The original is good, but this cover has so much more "kick" to it, which just feels right for a song titled "Atomic." The guitar riff in particular just punches through so much more strongly and impactfully.

Just searched for Blondie - Atomic. Sounds so strange, I thought. Searched for another one, the same. So I typed Trainspotting Atomic aaaand? Surprised that the one and only that I was searching for is not by the Blondie. Found, satisfied.
I actually thought all this time since '96 that it was Blondie in the film until recently. :)
Look for some early live performance of this song by Blondie, is really different and, in my opinion, better.

I honestly think it would. The original has more power to it, more *oomphf* if you get what I'm saying. This one sounds weaker with only the drums, guitar riff, and vocals being the most noticeable. It's more subtle and I think that's what Danny Boyle wanted for that scene.
