Which chain restaurant do you think has the best lasagna?

  • @rvboyett

Maggiano's Lasagna has never disappointed me. Add to that the ability to buy a 2nd, take home, meal for a reasonable price and Maggiano's is still my favorite Italian chain.

Maggiano's deserves that top spot, it is glorious. My best tip for ordering Lasagna is to get it around 5 or 6p.m. because them lunch servings may get dry as it could be the leftovers from the day before. Still tasty though. I love Mashed Channel!

LOVE The Old Spaghetti Factory's lasagna! I love going there. It's one of the few chain restaurants where I will actually order spaghetti (usually combo of meat sauce and pasta with Mizithra cheese). Plus they are one of the few sit-down casual restaurants that still includes soup or salad with your meal. AND in many cases, dessert.

The best Italian food, including lasagna is at Pomodoro Ristorante Italiano in San Diego near Shelter Island. Everyone who works there is Italian. Authentic family recipes. We drive from LA. Always order extra food to go to bring home.

I am an American and don't have a drop of Italian blood in me. I created sauce , sausage, and dough recipes based upon childhood memories of my departed Lithuanian grandfather's pizzas, which were absolutely divine, loved by all who tasted them. I went on to own a pizzeria. One of my best customers was a lady who was born and raised in Italy. I did not use "fresh" mozzarella or whole basil leaves. Still, she swore that she never had a pizza anywhere in Italy as good as mine. The point is, a dish doesn't have to be made exactly like the original (a no-ricotta lasagna, e.g.) to be good -- and maybe superior. Rarely in life is the first attempt at anything the best. It is only natural to try to improve on the original. Perhaps bechamel is better than ricotta for some people, but not for others. Different people have different tastes. Sample what you can and enjoy it when you find something that you really like! For what it's worth, I have eaten at Maggiano's a few times. I never tried their lasagna, but enjoyed everything I have eaten there (at two different locations in Chicago suburbs). Everyone I dined with there, friends and family, enjoyed the fare. But then again, some people will have different opinions. Food is more art than science, so there will be differences of opinion.

We have an authentic Italian restaurant here, owned by Italians, called Lubranos. They make the best true Italian lasagna, made with bechamel sauce and homemade tomato sauce. Delicious!

With the exception of OG, where I live, we don’t have any of those restaurants. There used to be a Buco di Pep about 30 mins drive away but last time visiting in that area, I don’t see it.
I’m thinking of doing my own. Think in Naples, they used mozzarella di bufalo. The fancier or speciality of the cheese, the higher price it will be. I may have to mix mozz with something else but haven’t thought what yet.

@@jawitten4 I personally don't like the Stouffers meat lasagna 'cause the Hamburg seem overcooked and slightly hard and the sauce
and cheese isn't that tasty like the lasagna I get from my local ITALIAN restaurant. I'm not saying You're wrong by buying it. I'm just
saying that I perfer the restaurant one, higher price and all.

Living in Italy, I can confirm ZERO Ricotta cheese is used in lasagna. Italians’s use a white béchamel layered with pomodoro sauces. 🍅

Made lasagna the other night with bechamel, tomato sauce, mozzarella and parmesan cheeses between ready to cook lasagna noodles. I had never used bechamel before. I didn't have ricotta cheese and the cottage cheese was out of date. I found the recipe on the Internet and will never use ricotta or cottage cheese again. It was delicious!

St. Louis, Mo has a famous Italian area known as "The Hill", many Italian immigrants took up residence in this area over the past 2 centuries. Many started restaurants and delis. I concur many authentic Italian dishes call for bechamel. Some recipes call for bechamel and full fat cottage cheese.

Best lasagne should be in your own kitchen, not hard to make, cost much less too. If you have to eat out find a locally owned place, keep your money in your community not in the offshore banks of corporations.

The video gets real old because EVERY review has GOOD AND BAD reviews. That's LIFE! You will NEVER please everyone when it comes to restaurant reviews. Most people who are satisfied with any restaurant will not leave a review & MOST reviews are from unsatisfied customers. They all looked appetizing to me & I won't let negative reviews deter me from trying a restaurant. People have different tastes & expectations. Thank you.

Buy a Stouffer's classic meat & cheese lasagna, bake it according to the package directions, mix a few drinks, have a party, wait 'til it's done and cooled slightly, and save yourself a hondo. So much better👍 (Might want some garlic bread to go along with that)
