Yet another excellent review! I'm just amazed at how you can get so much useful and concise information packed into 3 short minutes. I always start here (if available) when first learning about a game. Thanks! ☺️

Cheers, that's the plan. I always try to work back from whats the most important stuff to the least important, and the least important stuff gets cut out :)

Suburbia is my favorite of the Ted Alspach tile laying games. Because its the most straight forward, and the simple math involved is completely not a problem for me. I enjoy quick calculations. It hedges out Castles, because i prefer the simple buying track to the more complex idea in Castles, even though castles has some more interesting visuals and decisions in how to place things.
Still, all 3 of those game i've covered are pretty damned good. Suburbia is just my fav of the 3.

It’s a shame it doesn’t look prettier. I understand that you felt that the simple art style made the tiles easier to read, but it makes for a visually unattractive game. I like my games to have a bit of wow factor when they are on the table. Still I like the theme, looks kinda like Sim City.

The look of the game made me not buy it for a long time, it just looked "dull". I'm glad I ended up doing so because the game within, makes the art style work for me.
If the art was dramatic or busy, i could see the game being a real pain to play.
I wonder if a middle ground could be found for a 2nd edition. Slightly easier on the eyes, while retaining easy to read info.

3 Minute Board Games - how similar to Castles is it? I recently got Castles which my daughter loves but I felt was kinda meh.
If there was a 2nd ed that looked amazing I’d seriously consider as like I said I’m easily seduced by good looking game. I’m basically a very shallow person.

Ha! We like what we like, no shame in that.
Very similar. If castles really didn't click for you at all, there is a good chance suburbia won't either. To use an odd comparison, they are like "predator" and "total recall", quite different, but if you don't like action movies and arnie, you won't like either of them.

3 Minute Board Games - people don’t like Arnie? Whaaat!
