The car did come with canvas doors but obviously had to be removed because the larger wheels got in the way and it would have been not much help anyway.
Well, at least he added a windscreen.

@@gankema1979 The only thing the Caterham struggled with was keeping the driver dry and happy. The Bentley was shockingly good and Clarkson definitely had the best time of the three, but it still had issues (the big one being the cooling issue). The concept behind the modded Caterham was proven to be the most sound. It just didn't consider the driver in the concept.

I dunno, he definitely had the car that I would have most wanted to be in if faced with the same challenge, but if you're talking about just the car, without consideration for the comfort of the driver, I think you have to give it to the Caterham.
Hammond had the potential to turn the RS into a full on rally car but instead he totally ruined it...
What about the ground clearance though?

It's not even your car, so what are you crying about? Also a rally car can't even make it through these road, that's also why rally races are never held in Madagascar.
Rally cars do not have that much ground clearance, the roads in Madagascar are too rough and bumpy. What make you think rally car works on all terrains?
Rally cars aren't designed like tank or ATVs.

The plot is always the same; James does something very underwhelming, Jeremy overdo it completely and then Richard seem to have outsmarted the others, but in the end it turns out that all three screwed up due to their foolishness.

Here's the thing about buried pirate treasure. You've been sailing round the oceans, risking your life fighting with people to take their money and treasure. When you get home, what would you want to do with all that money? Maybe it's just me, but given the choice between spending it in a three week orgy of food, alcohol and women, or burying it, I wouldn't be looking for my shovel!
You'd want to hide some or most of it so it didn't get stolen though? Similar with keeping a lottery win quiet, so you could live in peace.

Love both the tracked ford and the Bentley
The thing with Richards Ford is, the big benefit a tank or construction vehicle has of being completely unbothered by holes or trenches or bumps is the fact that the tracks are long and continuous. 4 small tracks have the disadvantages of a tread and the disadvantages of wheels combined. Plus the issue of ground pressure.

Got to love mattracks. Used to have a set on a landcruiser. 75mph np!
James should have had Richards tracks fitted as his back wheels (far less stress so won't break as easily) and just upped the front tires a bit more.
If they were driving on soft ground like snow or sand then Hammonds car would have been way more effective
