By the way,, you can buy the shop currency using the ingame currency from other players that sell it the other way around, you can do this from the Conversion Stone tab of the shop. This way you can have almost everything in the shop if you want, the only exceptions are maybe few events packs but if you really want something of those packs you can buy it from another player in the game 99% of the time.
Anyway I've played the game for 8 years, with more than 9k hours of playtime on only my main character, and I have around 150 characters (half of them being lvl 140+, and around 30 being 186+) hahaha... so i would say that I'm fairly addicted :D I've also been the longest Sufokian Governor ever in the international server (34 consecutive mandates).

Fantasticly Uniq Ost's, Seductive art style it is on a track solely on its own. Though being so heavily laced with crude humor I find it nearly impossible to progress through the storyline (combat is Extreemly difficult [Not only Speaking for the Fine Print for skill descriptions] It really sets an air all its own For a Harvest moon/ Rune factory schematic, It is quite saddening its Never found its way to consol games.
This game IS NOT designed to reach max level. This game is designed to enjoy the levelling process. The absolute abundance of craftable gear makes leveling a memorable experience. Every level range has its unique monsters and sets of gear that you wiill use as your immediate goals. People who play to obtain max level not only miss out on the most fun parts of the game, but they miss out on all the amazing stories and quests. I actually pity the people who power level.
That's the most immersive Wakfu gameplay video I've ever watched, your voice tone really keeps the attention. I'm a veteran player but I sitll watched it all the way, so educative.

i feel like you overlooked the insane farming simulator they added in this game lol, my hours of wakfu was like 90% just farming wheat and barley cus it was so satisfying
@@MarleMMO its not everyone's thing to gather in games but wakfu was so cool and extensive back when I played. The anti bot system also doubles as a reward for being human, you get to do a captcha and if you pass you get like double the yield you harvested before being bot checked was such a good time killer lol

Regarding your questions, I'm unfortunately not knowledgeable enough to answer them yet I'm sure helpful players in-game or on the Reddit would be. My impression is that there is a togglable button that enables gear slotted /not/ to render. Regarding shop animations: that's a great question; I never bought one yet it would make sense that it'd apply there too. Best of luck! :)
Great video. Only one slight correction: the animated series actually had its first two seasons come out in 2008 and 2014 and Netflix had no part in the series until season 3 when they funded it.
I've been playing this game for a lot of time, I have 1000 hours+ on it, but I must say this: Wakfu is pretty fun for those who like turn based rpg with strategy, but the game lacks the community. Everyone who plays wakfu is pretty friendly, but the thing is that most of the community doesnt speak english. But when you find someone who speaks english he will be friendly 99% of the time.
@@MarleMMO Ehhh, not really tbh. I just join sometimes to help other proggress through the game. For like a year or 2 I havnt grinded for exp once ;-;. I would play if I had any company tho. ( edit )
@@MarleMMO 118, which really isnt much. Once you reach level 96 the area quests give you insane exp, 1m-7m. So the grind is easy until level 140-150. Another edit: Grinding alone isnt the easiest thing for me, cause I am a support class with a support build. But I could still get to level 140 if I tried for like 3-4 days.
I came here from my absolute love of final fantasy tactics and MMOs. Wakfu has alot of nuances that make it super fresh but familiar. It's genuinely a very tight fun game with alot to go for and learn that feels worth the time.
Wonderful video! It's actually been a few years since I last played but as a long time player, I can say that at the very least, if you enjoy tactical tile-based combat, then it's worth checking out Wakfu. I don't know what the current climate for Wakfu is like, but the only reason I really stopped playing as much was due to the poor marketting for English-speaking audiences. In France (Ankama's country of origin of course), the games are *immensely* popular. Unfortunately, when they finally made the move to putting Wakfu on Steam, they flubbed their big chance to hook a new audience, as Ankama was still trying to figure things out, constantly changing how their tutorials introduce people to the game. I remember the beginning areas went through more than just a few changes including how the story itself started, but I think that with the animated series hooking bigger popularity, they've settled a bit easier on what they finally want out of it with new players expecting to see things they recognise from the show. It's worth noting that whilst the game advertises itself as being based on the animated show, the reality is that Wakfu in general was a multimedia project as both the game and show came out roughly around the same time, including the betas for the game (actually, if you take note of my profile picture I've had for years here, this is actually an OLD design for one of the mobs: Celestial Tofu). For those who don't know, Ankama's MAIN baby is the MMORPG "Dofus" which has a similar format in gameplay and combat, but running for more than 20 years now, it's players are far more comfortable with it. Wakfu is the sequel to Dofus in both gameplay AND story, although Dofus got it's own animation (Treasures of Kerub, it's great) AFTER Wakfu got theirs. But yes, unfortunately when releasing to Steam some time ago, a lot of things were too little too late, as Steam players came in to what still felt like an incomplete starting area and would assume the rest of the game was like this. The reality was that old players would already know there was plenty more to offer, but the gap in early content was so large, that it wouldn't be obvious, thus player numbers dropped off rather quickly. My main class is the Xelor. A time mage that can teleport and manipulate AP gain. To be honest, another one of the reasons I've dropped off the game a little is related to the fact that Xelors were at one point rebalanced. I spent a LOT of time levelling and optimising my xelor, but at some point, Ankama focused on rehauling combat for a lot of classes, and Xelor was one of them. When the update hit, my Xelor felt like an entirely different character that I actually couldn't figure out how to play it anymore due to how technical by nature it was. I would like to return to the game one day and figure all that out again, but for now, I still hope new players can dig into the game and discover the same charm that hooked me for many years to come.

I don't mean to scare the new players away, but i have probably over 6,000 game hours in Wakfu, i played since the 1st day of the release in 2010, but even as someone who have played Wakfu since 2010, sometimes i have much things to learn from each fight, yes it's that deep to learn But once you know the basics, you will either love it or hate it. i still love to login once in a while to help newbies, but i have completely stop playing end game. there's not much new development for years other than a few xtra features, the map have been the same for as long as i can remember
Very professional review, too bad your loost some footage. The transition to Astrub is a bit weird yes, that's because all aditional characters you make can just skip the turorial to start from that point. I woud just like to add a small correction, the catch-up XP bonus (double xp for your second highest level and tripple for the rest) is actually locked behind the monthly subscription.

I know what to do better next time to avoid such a silly mistake. Re:Astrub, I wish the game programmatically would sync your quest progression to a later state if you completed Incarnam. It's ultimately a minor point although it did feel a bit jarring. Your correction is noted and is very helpful. I hope others read your comment since my impression was that it was free. :)
The ecological system is one of the game's strengths - and also one of its greatest weaknesses. You see, it is one of those systems that sounds awesome on paper, but falls flat in practice, because it does not take into account the "human factor". While it sounds fun to be able to plant and farm both plants and monsters, the developers saw fit to "encourage" (read, "force") players to interact with this system by giving each area an overseer NPC that has certain "wishes" as to the population of monsters and plants in its territory. If those wishes are respected, the NPC grants extra health, XP and loot in the area, if they aren't, the opposite happens. And here is where the system falls flat: a) Some of the NPCs wishes are almost impossible to fulfill without patient repopulation/replant efforts (good luck with that while the people described under b) are running around). And after you have successfully got the NPCs mood to the max level? You often find that you can barely interact with the ecosystem without disrupting it again pretty much immediately and losing all those carefully cultivated bonuses. b) Ignorant or (god forbid) actively malicious players can outright destroy an entire area - just because they can. It is simply not fun trying to repopulate an area with plants and animals while a bot or a ignorant player just chops down everything in sight without replanting and makes a mockery of your efforts. c) Planting plants and monsters is chance-based. Whether or not the seed actually takes root is left up to chance. The games gives out chances of up to 70%, but the "felt" success chance is much lower. And there is only one event that raises plant chance (which I know of) - a buff that lasts a mere 2 hours. d) The ability to farm seeds from both animal and plants is gated behind the progress of 4 professions (farmer, herbalist, lumberjack and trapper). So unless you're ready to invest quite a lot of time into leveling your professions, don't even think about influencing the ecosystem, because you often simply cannot.

@@MarleMMO Thing is: the ecosystem system offers excellent opportunities to grieve the entire game population. Saw that happen a few years ago. For context: in Wakfu (as in many other MMOs for similar things), there exists a inofficial "list" (more like a "gentleman's agreement" among the major guilds) that says which major guild is next in line to win a given nation's government election. The people involved fiercely deny that there is such a list, but it *does* exist. Sure, the people winning have different names, but how do you explain that the post of governor always cycles through the same major guilds? In the same order too? Some years ago, my medium-sized guild managed to "steal" the election for the post of governor away from a major guild who was "next in line" with the help of a lot of the other smaller guilds who hated this list, same as us. What followed was pure chaos. The major guilds were first incredulous that someone had *dared* to go against what they perceived as the natural order of things - then they were furious. What followed was environemtal destruction on an epic scale. They destroyed every ecosystem owned by that nation. Destroyed all the crops and herbs, hunted the monsters to extinction (luckily, the monsters in the dungeons are infinite and can be harvested for their seeds) and constantly demanded for the "usurper", the "false governor" to step down. It was pure madness until the GMs were forced to step in to restore order. Crazy. As I said before, such a system sounds great on paper, but if you forget to take into account the human factor (both positive and negative), things can get...hairy.

@@MarleMMO The entire game? Well, I like it well enough. It has its issues (like the last update eliminating the daily prayer buff (making the daily prayer rather pointless) and reworking certain classes that did not need to be reworked), but overall, I can live with the game. Sure, the ecosystem is often a bust, but as long as I stick to dungeon clearing for XP and to farming in the Haven Bag (a private farm area that no one can access against your will), things are pretty alright. From time to time, if I pass through a damaged ecosystem, I try to repair it and tell newbs running around about the benefits of keeping the system balanced, but the results are mixed.
i was waiting for the osa revamp was randomly checking the reddit and saw this lol kinda giving me that itch to play again though that really justs consists of me staying in the bag all day and farming xD but still this was very detailed and well spoken
I used to play Wakfu around 2018 with a few friends but haven't touched it since, recently I've been interested in returning cause it was a game I really enjoyed, but I just found that my original server (think it was called Elbor) was merged with another and all my contacts were lost, so I guess I'll give the game another chance and start from scratch
@@MarleMMO Definitely will, the only good thing is that at least there will be more people to play with, the spanish community in Elbor was always kinda toxic/not friendly with new players (at least at the time when I played there), which was one of the reasons why I lost interest in the game, with the new international servers I hope to find less "elitist" players... and it'll help me to keep practicing my english :)
in the " what do people say about wakfu" part, why are you reading review that are from 2016 and 2015 ? it would be more accurate to show review from 2020 to nowaday at least

I played this game for a bit a while back, and I quite enjoyed it. Thought I'd give it another go, not expecting to waste a few hour of my life for nothing. I used to play on steam, but the game wouldn't log me in. Looked it up and they said it was a known a problem, just convert your account into an ankama one. I did, but the problem persisted. Tried a few workarounds I found in forums, most said it was a steam problem so I downloaded the ankama launcher, still couldn't log in. Then I was like screw it my character was low level anyways I'll just make a new account, and the game finally starts, but it's stuck in the "connecting" screen. Back to the forums I go, uninstalled and re-installed everything, still nothing works. Don't know if it's worth putting any more effort into it, it feels like the game doesn't want people to play it.

Update: I opened the game again today and it connected normally! Maybe they just had server issues before. I also managed to log into my old account by changing my email address (which also acts as username). Glad it worked out in the end, I was looking for a good game I could play with my friend who has a crappy PC, and this one seems promising.

@@MarleMMO I played Dofus and Wakfu. Til they end the support and close the german Servers. I wish they make a New game. They had the best tactical round based fights i ever experienced.
Ah also I forgot to say that 0:29, Dofus has an anime too. Some of wakfu's old characters and gods were in Dofus too. There are also "Classes" in the Dofus anime that wern't seen in Wakfu but are in the game. One of them is Huppermage. And in 1:28 I saw that you have an osamodas character. If you still play that class you can ask me for anything about it, builds, summons, spells, equipments etc. ( And that class, despite being more of a support and summoner, its one of the best for PvE grinding alone or with others ).

@@MarleMMO I used to be, and I play a bit when an update comes up to keep up with the metas etc. But I dont really play, if I join the game I will just vibe around and leave after a while. Since 2021 I had this feeling of boredom when doing anything, playing games, reading, school stuff etc. So yeah, I dont really play games anymore unless if a friend tells me to hop on a game to joke around and stuff.

Wakfu is one of the game that if you've friends, you don't have to spend a dime since they aid you in PVE battles as 4-players team but if you don't have friends, you're forced to play alone against the same difficulty and same number of enemies which makes the difficulty 4 times harder since it's made that 4 players are playing in the same time so if you're f2p player, you can buy sidekicks in the game which are insanely expensive and lame in power or pay to be allowed to use your secondary characters in the same world you're using as if they were real players and that's the main focus on the game and all zones and maps are tailored around 4-players team regardless if they're AI or not, so unless you can have one of those, friends or pay, it's gonna be a pain to play this whole game with one single character.
@@KenericTheGeneric I was in an active guild in the past, we had our haven world and I was a prime farmer/Baker till one by one, members dropped with time, haven world sold, and I had trouble having friends to play with actively like I used to which made contents way harder than I'm used to.
I feel most of the english community in wakfu is pretty dead, i can fall back on the spanish speaaking one although this game definitely makes me want to learn french lol

That's a great question! Dofus is the antecedent MMO to Wakfu; they're set in the same universe, yet they're separate games. Hey Woodmen! There is an international server that is bustling with activity especially in Astrub (the starting town). If there are two players each controlling 3 toons, I believe Wakfu could be very rewarding and fulfilling if you enjoy turn based MMOs. The international server seems to primarily host English writing players although if you know a little Spanish or French (..or Latin), you can make your way through other's comments. :)
Yes, you can 100% the game with onyl 2 accounts. If you do the maths, 2 subs in wakfu are worth almost the same as 1 sub in most mmos. Is designed that way so people can play the game all by themselves if they want to. I tried to do this in december, but i got pretty bored because the game has changed so much over the years i don't recognize it as the game i fell in love back in the 2010 beta. As a new players that has no previous experience i 100% think you can get a lot of hours of fun and even more if you share the experience with a friend. I don't have a lot of experience about the meta nowadays, but is always recommended to have a team that consists of the next roles:(also sorry, i'll try to translate the classes but i only know their names in french and spanish) A melee damage dealer(Iop, Sram or ecaflip are very good options) A ranged damage dealer(Ocra is the easiest and less overloaded ranged class and is never in a bad spot) A full healer(Aniripsa, hands down, does its job so good it hasn't been touched since 2009) Someone who can give armor(Sadida and feca, sadida can offheal and feca can offtank, depends on how you build the other classes) A tank(Pandawa can fill this role to the outmost perfection due to also being the best positionator in the game, but there are also Feca and Steamer) Those are 4 roles that you need to have someone who do that rol on the fight 90% of the time. Now you'll need support classes or mixed ones. You need to fill someone who can take the enemy resistences down, someone who can control the enemy movements and etc. Enutrof is the second best for this, the easiest class to do this roll while doing decent damage per turn, being also a ranged dps. Number one class in the entire game is Zobal. For real. He can be top melee dps, second best heal, can control both movement and position of the enemies, can give armor and can heal while also lowering enemies resistences. Also can be built as a ranged do everything too. You can literally skip 3 roles picking this class and pick 2 random characters that do no sinergy for your team and you'll be good to go anyways. Sorry for the long text, but hope you have fun in the game.

@@MarleMMO He thinks that way because he can't make kamas (money) on the game. The game is capitalist af. How do I know that? I'm billionaire on pandora lmao. Those who do well will make exponantially more money whereas those who just started will truly struggle to progress at some point (the high end stuff is expensive). I've been there and you feel there's a glass ceiling when you just eye the prices of the things you need to buy, most would feel hopeless and demotivated and thus stop playing the galme. Also, what makes wakfu special is the strategy aspect. You truly need to use your brain at mid to high end game to progress. Strategy discussion and tactics is so frequent, you feel like there's always things to learn. The problem with the strategy is that it's sort of elitist and the casual player hate it (because it's frustrating for them that they can't just get through dungeons even with good equipments), that's why wakfu is not so casual friendly (at mid to high end game). That's why many casual players quit the game at lvl 170 approximately because there's "gap skill" so to speak. That's also why there's many posts on wakfu's forum of casual players complaining about the game being too hard and how that led them to just quit the game. These posts are upvoted quite a lot so it's clear many casual/ new players feel agree on that. Overall, wakfu is a specific type of game that is strategy heavy (at some point of the game). It can be extremely frustrating even for good players (to die again and again and fail), so it's certainly way worse for casual players.

Not enough new players and old players play with multiple accounts to do dungeons. And guess what? You should subscribe to game in order to play multiple accounts. The game is simply not for newbies. @@MarleMMO its not everyone's thing to gather in games but wakfu was so cool and extensive back when I played. The anti bot system also doubles as a reward for being human, you get to do a captcha and if you pass you get like double the yield you harvested before being bot checked was such a good time killer lol

My impression is that there is a togglable button that enables gear slotted /not/ to render. Regarding shop animations: that's a great question; I never bought one yet it would make sense that it'd apply there too.

Great video. Only one slight correction: the animated series actually had its first two seasons come out in 2008 and 2014 and Netflix had no part in the series until season 3 when they funded it.

I've been playing this game for a lot of time, I have 1000 hours+ on it, but I must say this: Wakfu is pretty fun for those who like turn based rpg with strategy, but the game lacks the community.
Everyone who plays wakfu is pretty friendly, but the thing is that most of the community doesnt speak english. But when you find someone who speaks english he will be friendly 99% of the time.
I hear you - my experience with the community has been overwhelmingly positive. Do you still play? 🙂

Once you reach level 96 the area quests give you insane exp, 1m-7m. So the grind is easy until level 140-150.
Another edit: Grinding alone isnt the easiest thing for me, cause I am a support class with a support build. But I could still get to level 140 if I tried for like 3-4 days.

I came here from my absolute love of final fantasy tactics and MMOs. Wakfu has alot of nuances that make it super fresh but familiar. It's genuinely a very tight fun game with alot to go for and learn that feels worth the time.
If you enjoy FFT & MMOs, you should certainly give Wakfu a try! 🥰
Wonderful video! It's actually been a few years since I last played but as a long time player, I can say that at the very least, if you enjoy tactical tile-based combat, then it's worth checking out Wakfu. I don't know what the current climate for Wakfu is like, but the only reason I really stopped playing as much was due to the poor marketting for English-speaking audiences.
In France (Ankama's country of origin of course), the games are *immensely* popular. Unfortunately, when they finally made the move to putting Wakfu on Steam, they flubbed their big chance to hook a new audience, as Ankama was still trying to figure things out, constantly changing how their tutorials introduce people to the game. I remember the beginning areas went through more than just a few changes including how the story itself started, but I think that with the animated series hooking bigger popularity, they've settled a bit easier on what they finally want out of it with new players expecting to see things they recognise from the show.
It's worth noting that whilst the game advertises itself as being based on the animated show, the reality is that Wakfu in general was a multimedia project as both the game and show came out roughly around the same time, including the betas for the game (actually, if you take note of my profile picture I've had for years here, this is actually an OLD design for one of the mobs: Celestial Tofu).
For those who don't know, Ankama's MAIN baby is the MMORPG "Dofus" which has a similar format in gameplay and combat, but running for more than 20 years now, it's players are far more comfortable with it. Wakfu is the sequel to Dofus in both gameplay AND story, although Dofus got it's own animation (Treasures of Kerub, it's great) AFTER Wakfu got theirs.
But yes, unfortunately when releasing to Steam some time ago, a lot of things were too little too late, as Steam players came in to what still felt like an incomplete starting area and would assume the rest of the game was like this. The reality was that old players would already know there was plenty more to offer, but the gap in early content was so large, that it wouldn't be obvious, thus player numbers dropped off rather quickly.
My main class is the Xelor. A time mage that can teleport and manipulate AP gain. To be honest, another one of the reasons I've dropped off the game a little is related to the fact that Xelors were at one point rebalanced.
I spent a LOT of time levelling and optimising my xelor, but at some point, Ankama focused on rehauling combat for a lot of classes, and Xelor was one of them. When the update hit, my Xelor felt like an entirely different character that I actually couldn't figure out how to play it anymore due to how technical by nature it was.
I would like to return to the game one day and figure all that out again, but for now, I still hope new players can dig into the game and discover the same charm that hooked me for many years to come.

I don't mean to scare the new players away, but i have probably over 6,000 game hours in Wakfu, i played since the 1st day of the release in 2010, but even as someone who have played Wakfu since 2010, sometimes i have much things to learn from each fight, yes it's that deep to learn
But once you know the basics, you will either love it or hate it. i still love to login once in a while to help newbies, but i have completely stop playing end game. there's not much new development for years other than a few xtra features, the map have been the same for as long as i can remember

yes and no, the original game is dofus, but the wakfu game was created after the wakfu series
The ecological system is one of the game's strengths - and also one of its greatest weaknesses. You see, it is one of those systems that sounds awesome on paper, but falls flat in practice, because it does not take into account the "human factor". While it sounds fun to be able to plant and farm both plants and monsters, the developers saw fit to "encourage" (read, "force") players to interact with this system by giving each area an overseer NPC that has certain "wishes" as to the population of monsters and plants in its territory. If those wishes are respected, the NPC grants extra health, XP and loot in the area, if they aren't, the opposite happens. And here is where the system falls flat:
a) Some of the NPCs wishes are almost impossible to fulfill without patient repopulation/replant efforts (good luck with that while the people described under b) are running around). And after you have successfully got the NPCs mood to the max level? You often find that you can barely interact with the ecosystem without disrupting it again pretty much immediately and losing all those carefully cultivated bonuses.
b) Ignorant or (god forbid) actively malicious players can outright destroy an entire area - just because they can. It is simply not fun trying to repopulate an area with plants and animals while a bot or a ignorant player just chops down everything in sight without replanting and makes a mockery of your efforts.
c) Planting plants and monsters is chance-based. Whether or not the seed actually takes root is left up to chance. The games gives out chances of up to 70%, but the "felt" success chance is much lower. And there is only one event that raises plant chance (which I know of) - a buff that lasts a mere 2 hours.
d) The ability to farm seeds from both animal and plants is gated behind the progress of 4 professions (farmer, herbalist, lumberjack and trapper). So unless you're ready to invest quite a lot of time into leveling your professions, don't even think about influencing the ecosystem, because you often simply cannot.

@@MarleMMO Thing is: the ecosystem system offers excellent opportunities to grieve the entire game population. Saw that happen a few years ago.
For context: in Wakfu (as in many other MMOs for similar things), there exists a inofficial "list" (more like a "gentleman's agreement" among the major guilds) that says which major guild is next in line to win a given nation's government election. The people involved fiercely deny that there is such a list, but it *does* exist. Sure, the people winning have different names, but how do you explain that the post of governor always cycles through the same major guilds? In the same order too?
Some years ago, my medium-sized guild managed to "steal" the election for the post of governor away from a major guild who was "next in line" with the help of a lot of the other smaller guilds who hated this list, same as us.
What followed was pure chaos.
The major guilds were first incredulous that someone had *dared* to go against what they perceived as the natural order of things - then they were furious. What followed was environemtal destruction on an epic scale. They destroyed every ecosystem owned by that nation. Destroyed all the crops and herbs, hunted the monsters to extinction (luckily, the monsters in the dungeons are infinite and can be harvested for their seeds) and constantly demanded for the "usurper", the "false governor" to step down. It was pure madness until the GMs were forced to step in to restore order. Crazy.
As I said before, such a system sounds great on paper, but if you forget to take into account the human factor (both positive and negative), things can get...hairy.

@@MarleMMO The entire game? Well, I like it well enough. It has its issues (like the last update eliminating the daily prayer buff (making the daily prayer rather pointless) and reworking certain classes that did not need to be reworked), but overall, I can live with the game. Sure, the ecosystem is often a bust, but as long as I stick to dungeon clearing for XP and to farming in the Haven Bag (a private farm area that no one can access against your will), things are pretty alright. From time to time, if I pass through a damaged ecosystem, I try to repair it and tell newbs running around about the benefits of keeping the system balanced, but the results are mixed.

I used to play Wakfu around 2018 with a few friends but haven't touched it since, recently I've been interested in returning cause it was a game I really enjoyed, but I just found that my original server (think it was called Elbor) was merged with another and all my contacts were lost, so I guess I'll give the game another chance and start from scratch

I played this game for a bit a while back, and I quite enjoyed it. Thought I'd give it another go, not expecting to waste a few hour of my life for nothing.
I used to play on steam, but the game wouldn't log me in. Looked it up and they said it was a known a problem, just convert your account into an ankama one. I did, but the problem persisted. Tried a few workarounds I found in forums, most said it was a steam problem so I downloaded the ankama launcher, still couldn't log in. Then I was like screw it my character was low level anyways I'll just make a new account, and the game finally starts, but it's stuck in the "connecting" screen. Back to the forums I go, uninstalled and re-installed everything, still nothing works. Don't know if it's worth putting any more effort into it, it feels like the game doesn't want people to play it.

Update: I opened the game again today and it connected normally! Maybe they just had server issues before. I also managed to log into my old account by changing my email address (which also acts as username).

Ah also I forgot to say that 0:29, Dofus has an anime too. Some of wakfu's old characters and gods were in Dofus too. There are also "Classes" in the Dofus anime that wern't seen in Wakfu but are in the game. One of them is Huppermage.
And in 1:28 I saw that you have an osamodas character. If you still play that class you can ask me for anything about it, builds, summons, spells, equipments etc. ( And that class, despite being more of a support and summoner, its one of the best for PvE grinding alone or with others ).

Since 2021 I had this feeling of boredom when doing anything, playing games, reading, school stuff etc.
So yeah, I dont really play games anymore unless if a friend tells me to hop on a game to joke around and stuff.

Wakfu is one of the game that if you've friends, you don't have to spend a dime since they aid you in PVE battles as 4-players team but if you don't have friends, you're forced to play alone against the same difficulty and same number of enemies which makes the difficulty 4 times harder since it's made that 4 players are playing in the same time so if you're f2p player, you can buy sidekicks in the game which are insanely expensive and lame in power or pay to be allowed to use your secondary characters in the same world you're using as if they were real players and that's the main focus on the game and all zones and maps are tailored around 4-players team regardless if they're AI or not, so unless you can have one of those, friends or pay, it's gonna be a pain to play this whole game with one single character.

That's a great question! Dofus is the antecedent MMO to Wakfu; they're set in the same universe, yet they're separate games. They play somewhat similarly, although Dofus is older and emphasizes more of a traditional questing path whereas Wakfu tends to emphasize sandbox progression. :)

There is an international server that is bustling with activity especially in Astrub (the starting town). If there are two players each controlling 3 toons, I believe Wakfu could be very rewarding and fulfilling if you enjoy turn based MMOs.
The international server seems to primarily host English writing players although if you know a little Spanish or French (..or Latin), you can make your way through other's comments. :)

Yes, you can 100% the game with onyl 2 accounts.
If you do the maths, 2 subs in wakfu are worth almost the same as 1 sub in most mmos.
Is designed that way so people can play the game all by themselves if they want to. I tried to do this in december, but i got pretty bored because the game has changed so much over the years i don't recognize it as the game i fell in love back in the 2010 beta.
As a new players that has no previous experience i 100% think you can get a lot of hours of fun and even more if you share the experience with a friend.
I don't have a lot of experience about the meta nowadays, but is always recommended to have a team that consists of the next roles:(also sorry, i'll try to translate the classes but i only know their names in french and spanish)
A melee damage dealer(Iop, Sram or ecaflip are very good options)
A ranged damage dealer(Ocra is the easiest and less overloaded ranged class and is never in a bad spot)
A full healer(Aniripsa, hands down, does its job so good it hasn't been touched since 2009)
Someone who can give armor(Sadida and feca, sadida can offheal and feca can offtank, depends on how you build the other classes)
A tank(Pandawa can fill this role to the outmost perfection due to also being the best positionator in the game, but there are also Feca and Steamer)
Those are 4 roles that you need to have someone who do that rol on the fight 90% of the time.
Now you'll need support classes or mixed ones.
You need to fill someone who can take the enemy resistences down, someone who can control the enemy movements and etc.
Enutrof is the second best for this, the easiest class to do this roll while doing decent damage per turn, being also a ranged dps.
Number one class in the entire game is Zobal.
For real. He can be top melee dps, second best heal, can control both movement and position of the enemies, can give armor and can heal while also lowering enemies resistences. Also can be built as a ranged do everything too.
You can literally skip 3 roles picking this class and pick 2 random characters that do no sinergy for your team and you'll be good to go anyways.

Those who do well will make exponantially more money whereas those who just started will truly struggle to progress at some point (the high end stuff is expensive).
I've been there and you feel there's a glass ceiling when you just eye the prices of the things you need to buy, most would feel hopeless and demotivated and thus stop playing the galme.
Also, what makes wakfu special is the strategy aspect. You truly need to use your brain at mid to high end game to progress. Strategy discussion and tactics is so frequent, you feel like there's always things to learn.
The problem with the strategy is that it's sort of elitist and the casual player hate it (because it's frustrating for them that they can't just get through dungeons even with good equipments), that's why wakfu is not so casual friendly (at mid to high end game).
That's why many casual players quit the game at lvl 170 approximately because there's "gap skill" so to speak.
That's also why there's many posts on wakfu's forum of casual players complaining about the game being too hard and how that led them to just quit the game. These posts are upvoted quite a lot so it's clear many casual/ new players feel agree on that.
Overall, wakfu is a specific type of game that is strategy heavy (at some point of the game). It can be extremely frustrating even for good players (to die again and again and fail), so it's certainly way worse for casual players.
@@MarleMMO That's true it's a trash game for new players. Number one reason is that you need other players to do a dungeon. But guess what? There are no available players to party with. Not enough new players and old players play with multiple accounts to do dungeons. And guess what? You should subscribe to game in order to play multiple accounts. The game is simply not for newbies. Only old players enjoy it.
