Janey and Jason, your garden looks so beautiful!!! You should definitely be proud of all the projects that you've accomplish in just 1 year. Great job!!! We've also had a cooler winter this year here in South Florida and it's such a lovely change. Enjoy the weather in your cozy garden. 💕
Idea for the hose link; instead of replacing the wooden post, drill into it and put in a 1” pipe and mount your hose link on that. It’ll spin 360° without having to dig out the wooden post.
It’s so fun and exciting being able to follow the evolution of all areas of your garden! It’s easy to lose sight of how far it’s come, but when you do a side by side with your first new property tours it is literally mind blowing. I’m also really looking forward to seeing what you do with the center island next season!
The great structure that you’ve created in this garden is really shining through now that there are fewer plants - beautiful! Janey, the final shot of you standing in the secret garden framed by the arches is striking - good job Jason. What a pleasure to see your December garden this morning ❤
Hi Janey! Just hope you and Jason take some time to really appreciate all you have accomplished in the last year!! I’ve been in my property for two years and mostly all I see is what still needs to be done. I am always pleasantly surprised when someone comes over and remarks on how good things look!!! It reminds me to reflect on my successes and not always focus on the future plans! So let me pass that on to you….things look SO good at your place!!! And a tip: I have some olive trees that I have had in pots for 3 years and last year I planted a mix of succulents in the pot instead of annuals. What a success that turned out to be!! It still looks great and the water requirements for the olives and the succulents are the same, so they are all happy!!
Everything is looking so good! I’ve worked in my same garden for 38 years… seeing you build yours from scratch gives me so many exciting ideas for change! And on a sidenote, Jason sure is coming along. Wow good job!
Can you take us along for some of the fun Christmas activities with the girls and Jason you mentioned? I love those videos so much!!! Shopping, decorating, eating out, cooking, etc. In the Winter months it's so nice. ❤😊
Hi Janey 🌺. Wonderful tour at back garden .It looks stunning in December . Janey ypu have alot of dusty miller plants and you can devide them and plant them in two lines and between them you can plant Marigold or any flowering plant the view of them is going to be amazing . Have a woderful day .🎄🌻🎄🌻🎄
I like the videos where Jason is filming. It allows for more panoramic views of the gardens and so we can see overall perspective along with the plant in discussion.
Hi Janey and Jason, Great video! Everything looks awesome. You have done very well in your yard. The gardens are beautiful. First day of winter will be the 21st. After that we'll gain a minute a day of daylight. Yay! No more afternoon darkness or I should say evening. Here in the Oklahoma Panhandle it starts getting dark about 6:30. Ugh. I should be used to it. I lived in Alaska for 3 years. Long Winters 🥶 Thank you for sharing this video. Have a great rest of the day. Stay warm. Just the season for cocoa. Yum! ❄️ 😊 👋 🥶
Instead of pulling out the beautiful post for the Hoselink could you cut it down to the appropriate height and drill a hole large enough to set the metal pipe in? That way you keep the nice post, you don’t have to pull it and set a new post, and you still get the functionality. The diameters of the pipe may be too big but it’s a thought. You guys are awesome and I love that Jason is more involved now. ❤
I agree that the potting area needs to be shaded and waterproof. I have a 6x10 gazebo frame that I use a clear greenhouse tarp to protect it from rain. It did droop in the middle so i added 3 Costco plant trellises to hold it up. Just an inexpensive solution.
You have created a beautiful property! Everything is filling out, wonderful colors....I can't wait to see everything in spring!!! Congratulations on your accomplishments 😂
I love your garden lights. Jason, could you just drill a hole into the top of the Hoselink post and insert a pole for your Hoselink? You might need to cut down the post so it’s not too high. That would avoid the need to drill into unknown material below.
I’m new to your channel and am so happy I checked you out. I have to admit that your incredible greenhouse was what grabbed me and forced me to take a closer look. I’ll be watching your older videos and am happy to follow you from here out. Thanks for showing us around your beautiful gardens 💚🌱🌻💦☀️
Hi Janey❣️. Are you taking Monty with you to see Christmas lights? Our greatest joy is watching our dog enjoy the lights. For some reason, her favorite lights are the white ones. 😂
You should put clear roofing panels for the back of your office's roof. That way you still get day light and can see your tree from there. I love begonias because even when there is frost they still grow well. I think I might get several varieties for my garden because everything else is pretty dormant. I'm also getting into evergreens these days. I have two Muskgogee Crepe Myrtles and they like a lot of water and a lot of full sun. They are my favorite trees even though they are looking dormant now. I have seen some crepe myrtles that grow during this time that are a light lavender color.
Everything looks beautiful! What about using clear polycarbonate over your outdoor potting area, that way it stops the rain but allows light through? Also Garden Answer has a video showing how to use a small pipe for 360 use of a hose link, you might find helpful. Can you please provide info on your greenhouse heater, I love how it blends in and you don’t really notice it!
An idea that I saw someone do and then I did It for my hoselink is to use black gas pipe, it comes in various lengths, check the width and the pole of the hoselink will fit right inside the pole/pipe, also I did put a piece of plastic/cushion as to protect the bottom of the hoselink. I am so amazed by how much work you both have done in just a little time to make your space your own just fantastic 😅
Your place is looking really good, been enjoying the nice weather until this week we too have cooled down quite a bit, but as I was doing weed cleanup I saw about 7 bulbs I’ve had in ground a few years have popped up, hope the freeze nights once comes to us in Central Ca does not kill them 😮
Janey! I’m sooo excited for your butterfly ranunculus. I bought the Ariadne three years ago and this year I split ONE corm into 14 😮 they are absolutely gorgeous so excited for next year’s show. I’m in Southern California zone 10. By the way I love you guys and your garden and your journey thank you so much for sharing it all with us, seriously such an inspiration ♥️ 🌱
I'm surprised that you haven't planted any pansies for color in winter, mine do amazing in the cold even if it snows...love your jacket and boots, I have a puffer jacket in white with matching boots and get alot of compliments whenever wearing them.
That’s a good point. I have pansies everywhere and they last until the first heat wave. It gives me extra time before I have to plant summer annuals. I’m Northern CA zone 9 too.
...your potting area is just dreamy...the frame is there (the "hard" part is done); install a tin roof to match your other building, or raised seam metal roofing. You can work out there in the rain. You will love it. I just got an antique cast iron double-drain-board sink installed this summer behind my little greenhouse for a potting area and got a little roof installed -- I just LOVE it! You will too! 🤗🙌🫶 👩🏼🌾💚 =^..^= [MD, now 7a]
If you can’t dig in the hoselink area, remember the lady you visited that put it on a pipe in an umbrella stand on her concrete driveway. I thought that was genius.
Didn't you have some metal work tables in the greenhouse last year? Seeing the wood table in there reminded me about those and now I'm wondering where they went lol
HOSE LINK IDEA FOR JASON: Hey Jason, I was thinking about doing this in my yard. I have a umbrella stand (really heavy), I have half of the rod for the umbrella sitting in the stand. Wondering if the hoselink could just drop in the umbrella rod. I just don't know if the hole is big enough, but that solves a problem for me and I can move it if I ever need to.
@@lindacompton9706your typo/auto correct made me laugh 😊 If you tap on the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner you have the option to edit the original comment ( but maybe you knew that and left it so we could all smile this morning!)

Regarding the dead Breath of Heaven...I wonder if those two plants that died are getting reflected heat from the side of the greenhouse? You are likely correct about buried pavers too!
I have a pollinator suggestion for winter blooms! My African blue basil has been blooming non stop since i planted it this spring and it is so attractive to pollinators that it is literally constantly buzzing. I just looked and Green Acres sells it (not sure if it's available year round or just in the spring)! You can eat the Basil but the flowers are the best part, and it doesn't bolt, it just keeps growing! My plants were 4" when I got them and they're over 2 feet now. Check the shorts on my channel for a recent video of all the bees enjoying the flowers!
Merry Christmas, Jason and Janie! Thank you for another awesome year of watching you develop your fabulous new property! Jason, your camera work is fantastic, and your gardening knowledge has become so impressive. Janey, your ideas and your dreams are beyond fabulous. Every video is extraordinarily superb, and I adore your your teamwork so much! 2025 is going to be GLORIOUS❣️💚❤️💚
Remembering flower names.I hate to tell you, but that only gets worse as you get older lol is kind of aggravating when you know all the names, but you can't get 'em out of your brain. Haha

@@DigPlantWaterRepeat We've just had a beautiful snowfall so the garden looks enchanting 🥰
In the potting area, use clear corrugated PVC roof panels.
I agree, we've used them in the past, and were very pleased with that application.

Great idea, I bet he could even just use a flange after cutting the post down a ways.
These are great ideas! Thanks to everyone who had similar comments!
Yes looks so much better now that the other things are gone I love the look

Corrugated roofing .. it comes in a bronze color that is amazing.

All those leaves could be wonderful compost or just mulch on top of them. Lucky you to have them!

For your overhead frame, you could add smoke tinted corrugated plastic like what they put on pergolas.
Lol. Royal we. Ask Janey if “we” can bake some cookies 😂
Love the standard roses! It was worth the size differences in order to enjoy the blooms. I would have done the same 😊
Love love love your solar lights! So I copied you….it is a form of flattery….thanks!
Drill a hole in the top center of your 4x4 post and slide your hoselink in that

Corrugated fiberglass panels may work well over your seed sowing area. Would allow light and keep out rain.

You could put a tin roof on the top of the potting area.

My crepe myrtles in pots now for 2 and 3 years just letting mature and protecting from ground squirrels

Hi, the link is there. Hit more and more again. DIY potting bench videos. Part 1 & 2.
@lindasomerville4450 Oh,I see it now... I didn't recognize that those were links to the videos 😂

What about finding a way to attach fiberglass over the potting area.
Yes, the clear planks would b good for protection and light in !
You need a backhoe so you can dig up whatever was there before!!
No bathtubs in Singapore? 😁
❤❤❤❤❤
I was thinking the same thing. A cover for your work area. Do you think a thick fiber plastic cover can fit in the trimming.
That other breath of heaven plant could b the dog? We have our daughter’s dogs, girl and boy dog - the little male dog pees on everything!
Good morning from Kentucky! I'm just curious and was kind of worried do you all have to worry about the fires??
Think the fire is in Malibu, southern Cali. She is in northern Cali
Corrugated iron sheets for the roof of the potting area? Screwed down?
Polycarbonate roof panels would work well over your utility area…..
What is blooming in the black urn by the office door?
Do you know if there's any gas lines underneath?
What is behind the hot tub screen, it’s all covered up with plastic?

Jason is sooo cute! Does he have Hispanic heritage? Santos is a Spanish surname. Any way, I claim him as a distant cousin! Hola primo
I think Janey mentioned that Jason has Portuguese heritage.
