I would say Unbound is slightly more realistic even if you don't usually get stuck on that, it's more realistic than the clipping and sudden instant jump up from payback. High center is a real thing anyway so Unbound seems to make that seem to be the case more accurately.
I hate how easy it is to break a metal guardrail in unbound. Those things are solid in real life, takes a high speed to get through it (if you miss a post holding it in the ground) but unbound you can just drive through it like a piece of string
How’s payback has better physics? Well unbound has some not only drift but now you can build yourself grip builds. Cars that grip instead of drift at least that’s somewhat realistic but still they’re all arcade games.

It should matter at some point. You wanna immerse yourself to illegal street racing then you gotta get the right feeling for the game's world. A car's suspension reacting properly to a bump isn't that too much to ask for and I'm glad Unbound thought of that.
I disageee, just because it's a racing game doesn't it mean cannot be classified an open world game. They have been doing this since Underground 2 being the first open world NFS game Take for exemple the Driver games from the PS1. Most of the time you're racing against the time or running away from the police. Yet similar to GTA but the main focus of Driver are the driving and the chases.

I would like to see more comparisons like; Max dirt (similar to max damage), Nitrous (how it exits the exhaust), Burnouts, Tire marks (when doing burnouts, drifting, or braking), AI's road sense (when coming in an intersection, do they stop? And if you were to drive normally, are they going the speed limit? I found Payback's speed to be really slow, around 25 mph, give or take), Ragdoll/Crash Physics, Turbo Flutter, Wheelies, etc
In NFS Payback it is actually possible that bots talk to you during the race but only the gang leaders. I don't know how it is in Unbound but at least you have some talks in Payback.
Honestly payback did it better when it comes to racer dialogue, unbound has more but it’s nothing but cringey shit like “I’m not about to let you take my money!” And many other things that are cringe… even our character says a lot of cringey things

NFS Payback with the ''Sutututu Mod'' its just a masterpiece. I really enjoyed that game, Race are kinda complicated and sense of speed is OP... BTW, We are all wrong if we are searching for realism in a NFS game

Most Wanted 05 is overrated. The majority of fans played it on console back then without mods. It isn't good. Its only good now probably because of the mods. Shows how bad a game is if you have to modify it
Payback is actually better looking with chrome but unbound has better reflections. Payback has an exaggerated but rewarding drift system that actually works really well.
The 2015 graphics are the most realistic ever used in an NFS, It has real characters in the game that belong to the racing world, and the cars themselves don't look like toys, they are massive and better done than nfs heat and all the others
honestly the overall driving, atmosphere, world and musics of payback is my favourite in last 4 nfs games, and the only one that i fully finished %100. only if it idnt have that stupid gambling system for builds it could be the best nfs

My problem with Unbound is lighting. The graphics are better but areas that should be dark like radiators, brakes etc. look like they are shone with the sun regardless of where you are. Like in a tunnel for example

So after all the game just reused most materials from the previous games, my theory, they first exist in rivals, rivals, 2015, payback, heat, unbound are just the same game with different scripts and art style
Not uncommon in gaming. Nfs undercover used assets from hot pursuit 2 onwards, gta 5 still has some san andreas scripts in its code and assassins creed Valhalla still has code from unity.
