For Capcom, SFIII failed due to 1. Lack of old characters 2. Hit-or-miss new cast (most were described as "freaks" by SFII casuals). 3. Being much harder to play overall then SFII. In SFIII, projectiles were made near useless due to being slowed down and the parry system. And the parry system itself had a steep learning curve outside of parrying projectiles. SFIII is a deeper game, but it's harder for newbs to get into. SFIV fixed 1-3, and it's been a success.
i think hong man choi would be best to portray him in a Street Fighter Movie. When I was a kid, i didn't ever think someone could look and be as massive and tall as Sagat, nowadays you got a good number of seven footers who could play as Sagat, my how times have changed.
They eat their vegetables and Wheaties. I mean, have you looked at Yao Ming? o.O That is proof that any guy can get really tall with hard work and eating right.

SSF2T=Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo. NOT HD Remix. If you want a real turtlefest, play Super Turbo. SF4 Sagat is good. He's basically just like Old Sagat in SSF2T (though still not as strong). But he's not bannable by any means.

that whole timeline for the snk fighting games are more fucked up than capcom's ...lol...i mean ddnt they say the game's happen like 10-20 yrs apart?....and what i dnt understand it all these ppl were fighting along the way how are some of them still alive....ex. tung fu rue was killed in Fatal Fury....geese was killed in Garou.....and yet they have parts of the story....i really dnt get that one at all
i wish they wouldnt give the street fighters ages...snk had the right idea not to give anyone an age so it wouldnt give the illusion the fighters were just fighting other fighters and not aging....think about it...do you really wanna think bout ryu as a 40 something yr old guy still fighting? 0r the fact that sagat is in his late 50s

Popular at tourneys DOES NOT mean a profitable game. Tourny players aren't the majority gamer, nor are they the ones who made SFII profitable. The casuals are the ones who do that. For those casuals, SF3 was "too complex", "full of freaks", and lacking previous characters. Thanks to that, SF3 never made a good profit for Capcom. This is why SFIV didn't follow in 3's footsteps...

They did a new generation of fighters with Street Fighter 3: New Generation (and the later updates of Giant Impact and 3rd Strike). The result: it FAILED! SF3 was a great game that much gained a decent following, but alot of people hated the new cast, lack of previous characters, and additions like parrying. And with that, SF3 failed to make a profit. So no, Capcom won't try a failed idea again (at least for a long while).
The visual you have up there of Ryu and Sagat's stare down make this instrumental sound good all the more..

This rendition of a classic theme is just awesome, I love how they kept the energy and mystique of the ol' eye-patched Muay Thai giant.
