    Hi Brita, I love this quilt and how you "take the time" to explain it. You take what looks impossible and and explain it for every quilter to make. 👏👏👏 Thank you. I have one question. I would be making it for a king size bed. If I start with a bigger 4 patch (maybe 5x5 blocks or 6x6 blocks to start the 4 patch), will I loose the illusion? Again Thank you. Happy Quilting. ❤❤❤

    • @QuestioningQuilter
      @QuestioningQuilter  Месяц назад +1

      It's really hard to say. The larger the blocks, the further you have to be from the quilt to see the illusion. I am pretty sure that you could go up to a 4" starting block, but I just don't know about bigger blocks. Here is the chart of starting block and cutting instructions: questioningquilter.com/chart
      Sorry I couldn't be more help.

    Question & a statement….
    STATEMENT…I love your videos and how you show different possibilities of layouts and colors!! I check monthly for your videos and glad to see you post again!!❤️💙💛💚
    QUESTION… I’m guessing that if I wanted to make bigger blocks that to cut the four patch…that the measurement is 1/3 of the size of the four patch?
    (Example…finished 4 patch is 9”…cut 1.5 inches from center?)

    • @QuestioningQuilter
      @QuestioningQuilter  Месяц назад +2

      I am so happy that you like the quilts. I was getting one out a month, but I just couldn't keep it up. I am so glad that you waited for me.
      ANSWER: You are exactly right about the math. I have done all the work for you and have a chart with all the cutting sizes on my website:
      questioningquilter.com/chart/
      This shows the starting size of the squares, the size of the 4-Patch and how far from the center to cut, and the size of the final block. You can also use this chart for the Disappearing Hourglass and Disappearing Pinwheel quilts. In those cases, the first column is the size of the Half Square Triangle block.
      Note: If you decide to make this quilt with much bigger blocks, be aware that you have to make a lot of blocks and be a little distance away to get the optical illusion. If you make the blocks too big, you might not be able to get far enough away to see the illusion.

    THIS IS SO COOL! I have been wanting to make a red and white quilt for my son (school colors) and have lots of different reds in my stash. I know your quilt only used the same two colors, but I’m wondering if you would still get the optical illusion if you used a variety of the same color. In other words, if I used all the same white but different reds where you had blue would it still look as good?
    Thanks for posting this.

    • @QuestioningQuilter
      @QuestioningQuilter  Месяц назад +1

      I think that if all the reds were similar and randomly placed in the quilt it will look good. What I mean by similar is that they should all be between medium light and medium dark. I would avoid bright pinks or reds that go too far into the purple or orange range.
      I would love to see it when it is done.

      There is no reason that you couldn't press the seams open. I, personally, have better luck making the points line up when the seams are nested.
      Thanks so much for purchasing the pattern. Because of an issue with the coupon, I issued a $1 refund to your card for the amount of the coupon.

    I haven't printed the pattern yet. I ran out of ink. I would =like to find or purchase the fabric for this 2 color quilt. my math skills aren't very good but if you could be so kind and let me know how much color fabric and how much white fabric I need I would certainly appreciate it. Thank you.

    • @QuestioningQuilter
      @QuestioningQuilter  Месяц назад +2

      That would depend on how big of a quilt you want to make. You would need anywhere from 1 1/4" yards each to 4 1/8" yards each depending on the size. The pattern is a .pdf so you can just open it to read in your computer to see the fabric requirements for the different sized quilts.
      If you still are having difficulties, you can email me at: brita@questioningquilter.com.
