South Jersey here, super cold wet spring and super hot end of june and july with 0 real rain in over a month. Black Madeira 0 figs, Figo Preto full odd.
Im in Southern California on the coast, just north LA. I have gotten some good fruit off my desrt King not much other fruit ripening yet. Had some huge fruit too.
Do you root prune your trees, as well as pruning back the top growth? Could some of them maybe need a bit of rejuvenation? Hope some start ripening for you soon 🌿🙌
At least related to morning glory, a bit too big to be bindweed. Could be wild morning glory with mostly white to slight pink blooms. Get rid of them, they spread like crazy😂
Sorry to see your Black Madeira didn't make it through the winter, I'm in the UK, we've had really wet cold weather recently. The weed might be bindweed or morning glory, I've had similar weeds before, don't let them flower and seed it it'll get much worse, good luck
You have nice size trees surprise the die off of a big tree like that. Can you put them in the ground and just deal with the die back rather than loosen them all together?
@jackhart1883 I've had pretty poor results with in ground trees here in PA. I have a Hardy Chicago that does well planted against the house on the south side. Without the protection of the house, they don't do well.
If you search my channel, I did a video on making my mix. For the most part, figs are not picky. I like to use a mix of potting mix, pine bark, manure, and perlite for new trees. After root prooning, I primarily backfill with a blend of potting mix and manure.
I have heard some shade cloth can be usefull mid summer, for figs!

Im in PA as well with on tree in the ground; it seems slightly behind this year.
That is Morning Glory. I have a ton too.

Have the same chicken coop. Its nice just tough to clean out.
My wonderful wife tends to do it most of the time. It's a few years old at this point and showing its age. I'd like to build a new one this fall.
My figs are almost the same size as yours and I’m in central Florida.
@@davidwelty9763 hopefully both purs ripen nicely!

Hi Nick, think we will get a Pota de cavall progress update this season?
I'll try to remember in my next video
What soil mix do you use for your figs?
