Thank you for this! I do have a question though. If there is too much freon, could vacuuming out some to the proper amount or completely removing the freon, free up the condenser? Or is the damage already done and you need to replace both the compressor and clutch assembly? Of course I do not have the proper equipment to remove freon and will have to go to a shop for this. I just want to make sure before I do anything I get all the information I need before they try to convince/persuade me into more than I need. I will be doing the actual mechanical work myself and being a female, they always try crap on me. I just need the shop for freon purposes. Trust I can handle everything else. I'm a RUclips mechanic and you name it, I've done it. 😂 Except ac systems of course.
Thank you again for this video! This is exactly what I was looking for as I have replaced the clutch already and now I know why I failed! Either gapping or too much freon. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Now to inspect and wait for your reply for my next steps. New sub!❤

Vacuuming it to the right level is the starting point 1:4 or 1:5 is just okay. 30:200 if you are 100% sure you overcharged the system. Cos some factors can cause it to look like overcharging issues which I will discuss later.

@@drcoolautofix thank you for the reply! I called a mechanic and asked him how much it would cost for him to do it. He said based on my car and milage (2004 Mustang 3.8 139,000) he would only be able to do a complete flush, replace the condenser with drier, compressor, expansion valve, and charge. That would run me $1500-$1700. More than the car is actually worth! Is this good advice?
I cannot afford a car payment and have been working on this car for months already. I have replaced more than I would have wanted to buy myself. Everything from suspension to fuel to engine. I finally got it running 2 days ago. Went for my inspection and the AC was not cold. Stopped by the auto parts store and tried to charge it and that's when my condenser burned out on me. I live in Houston so the heat is unbearable. I was given this car so I am blessed to even have it! But I cannot drive it and wasn't able to pass inspection either. I'm desperate what options I have. Single mom and working graveyards while working on this car is killing me physically, mentally, and emotionally. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much!

OMG!🤔, okay, I will assist you however it's not gonna be free. This is not RUclips thing ma'am. Drop me an email @mrcoolauto@gmail.com I will need some information further concerning your car then I will walk you through the entire process so you can do it yourself okay.

what if the coil checks ok when cool but when hot it looses it's spec and want engage and only will till letting car cool for about 10 minutes then back to the same cycle over and over. should i look into getting new compressor or replacing the coil. compressor is only two month new. but only 30 day return.
