Hopefully this new format works well and I can review tons of creations quickly which means we can do more community challenges. I'm always super excited to see what other people come up with and I guarantee MY creation this time will be super quick.
i subbed to it but it doesnt show. it should be listed along with other challenge stuff right ? rusty and havent done challenge stuff for a couple years so i might have forgotten something.
@@MrLarsgren When you sub to it you still have to create your own challenge. It is essentially just a creation that you have to load into a world yourself (except it has challenge parts so it can only load into a challenge world)
Can I suggest that you allow 11 sensors (10 functional ones and a single one to detect the door opening) for those people who plan on having more symmetry?
@@kANGaming thx for the reply. i just remembered how much i hate being in challenge mode so ill skip this challenge. hope there will be some really good builds
I remember the old challenge 😂 Felt pretty confident and designed the creation to be 100% accurate. Then I was in your live stream and nearly everyone was so much faster ^^ But in my run I was the only one of 4(?) to complete the course since the others drove off...
kAN: As a tip for your challenge track building: Have all the colors you used on one wall of the build area. That way you don't have to explain your color choice to the viewers/contestants because anyone building a robot can use those color samples to test/calibrate their sensors to the correct colors, without having to make it halfway through the course.
My god this was so long ago, made me have so much nostalgia with this, i remember the ai city and floating city that was getting built along side these challenges
I got annoyed by some of the designs he got last time where a lot of the sensor comb robots weren't really smartly or more creatively designed. I don't remember Kan complaining about it, but now it looks like he noticed that too. Sometimes creativity comes from limitations. edit: but I agree that it's a weird part to put limits on. The real problem is gonna be all the robots that extend wheels to the sides of the road and grab it like a monorail and go supersonic without needing any sensors. maybe there shouldn've been rules against that.
I think I might make one, I think sensing the edges rather than the lines would make it more accurate, and the colors would represent the different parts, so I can track it and have some pre set angles, with the edge sensors ajusting for any irregularities.
Not sure if I should resurrect my old line follower. It was faster in the corners, but got obliterated on the straights. I only made it to round 2 because the faster robots by better builders failed.
@@nic2097 i’ve been working on one i don’t know if i’ll have enough time to finish it before the challenge ends but it’s gotten a decent amount through anyway it uses xor logic and timers to tell when a certain logic gate to turn on and then off and that signal then is used to power the wheels in certain ways or if to turn or not then theoretically if it’s lined up in the same spot then every time is should make it at ridiculous speeds cause it doesn’t even need to read anything from the map then again it would be useless if kan did a switcheroo and tested the best creations on a more complex map to see the actual winner
"I didn't feel the need to build checkpoints around the track" Of course not. Dapper isn't really a big Scrap Mechanic player. (Although, he would totally build something that jumped from blue to blue somehow.)
I've got the core (activate system) on/off shown as a timer and light on top of the build. I have the "armed" circuit set the same. And I have my arrays of sensors tied into their respective lateral gates to turn the head in the direction of observed movement. Activating the "core" switch, makes the seeker head begin its passive scan. It won't move, unless something crosses it's path. To arm the seeker, the switch above "core" needs to be thrown. Both switches have a delay. Targets at dead center receive a 5-7 spud burst.
someone go build a thing that steps over the starting fence, drives around up until the jump and then shoots the switch to start the challenge the time will only be how long it will take for the jump
Anyone got a good time on this track yet? I don't have discord so can't check there. EDIT: never mind, figured it out. Also my best so far is around 25.500 while following rules and not riding walls.
i spent a hour building a 3 speed bot that follows the line and stuff has steering so it does not loose speed, and then i went to discord to post i see people just sending bots that extend out and grip the side and under track to get 10 second time. bruh wheres the creativity in that, anyone can make that

Looking forward to seeing the competition
I was just watching spleef robots and kAN is back with robo buddys
I don't think there should be a limit on sensors your limiting creativity and a speedy robot is cool, but a super smart robot is cooler

I %100 agree. There’s no reason for there to be such a restriction on the intelligence of the robot. Let alone such a drastic one.
@@arcturuslight_ The 'hug' design was the first thing I thought of. Drive forward, stop, extend arms, nyooom.
@@DigitalJedi Could probably counter that with tall stakes placed randomly on the sides/edges of the road?

Sounds like fun I'm definetely participating!
I may actually have to build something for this. Looks like a lot of fun. For future challenge, I suggest robot walkers do it

Were they truly better builders if they failed?
@@henke37 Yes. One of them was BlueFlame who I think won or placed in every challenge.
what if i dont want to?
He needs it… don’t let your pookie kan gaming down
Too bad, we must answer our lord’s request
The robot is within you. You must let it out, lest it claw its way to the surface
Jokes on you, you already did it.
I break into your house, toast all your bread, steal all your batteries, and unplug all your power cords.
the thing about this challenge is that the course doesn’t change when you test it
so you can just make a robot that has the map pre-memorized
if you can figure that out then good on you. I think if you can make a fast one then that would be pretty impressive

You should do more of these community challenges
Im guessing if y ou want to build guide rails that fold out that would be ok. As long as it starts as a 16x16 creation
Maybe have two sections to the showcase. The speed challenge section and the interesting submissions section.
I was gonna have thrusters as down force and then when it gets to the green part have a boost active to jump the gap
Its back baby!

I feel so old I remember when kAN did this challenge the first time
It reminde me "Bot Factory" 😃
You should try "Locks & Keys" by "Rooooooooler"
Should let the participant change the gray track. Add their own green, pink, blue.
I'm barely at the level of controlling a wide arc, stationary scanning drone. Still learning the gates and switches...

kan, sir. i will get on with doing this tomorrow.
You should do something like this for Multiplayer Monday..
2 electric engines max next unlimited logic
You could try making the next challenge a hover bot next time
Make it more interesting
someone go build a thing that steps over the starting fence, drives around up until the jump and then shoots the switch to start the challenge

What about using thrusters for downforce?
Can you build a V-Twin engine powered by spudguns? Potato-potato-potato
Wow, 1 view & 8 likes
I have no Scrap Mechanic experience but I have a good build idea for the contest. Though, I can't join because I'm poor.
Why no suspension steering?
use wheels to ride the edges?
Just me thinking up ideas and then remembering I broke my computer 😢
As open ended as possible with a 10 sensor limit?
If it does work, I hope you do more and title the series "kAN's kANtest Series" .... *nods*
Railroads Online!!!
So kANs getting us to do his work for him… I see how it is
Someones gonna do the shortcut
And what about glitchwelding? 🤔
Do Railroads Online videos pls
Make a driveable robot🤣🤣👌
Hey Kan will you play Trans Siberian Railway Simulator on May 30th?
Could you add a summary of the rules to the video description or a pinned comment?
will i disqualified if I try to make the shortcut jump?
yes
are u asking me? ohh u are asking he uhh or maybe u?
No discord for me, so no robot from me D:
Can you make a video on a challenge pack called Botspot?
Railroad online series .
Why did you stop uploading video
yooo 30m gang
I would post something, but steam put me in time out till mid-june so i cant post anything till then.
You should do it again in summer , I have exams so can’t participate now 🙄
anyone up for making a catapult robot that follows the rules. like a literal catapult.

Bro what happened to railroads online 😢 kan I've been waiting
you should also include part count. simpler is better.
What if i can’t?

No, @squishyblue3098 was first😐
