      hi there
      what problem you had to have replaced the generator?
      not heating water?
      burned a red light in a triangle with an exclamation mark?
      thank you

    Replace Gaskets:
    Before you replace the outside panels, you can test- run the unit and check for leaks. Don't touch any electricals with unit plugged in!
    this way you can check for leaks and replace gaskets where needed.

    I replaced the delonghi generator assembly and the pump and my slow espresso problem was solved! Espresso was flowing very slow and eventually only dripping out even on course ean grinder setting. For $150, I saved an expensive send off of the machine and probably a $500 repair. Not sure if I needed a new pump or not because the pump alone did not fix the problem. There was something wrong inside the generator assembly. I think that the pump replacement was a good idea because it was only a $25 part and new pump seems stronger.

    Hello Mark and fellow DeLonghi Magnifica owners,
    Mark your video how to replace the tap is very clear, precise and easy to follow. It helped me greatly to resolve one problem.
    Now I have to replace the micro switch I purchased from the store. Could you point where the micro switch is located.
    I have to replace it because the machine constantly shows "empty grounds container" when actually there are no coffee grounds in the container.
    Thank you for your help

      They have several models of the magnifica. It would be helpful to know your model number for sure. I'm not aware of the microswitch that senses the grounds. The computer board monitors the amp used by the grinder. Less amps usually
      means it's empty while more amp usage signals the board there are coffee beans in the grinder.

      Thank you Mark. The model number isDeLonghi Magnifica EAM3400. The machine is requesting to remove/empty the used grounds container. After I clean the used grounds container and installed it back, the display is still asking "empty the ground container". I called a certified DeLonghi repair technician, who is far from my city, and he stated that I need to replace the spring microswitch. This spring microswitch is on Page C Diagram, Fig# 43, and also on Page D Diagram, Fig# 50. I was hoping you could direct me where to locate this switch on the machine.
      Thank you.
      Kosta

    What problems does installing a new generator solve?

      +LuAnn Gallagher
      What problems does installing a new generator solve:
      Solved this problem for me:
      Symptoms:
      power off
      power on
      Displays Warming up for long time, like 5 minutes
      then: general Alarm
      Problem:
      either of two heaters is dead, or temperature sensor or overheat sensor is bad.
      Test both heaters with Ohmmeter: both should be around 50 Ohms.
      If you have an Open (large resistance) the heater is bad: replace; in my case it was the Generator)
      If both heaters are OK, then check the temperature sensors.
      Note: there are also other reasons for General Alarm; but this is a common problem)

    hi,
    How can I tell if it is the boiler that is faulty?
    My machine indicated it needed descaling, but before I could do so, it stopped working. It turns on, the lights flash for a while and then finally the error light remains permanently lit. The boiler does not get hot. Turning the knob at the front pumps water out of the steam spout, but it is cold.
    I have checked the voltage across the terminals on the side of the boiler unit and it IS getting power. When I disconnect the grey leads though, a continuity check across the terminals fails. So I suspect it IS the boiler that has failed, but if possible I'd like to be sure before splashing out on a new heater.
    Thanks for any input/suggestions.

    Great confidence-boosting video.
    But I have a different problem. I replaced the motor on my EAM 3000.B and also the circuit board which had burned up some components when the motor failed. When I completed the replacements, I switched on, forgetting to install the infuser. The infuser carriage went right up as high as it would go and jammed. There was a crunching sound, and the machine switched itself off. With great difficulty, I unjammed the carriage and installed the infuser. Now all that happens is that the two green lights and the warning triangle light all stay on permanently. This combination does not appear in the list of warning light combinations in the guide book. Could switching on without the infuser have caused damage to the circuit board? Also, where is the sensor for indicating whether the infuser is in position or not.
    I would be very grateful for any light on this!

    I have been having a "dripping" water leak from my steam nozzle for a while. I finally got the cover off and I am doing a visual inspection and I don't see any damage. Before I get into this a bit more, any ideas what could be causing it? thx!

    If the coffee disks are not shaped properly and fall apart. Is that a symptom of a bad generator?

    • @puggster
      @puggster 10 лет назад +1

      Not really, Excessive leaking or very poor coffee quality is most likely a problem,, My spent coffee disks fall apart and my machine is new, This is usually caused by oily fresh beans or grind settings, Too coarse and the spent disks crumble with ease, Fine grind usually holds well and forms a disk in the waste bin, However the shape or consistency of the spent disks is not important, The coffee taste is. If your coffee is good then the likelihood your machine is ok!

    Hi Mark
    Would this fix the alarm light issue?
    I've cleaned everything as per instruction manual, I still don't have movement with the red alarm light or any working noises.
    I'm also unable to locate any ideas of how to or what needs fixing on Google
    Many thanks in Advance.

    Hello Mark,
    I just replaced the generator on my Delonghi Magnifica ESAM 3300 because it was leaking. The generator is working properly; however, when I turn on the machine the "green lights" for single/double cup "stay in the blinking mode" and "no water is pushed through the machine while warming up and it never becomes ready to use? Why is it stuck in the blinking mode and not starting up as before??? Also why is no water being pushed through the machine during the warmup stage? FYI, if I turn OFF the machine and re-start right away, it goes right into use mode - yet still no water is flushed through the machine? Why is this happening??? How can I fix it??? It is annoying having to re-start the machine twice to get it to operate? Please help. Thank you, Enrique

    Thank you for this very helpful tutorial! One thing I stumbled upon during reinstalling the generator: the lower of the two heavy wires in my machine has two options to be attached to... There is a second connector at F2, where already a cable is put and one at F1 on the console. Could anyone tell me which one is to use? Thanx!

      Good question. Our tech said he could better answer if he could see a photo of the your Board. We were going to order one to take a look at but they are showing No Longer Available.

      Thank you for answering, I figured out, the cable was to be put in the connector at F1. But I'm gonna see if I have the time to open the machine again in order to take a photo since it is closed again and working (thanks to your tutorial) :)

    What if your machine stops mid shot and shows that it is low on water when it is not? Or if the machine ignores the water setting and brews much more than it supposed to?

    • @jessairaudi3001
      @jessairaudi3001 9 лет назад

      I have the same problem. No matter where I set the quantity of water and coffee strength dials, the machine brews only about a half-cup and the water light comes on. Per the instruction manual, I run water through the steam wand, and though the water light goes out, more often than not, and less and less, the machine brews only a partial cup of coffee. Though I clean the infuser and descale as required, same problem. Anybody have any answers, or a reliable and honest repair shot near Austin, Texas I could consult?

      and even when the machine's not brewing, for instance, on descaling, or getting hot water. ..... Anybody?

    • @NelloForlini
      @NelloForlini 9 лет назад

      Jess Airaudi Hi, I've found a partial fix. Machine keeps stopping the water flow from time to time but not as frequent as when it started. What I did was to attach a magnet to the sensor that reads water container capacity. I also removed magnet from the container as well. Be aware that with this partial solution, if machine runs out of water for real, pump is going to pump air instead, so you need to stop operation, add water, and run water from the wand until the pump starts pumping water again. As I said, it has fixed my problem but still from time to time the problem arise. In that case I just clean the whole machine and let water run from wand until is fully operational again. Hope it helps.

    Please help: after installing the new generator on my EAM3200, and turning it on, the two green lights stay blinking. The generator is working fine because it does heat up. Now, is it the temperature sensor or the circuit board that has gone bad? The rinsing never gets done.

    • @FIXTechGuides
      @FIXTechGuides  6 лет назад

      Thank you for your question. According to the EAM3200 manual, flashing green lights indicate that the machine is still heating.
      However, if you have recently used the milk frother, you will need to press the steam function button to deactivate the steam function. Sometimes when the steam function has been used, the machine will be too hot to make espresso or coffee, and in this case you can simply wait about 10 minutes for the machine to cool down, and then the lights will return to solid. Another possibility is that when you opened up the machine to replace the generator, you may have left the brewing system out of the machine. To fix this, Leave the service door closed and the brewing system out of the machine. Press the 1-cup and 2-cup buttons simultaneously until the four lights go off. Only when all of the four lights are off can the service door be re-opened and the brewing system replaced. If these solutions don't work, you may need to replace the temperature sensor or the circuit board. I would recommend looking in the troubleshooting section of your machine's manual, it is quite helpful.

    These things are really horrible quality compared to Saeco brand espresso makers... Seems like they are designed like this so they fail after a few years and you are forced to buy replacement parts or a new unit.

      they are hardly worth fixing unless you like a challenge.
      I prefer the Capsule version: much less complex.
