I have a zx from the 90ies as well, and is in perfect condition, no rust besides having a small injury still didn't get rust in there. Interior has minimal noises and nothing has broken. I had 2 other cars from the 90ies before, and a Nissan Almera used to get very dirty and gain rust everywhere.
I have a citroen zx -98 and it has been driven on salted roads every winter and only rust place was on the driver side skirt. Stones from the road had chewed the coating.
@@MaartenvanHeek well, they learned out of their Mistakes with the CX, although the 90s Cit's also rust, they don't do as bad as 90s Mercedes, and that red Paint also likes to fade fairly easily.

My first car was the AX GT. You wouldn't want to crash one but they are amazing fun. I have had many cars since, and own a modified FD3S now, and it is not as much fun as that AX was, truly.
Driven many things since, but the AX and Renault 5 still are high on the list for fun.. definitely don't want to crash anything french made, they fell apart easily enough by themselves
had a ax gt for my 3rd car and it would go off the clocks, with a mate following me matching my speed we recorded 130mph and it still had 1500rpm's left before red line but I backed out as it was hairy as fuck with wind sheer blowing me all over road every time I passed someone
+marlon You are so wrong regarding to "anything French made". In fact some of the safest cars are French, for example, the Laguna II was the first car in the World to achieve a 5 stars rating in Euroncap and the Modus was the first supermini to achieve the same.
An AX was my daily drive for 14 years, loved that car. Nothing ever fell off of it. The inset panels ahead of the dashboard crack with age, and the boot latch broke. That was it for breakage.
My first car was a Citroën AX. That slow piece of garbage was amazing! 1000cc carburator, stalled every time you didn't floor it and felt like it was falling apart at 120km/h (on a good day it would reach that sort of terrifying speeds). So much fun to drive though!
a 1000cc ax was my first car too although an injection one , so light ,not much power so flat out everywhere hahahah,i once reached 145 km/h and it was so scary, the steering wheel felt in my hands exactly like an industrial sander for the amount of vibrations it had, car was so wallowy and busted dampers meant it was reaching max and min suspension travel along all the slightest of humps i the road haha i will never forget my little ax :)
These "rubbish" cars were so much fun I sometimes prefer them to better stuff. My latest discovery is my bosses wife's old Yaris 1.3 with old cracked no name tyres. Will slide with all four at 30km/h on a wet corner, foot flat down everywhere, 2nd gear does over 100km/h with the S2000 style digital bar rev-counter ;)

I had a Peugeot 106XSI which had "only" 94 HP, at some 750 kilos. That car was already very agile. You could surprise a lot of BMW owners with that thing. The AX (the Peugeot 106 was based on the AX) is a bit lighter and this one has 50 more HP. Nice.
@@StelioKontos-wk9km Nope. Actually 2x Nope: the Peugeot 106 is based on the AX and the Saxo is based on the Peugeot 106. Here are the details: Citroen AX built starting 1986, first Facelift 1991 Peugeot 106 built starting 1991. The Peugeot's chassis is a modified and developed AX Cassis and uses AX drivetrains including the basic engines. The exterior shape is however unique, but generally not dissimilar to the AX facelift. After watching this video I decided to make a little search online and I fond yesterday a 1994 Citroen AX Spot running petrol with 195.000km, 4-manual transmission for 650€, in fair good condition. This old Citroen 1.4 is my first petrol car, I've always drove Diesel cars: Nissan Qasquai, Renaut Megane, Renault Kango, Opel Combo, and this 1994 Citroen with 45cv is without any question the funniest car I've ever drove. Is all about imperfection making him perfect, in my opinion. Doesn't have power assisted steering, the noise is just superb, the clutch is very very different for the best, doesn't brake instantly you have to inject like in the old cars, the needle of the km/h panel shakes a lot what makes it very funny to look how fast you go. Best driving experience so far! My next buy will be either a double-clutch car, a Saab 900 Turbo, Renault 4L or a BMW E30. Will never buy a Diesel car again, and that's a promise, someone once said: "Diesel is for agricultural tractors, cars run petrol." and he was right.
Awesome to hear :), I find it very cool to see that people take inspiration from weird french car, let alone buy one. I think you nailed it with the 'imperfections' , there's so much wrong with these flimsy cars that makes them great fun to drive even in stock form.
Almost a year since I wrote this comment and I keep driving my lady beetle like I call it, because is small, red and very unassuming which make it beautiful. I'm very lucky the car was bought in a perfect condition, the painting is not excellent and I'm considering paying 1200€ for a total paint job, even considering I paid 650€ for the car. Had a very funny incident, maybe two months ago. The trued is that my car is very famous among old people, they don't normally see one in such a good condition. I don't think I will ever get rid of him.
