    you are right. alot of people dont understand these exercises are used for injury prevention. Alot of these exercises are also activating fast twitch muscle fibers and also help with quick, solid explosiveness and speed. what i like about these exercises is that they are not focusing oin buildig muscle but actually making the muscle you already have stronger. alot of defensive backs do that kind of training.

    yes you are right free weights are much harder in general, but these exercises focus on fast twitch muscle fiber conditioning and help with muscle stabily, explosiveness, and speed. its not "what" your lifting with, its "how your lifting. Notice in the video the partial to full repititions hes using. these are to activate fast twitch muscle fibers for above said reasons. alot of defensive back undergo this type of training.

    @rtw2k you obviously don't know anything before Marv Marinovich Troy Polomalu weighed: 220-215 ran a 4.64 in in his 40 had a bad 3 cone and was projected to be a 2 round pick after training with Marv he lost 15 pounds walks around at 209 ran a 4.43 in his forty and became the steelers 1st round pick you have given no basis to why Marv is wrong simply because he doesn't use a conventional system of training

    The OTC must not be aware that SSL is all "fast and explosive" and the O-lifts are "slow" (as Troy falsely stated). I wonder how the OTC will tie "slow" movements like the O-lifts and SSL together in one training protocol?
    And as for instability training, there are many studies showing there is no benefit for athletes on the field/court or in the weightroom. An athlete performs resistance training to improve power output during competition.

    what he's doin makes a lot of sense, but why did he say olympic lifts are slow moving? the clean and snatch are extremely explosive and require a mass amount of speed, flexibility, endurance and stability.

    Troy -
    Consider adding squatprecision to each of Pittsburgh Steeler's squat racks for: an added safety feature and helping each player achieve the most productive / effecient squat depth. Steelers logo can be added to the device if the patch(es) are sent to us. Just google or do a quick utube search for sqautprecision to see a product video. Hope you achieve full knee recovery soon.

  • @SupremeSportsPT
    @SupremeSportsPT 14 лет назад

    @MiztaBlu Injuries are often the result of freak accidents...like Crumpler falling on him in the Titans game. However, with proper training via free weights, the body becomes more durable from the cellular level through the connective tissue, bones, & muscles. Troy incorrectly says that the OL are slow lifts. If they're slow, you're doing them incorrectly. It's true that you cannot replicate sport movements in the weight room but heavy weight training is key to strength & force production.

  • @davidf35
    @davidf35 12 лет назад

    that is debatable because squatting is a movement in both the snatch and clean/jerk.

  • @biggteez12
    @biggteez12 16 лет назад

    he has so much freedom roaming in Pittsburgh defense that the opponents offense really cant tell where hes going to be at which makes the secondary tough to breakdown and the linebackers free to mak plays on the flat and pile up sacks

  • @jaysk8er
    @jaysk8er 15 лет назад

    If you read Arnold Schwarzenegger's book, "Arnold's Bodybuilding for Men" you will note that working out without shoes provides more stabalization and builds muscle more evenly. He related wearing shoes during his squats and other leg exercises to having "one inch thick, flat, rubber gloves" on your hands. It cheats your body.

    No it doesn't make sense.
    And how often does a football player lay on a swiss ball kicking his feet in the air?
    Just because a lift doesn't mimic a real life sports movement doesn't mean it provides no benefit.
    Olympic lifts develop power by strengthening your legs, core, and your hips, which is where power is generated from.

    @Southpaw447 Your right about football being a team sport but that still does not hide the fact that Troy is the best DB in football history. You cant compare him to the past hall of famers because the talent live in football today is way better. By the way Marvs training focuses on explosiveness and I know many guys that have went through his program and felt a big increase in cardio and quickness. Troy as said it and also B.J Penn from the UFC. It has been proven already. I know biometrics.

    Having a Superbowl ring rarely means shit in terms of individuality. Football is a team sport and making it to the superbowl requires an overall strong and talented team. Never has a team made it to the superbowl on account of 1 player.
    Troy is a superbowl champion because of guys like Ben, Ward, Holmes Woodley, not just Troy.

  • @mpcc2022
    @mpcc2022 15 лет назад

    well you guys have the concept mest up it's not about doing it super fast or wather olympic lifst are slow it's that it only produces convetional strength and not athletic groth it does not promote balance nor flexibilty which a lack of can promote injury

    I did my research and came up with this - SSL is 100% junk. Partial ROM on silly machines is not the optimal way to train any athlete. Teaching the CNS and human muscle tissue to stretch/contract through 1/2 ROM while constantly banging out ballistic reps is dumb, irresponsible and unsafe. How does muscle provide maximum power output when it is being trained to work at 1/2 potential? I am still waiting for someone who can defend this training system on more than just their feelings being hurt.

    So U have TRIED SSL training??? Sure doesnt sound it!! U have NO Clue what these machines are doing doing or how they work. So It makes it difficult to have any sort of intelligent conversation with you. They may look like your "regular" gym equipment you are used to BUT looks are deceiving. OH and By the way A RUGBY Team adopted the SSL method after all their players were being hurt. AFTER Using SSL system they didnt have ANY injuries!!

    well the movement of the muscle is slow and a slow range of the muscle stretchin not that the lift it self is slow the fast twitch mucle fibers are not being used the athletic muscles in the body it's one thing to lift 200 pounds but it's another to lift your own body or throw 200 maybe you guys should research the sports lab first before you criticize

  • @mpcc2022
    @mpcc2022 14 лет назад

    @pmilleroly27 because true plyometric according Yuri Verkhoshansky the father of plyometric the movement has to be executed in .010 a second and speed strength can only be trained with little external resistance, there are many different modality of strength, flexibility, and endurance. Olympic lift's aren't at all any type of the strength you need in sport's like track and ect. plus the constant tension, teach your body how to tense up and not relax, you don't want to play a sport tense

I love skeptics who won't even go out on a limb and actually use a method or product before the come up with there own opinion. Next Marv got most of his stuff from Yuri Verkhoshanksy the Russian researcher who invented plyometrics. Go read super training and then form an opinion. 2 ask Troy and he will tell you the story, but believe what you want.
