@@svoids I’ve been running off and on for over 40 years, consistently for 30 years, running in the weighted vest the past 5 years. No knee or back problems. There is no medical evidence for running and knee problems, that stemmed from opinion. Usually opinions from people who don’t run. The latest studies show people who run have better joints than those that don’t, especially as we age. Do your own research, develop your own opinions, not someone’s who aren’t in the arena. Highly recommend the vest! I started with 12 lbs, worked up to 50lbs, settled with 20 lbs. That’s what optimal for me. Find what works best for you. Don’t be afraid to push yourself

Your comment that one will increase muscle mass by running with a vest is not entirely accurate. The muscle mass increase by running with a weighted vest will be negligible. It is more effective for metabolic conditioning.

I enjoy using my 20lb weighted vest to walk for my active recovery days. I also mix my training up to do a fast 1 mile and stop and do 25 pushups and 30 air squats. I will do 4 sets of this. I have also done like a 2 mile weighted run and then drop the vest and run another 2 mile run without weight. Just stay active and remember to rest and stretch.

    Winter Ranger.
As someone well into my 40’s weights and weighted carries like farmers walks, ruck marches and PC runs are good, they help keep the muscles and bones strong and healthy. Stronger muscles and connected tissue as far as my knowledge and I have read in the literature will keep your joints healthier and build ‘armour’ around the joints.
I should have a Gritty Tab (for my PC) and Gritty Soldier T getting delivered down here this week.

My Son's in Military school and showed me your channel.
That's why I bought a weight vest with up to 30 kilograms of weight.
In the weekends we're marching and speedmarching together, I'm 50 years old right now.
It's amazing which I didn't think it would be because of a knee operation in the past.
The running part I do is not like normal running but it's a bit modified with smaller steps......
By doing it the right right way you minimize the impact on the knees.
This week I managed to get an alice Lc-2 US backpack for 25 euro's which I take with me on my truck during the weeks.
Must say it's not the most comfortable thing, but maybe it's because I'm not used to it.
Thank you very much for your motivational channel.

If he's ever run into low back pain issues with running, he'll probably have a response about what's worked for him. I've definitely had that problem in the past, and what really helped was stretching my ileopsoas and sartorius muscles (front facing leg muscles that connect to your hips and might make your plevis tilt forward if they're tight), as well as keeping my abdominal wall and obliques strong. Doing that took a lot of tension away from my lower back because it didn't have to work so hard to compensate for balance.

Remember to focus on your running posture when you start out wearing a weighted vest during your training sessions, and try to maintain a consistent and comfortable pace. I'm currently using the same vest as someone else, and it's important to choose good shoes for your runs the creator of this vid is correct. Also, consider wearing a comfortable shirt to prevent the vest from rubbing against your skin and causing irritation. Start with shorter runs and gradually increase your distance as you get more comfortable. Good luck, and have fun with your training!

Not rocket science. I’ve added this to my marathon training and I’m obsessed. If my marathon max effort is around 3:30:00 adding 5-10 pounds for a 3 hour jog builds tremendous endurance and strength. The term is perceived effort. It’s hard to get max effort while sprinting. It isn’t sustainable. Where as my last run of 25 pounds for 3.26 miles 8:14 pace….. that was death. My max effort 3.21 mile run prior was 6:48 pace. I’ll tag this comment and let you know what my knew 5k time is in a few weeks

Brother totally love your thoughts and thanks for the inspiration. I’m Indian by heritage but kiwi by choice/privilege who started exercising properly in my early 30s, it’s now been 8 years I’ve been regularly exercising and rucking / weighted vest running is an integral part of my workouts at least once a week. I look forward to my 3 hour weighted vest runs each week. Thank you again brother. Would be great to know what vest brand are you using, I’ll see if I can buy it here in Australia.

The tac tec plate carrier is not designed for workouts its a plate carrier for law enforcement work etc they make a weighted vest plate carrier either with sand or training weight plates which is what I use. Also I would imagine running with weight burns more calories i try to do all my runs with my vest. Also what do you do for recovery? Regular massage? Chiropractor?
I do about 10 15 miles a week with my vest

I tried with a weighted backpack. Definitely not working so I'm gonna try the weighted vest instead

Is there really much benefit to having a vest vs a backpack? I find the vests to be very expensive and not sure it's worth it....?

I’ve been running with a vest for about 2 years, and I 100% agree that it builds serious strength in the legs. I went a few months without a vest but continued running, only using it about 15 times a year. I normally try to achieve the same distance with a vest, but I’ll take some of your advice and perhaps reduce the distance by 50% of the regular run. I have never sustained any injuries wearing it, but keep in mind to always try running on trails with it. It’s important to keep a tight fit,if it gets loose, it can start to irritate the back, but overall, I’d say it has increased my back and leg strength significantly and has also improved my endurance. Have the same plate carrier (511, approximately 20 lbs).
