Great video, very detailed as usual. Could you also incorporate bleeding the clutch the proper way in to one of your videos, as it seems to be a challenge on these cars.
Great videos! Are you going to do av video of when you put the motor back in the car? That would have been a great help for me as i'm going to pull my engine for som upgrade.
What's up Justin, would you happen to know the height the transmission ( the actual housing)? I'm thinking about doing my clutch, but on jack stands, and I trying to get an idea of how much clearance I need to lower the transmission and move it aside. Thanks
hi i did my clutch and slave cylinder on my b5 s4 and when i try and bleed the clutch my clutch pedal gets really hard and only goes half way down what would be the problem? im puzzled
the sac mechanism on my car wasn’t loaded when they put mine on how do I reload it? Do I have to send it back to south bend or is it possible to do it your self?
Hey I just pulled the engine and did the timing belt now I'm on to the new clutch. Anyway my friend told me I need to get my DMFW resurfaced. Is this true no machine shop around me can do it. I'm putting a rs4 clutch in and it's on a stock tune do I need to get a new flywheel or should I just get as much of the old clutch material off as possible and reinstall. Any answers would be appreciated. Thank you.
Palmer9297 You need to try and find a machine shop to resurface the unit. If there are none in our area, you can ship it out. I think jhm, or one of the major shops that work on B5 S4's have an exchange program.
I put that book together from all the years of working on the B5 S4 line. It is my handbook when I need to recall something. My mind is not what it used to be.
Justin Ballou Mhm ... That's very cool and I don't want to just ask that from you. Do you have any idea though, if there is something like this on the internet for the b7 A4?
heya Justin. What flywheel and clutch setup are you running in your imola s4? My clutch is finally starting to slip and need to order parts soon. Would love to get some feedback from you on your experiences with different setups. I plan to do RS6R JHM turbos on stock block. Right now Im looking at Stage3 or Stage3+ setups but hate the idea of using lightweight flywheels. Look forward to hearing back from you.
Southbend Stage 3 with their steel flywheel. You can request modifications to the clutch set-up to what your needs are. I have a different disc and different clamping force on my set-up.
Dante Johnson To answer a 3 year old question; No You don’t need to, The starter is retracted and makes no contact with the flywheel. The moment you turn the key to crank the engine, the starter wil align It self with the flywheel
Pull the engine and transmission together. I have done it both ways and find pulling the engine and transmission together is easier, plus it allows you to fix other things "while you are in there."
I currently have my motor pulled. It has been sitting for a couple months, I need to tear it down and send it back out to have the internals gone through. When it is time to install, I will debate about if I want to make an install video. Some things will not be shown as they are not the norm....like my fuel system.
Would you be interested in doing a motor rebuild series? i want to swap my a4 but if i do it i want to go all out. Also just joined your channel shout out from MN Euro Underground. Check us and my build out on the facebook page.
yet another great video for the b5s4 lovers

Awesome video. I am getting ready to do a clutch and flywheel for my first time ever this weekend on a B6 with the 3.0.
Just bought my 2nd b5 a4 1.8t would be awesome to get some diy videos on those as well. Subscribed cool vids
Thank you ! I have a B6 still? this walkthrough helps !
Where i can get the book you have? It seems useful.
What's your floor covering and are you still liking it? Thanks for the video.
Great video Justin ! Thanks
Could you post close up picture of gearbox bolts location as I can’t make out the numbers/positions?
Cheers

Hey is there any way to install inlet pipes on the s4 with just the front end off thanks

is your lift bolted down to the ground??? I see it stored away in the last couple vids I think?!?!

When u do a clutch do u usually pull the whole motor? Can u do it with the engine in as easy?
Hey man. I have a question. So my oil in my 2.7t smells like gas. What are possible causes of this? How can I fix it? Thank you.
Does anyone know where I can get the LCD screen on a 01 s4 fixed
Great video! What motor mounts do you recommend on a stage 3? Are those sterns on there?
would be even more awesome if you can start making vids of b5 a4's
They are really easy to work on compared to the S4s. Especially since you have so much room lol.
Awesome videos. What torque wrench do you use?

I'm interested in that manual. Where did you got that from and do you have got a pdf file for it or something?

are you still running the 2 piece OEM driveshaft or did you convert to single?
Hmm, so THAT's what color an oil pan is supposed to be!
Please help me change my clutch on my s4 ):
Do you have to align the starter with the flywheel splines?
Dante Johnson To answer a 3 year old question; No You don’t need to, The starter is retracted and makes no contact with the flywheel. The moment you turn the key to crank the engine, the starter wil align It self with the flywheel
Is it easier on a b5 s4 to take the engine and Gearbox out to change the clutch rather then just the Gearbox?

Justin Ballou How many hours does it take on average to pull out the Motor and Transmission?
Thankyou so much for the vid
nice job
Please Please PLeAsE make a 2.7t motor install video. I will start a GoFundMe for it

Good stuff!
I found your name through a subforum of some sort. If you're in the ie and can do some coding on a Volkswagen. Let me know ☺️
Did you ever find anyone to do coding
