Ok I’m late to the video because I just bought this radio. I’m having issues when I program a repeater with the correct shift and TSQ code I get nothing through the speaker when I activate the repeater. I have my HT on the same repeater and can hear the repeater activation on my HT when I use the FTM-6000. I can see the repeater activate on the screen but don’t hear the repeater activation code or voice. What am I doing wrong?
Jason your voice speaks a lot of authority you can make yaesu come out with a new QRP radio up to 20 w atts and the built-in tuner radio with fusion Jason you can make it happen 👍
What would be the best mobile antenna for this radio? Plus, what would be the best base station antenna for this radio? I did not see an antenna recommended for this radio on their website.
good video, just made my decision on what radio I will NOT buy....ha. What the hell on the push and hold crap.....too much bull on that radio. Will dig out my old FT-5100.....
I swear IDK what the enginerrs were thinking. Making a detachable control head, but the mic plugs into the main body. So in addition to an extension cable for the faceplate/control head, you also need an extension for the mic cable. Really silly !
For under $200 (black Friday) this is an amazing 50W VHF/UHF radio for those who want a simple do it all analog. I would not pay $300 for it or anything close that that.
A little high in price for a analog radio but does have some nice features. Accy jack on the back is a big plus for a lot of people as is the Bluetooth upgrade option. Biggest problem and why I would never buy one is the horrible way they are doing memory's now. What happened to memory banks??? I loved it when Yaesu had memory banks. One of the best features of the FT-70D as a example. Grouping memory's together by band is horrible. Just give me one active receiver that I can scan memory channels from any band and lots of memory banks to set up numerous different scan list. Could have been a nice radio I would have bought if not for the huge fail on memory channels. Mike KC3OSD / WRCH578
I just installed the 6000 in a vehicle and I can say that it does have a memory bank, which I programmed. It is separate from the memory group. There are multiple memory programing options which I like. Scanning is a snap. It is a basic bare bone rig with few bells and whistles and for a mostly in-town mobile it meets my needs. Oh, and the separation kit is the same as the 891 which is a great little rig. de w0vet
My wife's FTM6000R will not receive 392.8**5 MHz. Anyone have a solution. I have tried everything... Seems to be able to receive all the other bands just fine
@@HamRadio2 Thanks... The Spec does indeed say that one should be able to receive between 174 and 400 Mhz... maybe its is a mistake on their brochure. I can dial to that frequency but never a signal. It is a local emergency channel that we monitor on the old 8900 yaesu.
This might sound crazy. But for some installations, the rig and/or control head needs to be placed vertical/portrait. The companies need to have the possibility of programing the control panal for that possibility.
@@EchoMeToo I bought this great device, I found that I have zero need of seeing the frequencies, actually it seems to be better as it increases the scanning speed I have heard.
Please yaesu come out with a new QR.P. rig you can run up to 20 w with a automatic tuner please please please are amateur community once this needs this please 😎

Most my radios are unlocked for gmrs and murs. You never know when there will be a emergency.
Do you have this FTM6000 radio unlocked for gmrs & murs?

What is the difference between the FTM6000 and the FTM 6000r
I think the R is for the US market only. E is for Europe.
Some info about RX AIR??? 8,33kHz???

@@christopherporter4561 Possibly a typo but it should say 136-174 and 400-480. That is what most radios will cover.

How to make it show frequencies progress while scanning? It scans in the background without any updates on the screen?
You can't.
