Hey guys, I made some major gaffs in this video:
1) In order to acquire Spencer Dinwiddie for their 2022 WCF run, the Mavericks actually traded Kristaps Porzingis to the Washington Wizards.
2) The Mavs did play the Thunder in this year's playoffs, I was hoping I'd imply that matching up to them in the future could be challenging but I also failed to do that.
Full disclosure I've been under the weather and the mix of antibiotics + day time cold meds makes me a little loopy. My apologies for the mistakes guys, I'll make sure to do better in the future

It’s the new NBA. These new players don’t care to play in LA like the generation before. The Lakers can’t coast on their name anymore if they want to compete they have to draft and trade smart. Not everything has to be a big splash. The top teams in the league all have one thing. Depth.

The point isn't them losing Dinwiddie, it's the fact that absolutely nobody, even him, wants to be part of the circus that these last 2-3 years of LeBron's career are going to be. Every player can see that the chances to succeed are low and it's def not going to be LeBron, his son or the buddy-coach he basically "hired" that's gonna take the blame for it.
@@YossGold Dinwiddie wanted to return, Prince wanted to return. There are simply no open roster spots. Dinwiddie was only brought in to sub for the injured Vincent. Prince's role is being absorbed by Knecht, Christie and a healthy Vando. Had Christie not had a player option, likely one of the two would've been re-signed.
If the Lakers end up trading away Vincent and/or DLo, not having Dinwiddie available to backfill could hurt. That may not be LA's plan anyway, as they could just move Reaves on ball.

Mavs fan here. It feels good to be on this end of the offseason. In the past the lakers would have gotten the FA targets and the Mavs would have nothing.
My advice and suggestion for the Lakers is similar to the Mavs this time last year. I felt Derrick Lively was a great pick and needed to play and contribute and he has. I’m going to say the exact same for Dalton Knect. If the 3 best players on the Lakers are LeBron, AD and Knect, I think the Lakers can challenge for a top 6 spot in the playoffs and can surprise. Knects shooting and offense is very good.
Come on bro the Lakers already have a full roster of 15 players under contract. Plus the Lakers are over the salary cap. Lebron actually took less money so the Lakers could avoid the hitting second-apron cap penalty which would have eliminated the Lakers Mid-Level exception, previous trade exceptions, prohibits trading 1st round picks 7 years into the future, freezing their 2032 1st rounder, plus other penalties. The NBA has issued these new penalties to the salary cap to create parity and restrict trading. This has nothing to do with players not wanting to play with Lebron.

Mavs fan here: I think the roster is much deeper, which will help in the regular season. But I'm still nervous about Luka, Ky, and Klay on the court at the same time defensively.

This such a great signing for the Mavs because of the fit and coaching the Mavs have compared to Darvin Ham. Real ones know how much he helped us get to the 2022 WCF. He can create shots and handle the rock, we can finally be comfortable resting Luka more and that lessens his load in the reg season thus preventing injuries like last season before going into the playoffs!

His only use would've been as a PG backfill should the Lakers trade away a PG like DLo and/or Vincent. Otherwise, he's competing for 3rd team with DHS once healthy.

That was last season in my opinion. He took that broken team without any depth and did flip it 180 degrees... Drafting Lively/O-Max while getting rid of Bertans, signing DJJ, Exum as free agents, trading for Gafford/Washington... he completely changed the team and its identity last season.
This year we just had to adress the view holes left. Wing shooting and wing depth. And Nico did that exceptionally well without using one of our view 1st round picks. Still getting so much right last summer was way more impressive in my opinion.

Definitely a good pickup for the Mavs. Going to be the third string PG (assuming Kyrie plays at the 2 and Hardy is the backup) and he is definitely going to improve the spacing on the court.
Lakers flipped over their team every offseason for the past 4 years. They've finally run out of cap space, valued picks, and just no longer being the free agent destination/culture.
As a Kings fan who adamantly HATES the LAL, nothing was sweeter than DeRozan choosing us over them!!! Times are changing, feels better than ever to be a small market fan. Say what you will about Adam Silver, but these new CBA rules with the 2nd apron are actually so good for the league in terms of fairness for all teams.
