- What: The European Media Company Axel Springer just bought Politico for one billion dollars, which is just one more addition to its massive portfolio that includes other brands like Business Insider and Morning Brew.
Why: Any European media company that is making one of the largest media deals in recent history should be better understood. And the content out there detailing its rise is lacking.

About us:
We are a team of Europeans trying to create a European media platform.
Our motivation is relatively simple: there is a demand for European content that is presented in an attractive format without convoluted academic jargon, but the supply does not exist.
We think many Europeans are interested in learning about European geopolitical and business developments that maintain and strengthen Europe's position internationally.
Feedback is extremely useful, and it's incredibly important to understand that we are by no means the arbiters of truth: we can be wrong, and we will be wrong.
It's important for any platform that produces content to make the distinction between fake narratives and fake facts. We will always try to stay as close to the truth when presenting objective facts (e.g there are 27 EU commissioners not 10), but it is much more difficult to stay close to the truth when it comes to deciding important narratives.
Our team may decide that content on European business is particularly relevant, but for many others it isn't relevant at all. What we decide to publish can shift the attention to a certain set of facts that may be true but may misdirect people's attention to content that isn't particularly important for them.
We ask the viewers to be aware of this and realize that, just like them, we are imperfect and pushed by our own moral convictions and beliefs.

Btw, there are some relevant things that we skipped over in this video that people might be curious about. One, the CEO is not without controversy (www.tabletmag.com/sections/news/articles/doepfner-axel-springer-politico-james-kirchick ); two, one of largest shareholders is KKR - an American investment firm (www.axelspringer.com/en/investor-relations/voluntary-public-takeover-offer-by-kkr ); and three, we might have been a bit light on the content produced by De Bild and Die Welt (www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2015-12-08/how-germany-s-right-wing-tabloid-learned-to-love-refugees ).
Why aren't you more popular?
Slow and steady wins the race :)
@@hoogyoutube Damn straight, you're gonna do great buddy
He is on his way there, dont worry fam
@@Haykke Thanks man :)
Because he has no sex, violence, scandal, political hip shots or crude cartoons. He supplies content that requires thought and use of common sense, which as all his readers know is not that common.
In my current binge wath I can say I really prefer your longer style videos, as they are more informative. However you might not have the same amount of material for each subject which might explain the variabilty in the video lenght. Still bafledby the quality of the videos compared to the audience jut I am happy to see it growing, passing the 2000!
How can this chanel not be more popular?
Just got recommended this video randomly on the RUclips home page. Very glad I clicked.
Subbed.
i really don't like the impact Bild has on Germany, it's a shame that they are so popular.
i really dont like the impact so called "public broadcasting" has on Germany
"So called" because its not really controlled by the public but by law by politicians.
Btw.: the German "public broadcasting" is the largest public broadcasting in the world with a 9 Bio. anual budget. Companys like Axel Springer are weak, tiny bees with a weak, tiny influence compared to it.
"Santient robot", please don't lose your humor. Keep sprinkeling it like salt bae.
Also, very informative video.
Also also, didn't you go from about 300 something subscribers one hour ago to 450-something now? The RUclips gods are noticing you.
Fantastic video from a wonderful channel I've only discovered today. By now I've seen most videos and have really enjoyed the content, as a european it feels refreshing to see this kind of essay from a pan european perspective. Would really appreciate if you could add your script to the subtitles, as it helps me (and I think a lot of people) follow along. Wish you the best with this project
Just discovered your channel yesterday, and your content is incredible. Keep up the great work!
I've gone through your entire channel now, and the stuff is top tier. Hope you find success, cheers!
This is great content, you've got a subscriber out of me.
Thanks :). I really appreciate it, and there will be more to come.
As always, great content. Really glad I found your channel!
I can't fathom how you don't have 1 mil+ subscribers, your video quality is amazing!
I really liked the video but i felt it could have benefited from a couple more minutes of wrap-up/conclusion. With the video as-is it seems to me that the video ends a bit abruptly.
i really enjoy your content. thank you so much, subscribed
Thanks homeape :)
Extremely high quality For so low subs. Keep on going 👍🏻👍🏻. Thanks from 🇫🇮
If the future of sustainable publications is media companies with loyal followers, will free market competition further polarize populations dependent upon centralized narrative controllers?
Yes.
Just powered through a number of your videos, and I’m a fan. Your scripts are clean and conscise, the graphics keep getting better at emphasizing without feeling cliched, and the pacing and insights are on point.
Keep it up! 💛
High quality videos indeed. It is certainly concerning for a European company to have any control over American media.
Lol. No media harms the usa more than us based media
This channel is great!
Keep up the good work fam! But how do you animate/edit so good?
practice :)
If you keep growing like this they might soon buy you ;)
what do you use to make tour graphics? they are really good
Fantastic video!
Springer is known as the worst in Germany especially whit Bild as there are even sites about all the stuff they get wrong. Also funny thing are the bild girls, think they taken them by now at least on site 2 and not on the front page but every single of the most sold newspaper comes whit a nice tit pic. Just amazing journalism.
I been seeing morning brew sponsoring RUclipsrs left and right
((()))
It's sad but revealing to see who does their due diligence, and who will shill thinly disguised Judaic conglomerate news to their viewers for sponsorship money.
What do you mean he sent executives to learn in silicon valley? Would you mind expanding ?
Wow.. some media outlets drastically lost reputation in my personal view for being mentioned in this video.. 😂
keep on the grind, youll be big someday
Does Hoog have a team?
No
Politico Pro is why axel springer bought the whole firm.
Tbf if you read ANYTHING about something in Bild or Welt, you should definetly check if is true. Possibilities are high there isn't even a true core to the article
If you haven't yet, read the articles linked in the pinned comment. He has done some horrible stuff :/
Sure they are German but an American company KKR, has the highest stock percentage. "The rRch being controlled by the Richest."
kinda good that europe owns something american
DID YOU JUST ALL ZUCKY A SENTIENT ROBOT-
Before anyone here is talking bad about Springer (altough Im sure there are reasons for it) once may should get to know the German public broadcasting a bit better.
Because then Springer looks a like a holy angel.
Axel has only done what Elon and other visionaries have done, tried something new. I wish him well.
Yes, Axel done what Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos and other US business magnets have done. And that something is - horizontal integration and also acting ruthless. As for trying something new, Facebook, Google and Intel can claim that. Not Elon Musk or Axel's CEO.
Mathias döpfner, owner of Axel springer is literally the german equivalent to Rupert Murdoch
They all are parasitic wastes of air
