- As a software engineer who has been using the new M1 Pro and M1 Max Macbook Pros for months now, what excites me about these new Mac Studio devices from a software development perspective? The M1 Ultra is going be an excellent iteration on the M1 Max, and the use of the same die to combine two chips into one proves just how innovative and forward thinking Apple really is. Take a look with me on this new device and how it is going to fit into my daily use for software engineering.
Great to hear real devs talking about Apple Silicon hardware instead of just subscriber-hungry so called "tech" youtubers, thx for your input!
Yeah, imagine running some sketchy benchmark build, noting down the time and going "so this is better". There's so much more that is needed.
im glad i finally found a review from a dev or someone using it for more than just editing videos
Finally a real review that has be done for m1 max computer for programming
I'm excited for the Mac Studio. I have a fully spec'd 16-inch M1 Max MacBook Pro. You are right the speakers are amazing. I would verify though the speakers for the Mac Studio are anywhere near as good. From what I've heard the speaker is no better than the Mac mini. Which would not surprise me and would not detract in anyway from my excitement for the Mac Studio.
I really appreciate your video from a real developer's perspective. I just subscribed.
thanks for the video. base model mac studio is more than enough for my development workflow. I ran lots of spring boot microservices in intellij. I also use docker and minikube.
Can I say and I hope this is taken in a positive way as it is intended.... your channel is great love it, and something people need. but I would love to see couple small tweaks to up the level a little. 1) use a LUT to colour video a little create a deeper colour range and tone, and amplify your great work space, and bring out skin tones. 2) the room needs a little sound damping little bit of echo going on... can make these cheap and match the room atheistic.. 3) the mic your using is clear, but it lacking depth or warmth or base in short... use a shot gun mike just above your head, or invest in a rode wireless go... honestly sound is key to making channels come alive. out side that your amazing, thank you for doing such great content.
Really appreciate all the tips! I started reading up about all this today. Got some luts installed and putting up some blankets to dampen sound
@@D3VTec awsome keep up the great work..
love your opinion and review. can't wait to see your mac studio! **subscribed
Thank you for the kind words and support
could you remind please, what dock station are you using? for 1 cable connect monitors, etc.
Hahaha love the testing plug 👍🤓
coming back after months after seing the first video about android studio. I am smiling again again about the couch comment lol ( I am an android dev)
Android fam! Lol
LOL, how convenient that your existing home server got fried just as the Mac Studio was launched. :) Seriously though, sounds like it'll be a great upgrade. Looking forward to seeing the benchmarks.
All valid points. But the thing you need to think about is that Apple will drop osx support for your Mac Studio in about 6/7 years time. Which means you will have a very good hardware but outdated OS.
Can we connect Samsung tab s8 ultra as a monitor with Apple Mac studio M1 ultra 🙏🏼
If yes then how we can connect please tell me 🙏🏼
Great vid. I think it really boils down exactly to what you said, portability and memory
can you do a tutorial for the home server
I wish the M1 Pro had a 64GB RAM option. I really don't need the extra memory bandwidth or GPU cores. I wish I could throttle it for optimal battery life. Either way, my 16" M1 Max machine has been incredible and the best Apple purchase I've made to date.
I want/need to upgrade from my blast furnace 15” i9 6 core MBP. Yesterday, I had a very well spec’ed Mac Studio ordered then I canceled it because losing portability is a concern. I do have a 13” MBA M1 16GB grab-n-go laptop…I just don’t know if that will be enough horsepower for my dev workflows away from my desk, once I get use to M1 Max or Ultra speeds. Great video…Thanks!
Why don’t buying a 16-inch M1 Max MacBook Pro?
Sounds good but maybe a better argument for base Mac Studio Max with 64gb memory
Nice video! Are you not going to wait for the upcoming Mac Pro?? That may be more powerful than Mac studio!
my experience with M1Air and M1Max compared to Intel Mac is similar. Intel MBP suck and ran HOT. I've stopped using my AMD ryzen 3700x for React work. Even just running npm start on a small project the M1Air blows away my ryzen 3700x with 64G of memory. IntelliJ runs way better on M1Air than my beefy workstation.
Hmm, interesting your server fried, is a UPS ugly for your setup? Haha
Too late! I already bought a M1 Ultra Mac Studio. Just waiting for it to come in.
We'll be upgrading to M1 Pro / Max Macs this year at our company, but I just prefer the versatility of my regular Ryzen-based PC in terms of desktop. I also shelled out about 5000$ for my PC give or take and with the 3090 it can run games quite well in my living room if I want to.
What's funny, is, that apparently the M1 laptops and especially the new desktop probably would've the horsepower to be nearly on par in terms of gaming, but the support in games for Macs, let alone M1 ones, is almost non-existent.
Spot on!
Most game devs code for GPUs, so there is no surprise there and there isn’t a motivation for the game industry to move to the Mac with PC games and the Xbox ecosystems. Apple pretty much won the casual game market due to IOS though.
The Studio is going to make for one amazing server. I'm guessing you got 128GB :)
I was disappointed by the lack of rack mounting options, there will probably be 3rd party rack mount kits
@@joeltucci1916 You've got a really good point there. I bet so many IT specialists are just jumping at the opportunity to rack these and take advantage of all that compute power. Hopefully Apple or a 3rd party offers a solution.
Excellent point
Absolutely no. There is much more to servers then a prices creator gadget. No defined service roadmaps made whole Apple company already impossible to deal with for servers
Your garage studio project is completed?
On pause. Starting soon now that the weather is warming up!
Thanks for asking!
cannot understand 100% ur idea, u mean macbook pro max is terrible specially for memory management ?? can u explain more plz
A studio as a server???? …. geeez … logical reasoning is just not your thing ….
Make sure you buy the most expensive mac studio & let us know how it goes... you can do it! 😆
