Set in 1918, before fame struck "The Man of a Thousand Faces", THE CHANEY MURDER CASE is a journey through early Hollywood; the mad, merry world of the pioneering movie-makers, and their dreams, their hopes, their nightmares, delights and despair.

While on location on Catalina Island making a pirate picture, Lon Chaney befriends a young movie-struck extra. When the young man is found dead, and when his body never arrives at Universal Pictures or the LA morgue, Chaney takes it upon himself to find out what happened. From Catalina Island, to Universal City...to Los Angeles and ultimately San Francisco, the path Chaney travels is grotesque, bizarre, and deadly.
