  • Here's some footage of my practise dive at Shield Street Reef Redcliffe Queensland. It was my first jump from a boat. Conditions were great which made it easy, no wind, sunny, and high tide.
Wintertime is best to dive off Redcliffe as the water is at its clearest.
The reef is only around 2.5 meters deep with the edges getting to 4 metres deep.
Whilst I didn't see much of interest this time, I'm confident there is something there. It will just take some more exploring and I'm keen to do it.

Great vid. I prefer no filter at that depth. Hope to see lots more diving vids. Fishing from the top .. it’s good to see what’s on the bottom for once

Thanks. Yes i think no filter in shallow depths.
I certainly plan to do more videos of different locations around redcliffe.

That was cool I like seeing what’s down there 👍👍👍👍👍 I liked no filter I thought red filter made the water look dirty look forward to more 👍👍

Thanks Cam. I thought no filter did look better. Maybe that red is for deeper than say 10 or 15 meters.

That was good to see. I'd be interested to see what you find diving around St Helens reef around there or green island and the squid.
Also no filter, if water is pretty green it helps but that look OK.

yes. I think you're right about that filter. i think in clear water I will experiment with, no filter down to at least 5 meters, light red/pink a little deeper and the red after 15 meters. see how that goes.
I'll work up to diving those places. Over the next couple of months, Im going to explore places off Redcliffe.

At that depth a red filter is probably not required. I thought there might be more to see though judging from what I've seen in the past when kayaking around the reef. Still nice to have a look though.

Yes thanks for the comment. That is my conclusion. No need for a filter at such shallow depths though i will try the lighter pink filter too.
