looked like a character from Mortal Kombat, but didn't specifically state the character's name.
I went to the Dynamite episode where they unified the World titles (even saw an OSW sign there). It always felt like a stubborn decision to do it weeks in advance and not doing it at the PPV.
I guess the Canadian destroyer is the new move that every company has 1 or more people doing until it's no longer a BIG move, but just another move. I need more than hot-shotting and high-spots to make me interested. Things need to make sense to me. I'm so glad I watched this instead of the actual event. Not that I would have anyway. Thanks for all of the very entertaining hard work OSW!
The rule is, everything named X-Factor usually ends up being overhyped when it first comes out, hated on it's release, but is looked back with fondness and considered underrated over time. The wrestling group, the Iron Maiden album, the tv show, this rule will always apply to anything named X-Factor.
Mindy's Bakery got some funny reviews after this. One review said "After eating your delicious cakes I found myself turning on my colleagues & embarrassing my boss!" 😂😂😂😂😂
I'm barely an hour in and I already think this show had WAY too many matches. They're falling into the same WWE trap of "we have all these people, we HAVE to put as many of them on PPV as possible!"
Yeah. The time crunch leads to odd situations where ultra hot feuds (like Starks and Hobbs) end up getting a wet fart comma of a match instead of a proper storming blow-off.
Each AEW PPV I've watched has felt like an attention span endurance test. By the time the main events come up, my brain is fried and I really just want to finish it later.
This has been a consistent issue with AEW. Even their best PPVs (All Out & Full Gear 2021) had too many matches, it's just their good stuff was good enough to keep you from noticing as much.
Jay throwing back in "I heard they don't take advice" for Garcia/Yuta and "It's been a long day..." at the end was amazing. I'm all about that subtle humor
I've never understood the people who think Hangman is a main event guy. He's not particularly amazing in the ring, he's got a gimmick tailored to the midcard, and honestly, if he was just the guy who held the midcard belt, he'd be fine. He flounders every time he's faced against people above his level. Reminds me a bit of the Miz in that regard.
I’ve been out of the loop with wrestling for a while now. I keep hearing about all the bollocks in AEW though, and have been waiting for you guys to review it. Happy days are here again!
This is an excellent point, and I hadn't put my finger on why I suddenly started to love it for him! Cause yeah, I really didn't care for it during the pandemic.
Actually, if your parent is elderly it’s a good idea to get your name their accounts, it makes transition of funds after their death far simpler. Colt and his brother are very smart
True. But this was about 10 years ago and she would have probably been in her 50s. Plus I'm sure the point people miss is that it took until nearly 20 years into their relationship for Punk to find out Colt had access to a bank account with his mother. All those years of Colt asking for money and he had a hidden account that Punk never knew about...
@@OSW the OOC joke about being the only one to say MCMG are his favorite makes me laugh every time haha and the whole part about the scrum is great. Love all the effort and research y'all do 👍
@@HiGlowie A few places have started doing this again at least in the US, I'm not sure if WWE has jumped on board yet but it makes sense for a company still doing full-priced PPVs. Nobody but Vega from Street Fighter can be a badass while yodeling and that's only because he's complimented by a Jason mask, a dragon tattoo, AND a badass claw gauntlet.
I don't think you guys have been commended enough for paying attention to the small and usually not noticed things like jock watch. That's dedication. 🤣
So I was at the House of the Dragon episode where Punk buried Hangman. I noticed all the commentators confusingly looking at each other and it was so surreal
What's really funny is compare when Punk and Bryan Danielson came in. Punk was all happy and jolly and way talking about how much we wanted to work with all these young guys and how he wanted to help make future stars, where as Danielson said he didn't care about helping younger talent, he was there for the money and the championship. Flash forward one year, Punk beat Darby, he beat Hangman, he beat Mox. The only person you could say he helped elevate was MJF, who was already the top heel in the company anyway. Mean while Bryan has put over Hangman, Mox, and while he's beaten them his storylines with Yuta and Garcia has raised the stock of both men.
Such a great episode. I got back into wrestling in 2014 and in all that time I don't think I've ever once enjoyed when a crowd sings along to an entrance theme. Not Fandango, not Bobby Rooo-, not even Nakamura. Probably the only exception is when Minoru Suzuki comes out and people chant "Kaze ni nare" at the end of his entrance. In Jericho's case the only way I can salvage it is if I alter the lyrics to be about my cats: "Cuteness in, cuteness in my mind". If crowds sang along in an OSW cadence then I'd be into it: "Mimi meow, mimi meow mai mind". That way it's still cat adjacent. I kind of stopped watching when Jon Huber died but have been getting back into AEW lately. It's funny that I just barely missed out on CM Punk being on top in wrestling twice in my life so I never really had a chance to become a fan of his and his latest tantrum certainly hasn't helped in that regard. Ironically back when Punk did the podcast with Colt he was putting over the Bucks big time, like he was asked if wrestling was completely off the table and the answer was him snarkily saying something along the lines of: "I'll go down to Reseda and work The Young Bucks." Fast forward years later and he's openly shitting on that legacy as if he's always felt that way. As good of a talker as he is if he expects to be taken seriously he needs to dial back on the hyperbole and exaggeration. At some point even if there's a grain of truth to him saying he "works with children" doubling down on childish insults is not a substitute for proper constructive criticism and he's just torpedoing his credibility along with his career.
When I first heard about this, I thought it was an amazing work build to start a rivalry between Punk and Colt for Colt's return, then saw it and realized it was a shoot and hoo boy.
CM Punk is a wealthy man but he has left so much money on the table for trying not to make money off his ill feeling towards the Elite. They could build to three PPVs of Punk Vs Page 2, Punk vs Omega and Punk and FTR vs Young Bucks and Omega.
@@pauldavis6232 So do you sell your soul out to put up with crap at work? Or say fuck it and enjoy every day from here on out? Honestly I think it's very telling that the working class hate Punk for having the balls and the money to stand up for himself and burn a rickety shitty bridge
"Colt Cabana shares a bank account with his mother, so that tells you everything you need to know about the guy." Well, seeing as apparently his brother, one of the writers on Family Guy and probably pretty well off, also shares that same account, it tells me that that family have a group fund they all feed in to, and likely all have their own personal accounts for smaller expenses? Like, it really didn't tell us anything about the guy. Except that he has a healthy relationship with his family. What a dweeb?
After seeing Punk return on Collision and watching this video again, I've come to a couple of person conclusions. 1. Tony Kahn is too afraid to be a boss, he wants to be friends with everyone of the wrestlers and you can't do that, its the same as letting the inmates run the asylum. 2. I think Punk had his meltdown at the scrum because he knew he was going to be off tv with an injury so he said "F it, what do I have to lose" and he was trying to be a team player, a cool hand luke type, help get people over, draw big money houses, and help solidify MJF as a main eventer. Hangman Page gave him a bad first impression and it was downhill from there. The Bucks and Omega jumped in the crossfire becuase Hangman is their boy and are gonna back him up and it doesn't help that The Bucks and Omega suck up to Meltzer
"He said a promo that could be taken as a work, but to Punk it was a specific Shoot, things that he'd know what he means, and couldn't let go-" ...Sounds awful familiar ten months in the future.
Can't believe you missed the opportunity for the skinny nacker/umbro nacker refrence in the Danielson entrance. Me and my mate were laughing through the whole entrance after one of uss mentioned he looks a bit "nackerish".

I get the feeling ooc is a bit of an old school, Jim cornette style wrestling commentator who loves it when the subject is pure wrestling but not so much into the silliness that jay and v1 are into so given the opportunity to be the straight man he really rises to the occasion.
In tears laughing at the bit where Jay is talking about Warlord or Bulldog sending people angry DMs hahaha, so good. Great as always lads!!
He's totally wrong though. If social media was a thing back then, tons of the wrestlers would be giving out and @ing fans.
Love Beavis and Butthead's cameo. Such a high quality review at much faster pace than usual, hope you lads didn't drain yourself to get it out.
yes, that's what I'm always commenting under those "coming soon, promise" notes: to me the most important thing about these is the fun. and I'd figure as soon as the guys would be +feeling+ rushed I would assume it would result in weaker episodes as well (on top off them having less fun).
it's also why I totally get quitting with Mania XI. at least going on chronologically pay-per-view by pay-per-view would very likely feel like a chore, with those less-than-stellar In Your House shows (not to mention many of the other bigger ppvs of 1995 and 1996 not being much better either).
“The fingers you use are too roidy.” 😂 This has to win quote of the year when the next Golden Noggers come around.
Been watching since wrestlemania 6 way back when. Love you lads to bits.
Wait a minute. There was a dog in the room, and somebody got bitten, but it wasn't the dog who did it? It sounds like Ace Steel is covering for Larry. He's the real ringleader in all of this.
The dog with the shifty eyes!
So "griping about Scott Colton" seems to have been Punk's plan all along.
not true, that's exactly what happened:
"who you did improv with?
" I did with a... Scott Colton"
"hm, okay, so you fancy yourself a journalist , would you say that you are friends with Scott Colton?"
"Ah no, I haven't talked to Scott sometime"
"so you are not friends with him?"
" no,no, Scott and I did not see eye to eye"
"oh well, thats make the two of us"
It sounds like Jay didn't know about Denise's video coverage when he said that since he also asked about the distorted voices on AEW's coverage of the scrum.
A lot of people got confused about who started this until she came through and uploaded it on her channel from the beginning since AEW had issues streaming it at the start and you can barely hear that part of the stream on Will's coverage on the Fightful account.
These videos are so rewatchable. I always end up missing countless jokes and comments the first time around haha.
Thanks brother! May your 2023 be Tatanka free 🐃
Lay off the weed and maybe you won't have to watch something 10 times 🙅
I cannot get over Punk calling Hangman a coward… not to his face 😂
The Miz was doing the same thing at the start of his singles push, in kayfabe of course, where he'd call out John Cena. Cena never showed up, so Miz started keeping a tally of the times he beat Cena via forfeit.
So he's like a real life Miz character.
@@Trustme77 Which is a bit hilarious. I always get the impression that Punk genuinely doesn't like Miz so for him to turn out exactly like Miz's character in real life is funny to me
This man let that hangman promo linger in his head three months after the world forgot about it.

What on earth could possibly be "hard" about watching the scrum? 😂
As a guy who got back into wrestling because of Punk in 2011, it broke my heart hearing him destroy AEW. Fuck em

180 seconds of Platinum Max Caster?!?! THANK YOU GUYS!!
I take it OOC's choice is The Desolation of Smaug or something else entirely.
it's gonna be "Twins" starring DeVito (not Tony) and Schwarzenegger.
I guarantee at the very least Excalibur knew Jade was She-Hulk, WB probably just wouldn’t let them say it
WB: We don't our comics have a character that makes men angry like She-Hulk?
@@TheMaestroMizerous I think its more because they don't want to promote a rival company's show
@@coolchat18 If they announced the character's name then they are intentionally using a trademarked IP to promote their show.... and if they didn't get permission beforehand they could be sued for damages.
Earlier this year, Jade dressed up like Jade from Mortal Kombat. Excalibur remarked that she looked like a character from Mortal Kombat, but didn't specifically state the character's name.
@@LokiTricksterG I think they could get leeway for that since AEW is owned by Warner Bros and WB also owns Mortal Kombat
I went to the Dynamite episode where they unified the World titles (even saw an OSW sign there). It always felt like a stubborn decision to do it weeks in advance and not doing it at the PPV.
Thanks for the 'Ric Flair's Last Match' summary, gents. Very amusing indeed!
I did NOT know you guys were such Speed Muscle fans. It warms my heart.
I found V1 calling Adam Page “Hanger” funnier then I should.

I will always pop for an X-Factor reference. Top notch, lads.

*Eats one* I'm old. I'm hurt and I work with fucking children!
Funnily enough WWE have been making really concise PPVs these days
This has been a consistent issue with AEW. Even their best PPVs (All Out & Full Gear 2021) had too many matches, it's just their good stuff was good enough to keep you from noticing as much.
Jay throwing back in "I heard they don't take advice" for Garcia/Yuta and "It's been a long day..." at the end was amazing. I'm all about that subtle humor
So happy that you pointed out the poor man's Barracuda that Toni uses as her theme. That was my first thought exactly.
This is starting to become my absolute fav RUclips channel you guys are amazing so funny and awesome I love your videos.
Wild Thing is amazing for Moxley. It's the perfect song for his live entrance. Didn't work during the pandemic, but works greatly with crowds back
This is an excellent point, and I hadn't put my finger on why I suddenly started to love it for him! Cause yeah, I really didn't care for it during the pandemic.
Lol nahhhhhh. It’s not. lol.

Where do you see wrestling shows at movie theaters?!
@@HiGlowie A few places have started doing this again at least in the US, I'm not sure if WWE has jumped on board yet but it makes sense for a company still doing full-priced PPVs. It's like how the original Mania was at closed-circuit events in theaters and VFWs. (And of course I'm pretty sure UFC and Boxing do theatrical screenings of their big tickets.)

I don't think you guys have been commended enough for paying attention to the small and usually not noticed things like jock watch. That's dedication. 🤣
So I was at the House of the Dragon episode where Punk buried Hangman. I noticed all the commentators confusingly looking at each other and it was so surreal
that Jericho Fozzy edit had me rolling 🤣🤣🤣
They actually put on a good gig in there defence 😂
That "Hardcore Hobbs and Ricky Stark Plug" line, damn lol.
The Sonic boss music and Mene Gene will never leave my head
18:27 Jay I'm happy that like me you can't hear "37" without putting "In a row!?" After it lol.
As someone who wears cargos about 1 inch too big, I can sympathize and understand his record-breaking jocks adjustments. Well done sir!
Well said mate! I enjoyed reading that.
"Colt Cabana shares a bank account with his mother, so that tells you everything you need to know about the guy."
Well, seeing as apparently his brother, one of the writers on Family Guy and probably pretty well off, also shares that same account, it tells me that that family have a group fund they all feed in to, and likely all have their own personal accounts for smaller expenses?
Like, it really didn't tell us anything about the guy. Except that he has a healthy relationship with his family. What a dweeb?
Oops, director, not writer. Misremembered.
Meanwhile Punk has a restraining order on his own mother…
@@Bale4Bond Speaking as someone who has a rough relationship with their own father. Don’t blame him.
Keeping that Buck Bumble theme alive. Awesome!!!!
