The track from the bothy to Geldie is hard going, on arrival at Geldie it dawns how big the route is. Flip flops and mountain bikes great advances for doing the hills. Although remember to take the helmet off when leaving the bike. First time I did these two on my own, I was half way along the track to Carn aFhidhleir when I realised I still had the thing on my head. That helmets only 2 munros.

HI James, magnificent adventure, that's one long old day. Absolutely brilliant, like you I just love the sense of remoteness, the more remote the better. Thanks for sharing it with us as ever. All the best, Dave

Well done James on a long route. Bike definitely the way to go, I hate those long boring walks in and always use a bike when I can. I might steal your crocs idea. I wouldn't fancy these on a wet misty day so clear weather for me also when I get to do them.

25 years to the day since I was on these two as part of a 3 day trip from Blair Atholl. Middle of nowhere!

I have always wanted to do these two munros. I was in Braemar a couple of years ago but I didn't get good enough weather to do a big route like that. I don't fancy doing a 30 mile round trip to see the back of my hand. I didn't think these two were classed as Cairngorm hills, I thought of them as part of the Forest of Atholl as they are the highest points in that vast undulating empty moorland between glen Tilt and glen Geldie.

New subscriber to your channel mate, really loving it. Great videos. I've learned loads and find them super relaxing. Just starting my own Munro journey and building up slowly. Did Ben Chonzie the other day and planning Dreish and Mayar in a month or so. Keep up the good work fella.

Looks like you had the same weather as me. I left my bike at the lodge it was easier to walk than cycle due to the head wind. Great cycle back though. Did this in October 96 but thanks for bringing back the memories.

James - as someone from a warmer climate I think I would have died in that cold wind & water.

Great video James. Back in 1992 I walked into these two from Linn of Dee round trip of 10 hours. 11 years later repeated the route but this time cycled as far as Geldie Lodge still took 8 hours. They are indeed remote but what surprised me was the extent of the footpaths as 30 odd years ago most of the ascent from Geldie Lodge was over trackless heather. This just shows how popular Munro Bagging has become.

Endless slog over trackless heather... now that sounds tough...

Ooh, I felt that cold water from here, James! Great idea to bring the crocs though, as those stones on riverbeds have a nasty habit of being really sharp on bare feet!

Desperate to bag these two as I feel they're mountains you only climb if you have peak bagging ambitions, the absolute definition of a slog. As much as I want to do it this year I feel like daylight is going to be my enemy. I can't drive again until October and go to Florida a couple days later, that leaves me late October/November going into flat out no-go territory without a winter camp. I don't think there's any of my friends mental enough to leave Aberdeen at 4am to bag them with me during the Summer! Brilliant effort James!

@@paulharvey9149 would still be Baltic, I’d also have to lug more around with me on the journey. Think the wisest move is save it for next year 😅

Wow, another 2 in the bag James, not many more to do now.. great filming as ever, you are an inspiration! I'm planning on doing these two next from Glenfeshie as it's nearer me, as it would have been for you, so I was just wondering what made you decide to make the journey over to Deeside rather than do it from Glenfeshie? Your decision making, might influence me to change my route plan...

That's a long day and tiring. Done these 2 about 3 years ago in blistering heat. Thankfully the rivers were nearly non existent so was able to cycle thru without issue

A..." 7"... Wow your generous 😂.. I would give them a 5... They have got to be the dullest pair of munros I've ever done 😂
" not very inspiring views from the top", your right there 👍😂
The cycle is great near flat the whole way to the old lodge, but you cycle through the rivers its a mountain bike your using man, head down arse up power through them 👍😂
Enjoyed your vid as always , I see you left out Ben Lomond when you were in that area ? Is this going to be your last one 👍
