I have been looking for this video of Bobby Darin’s Splish Splash performance ever since I got on RUclips. This is the first time I’ve seen it. I even wondered if it existed. I saw this live that Saturday night. I loved that Bobby Darin was in a bathtub on stage. But of course, I loved Bobby Darin. THANK YOU!!!
@@rickrick5041 I know, and that’s the only one I ever could find, but this was the one I looked for for years. This is the one I watched on TV when I was 12. It was so funny seeing a singer in a bathtub!
The original performance without the bathtub act is on YT now. That's the version "Beyond the Sea" directors tried to replicate, including that smile at the camera. They mixed it with his performance of Beyond the Sea on Beachnut Hour (later AB) where he danced with the two bobbysoxers
He could have passed for one of the audience's farther, you can see why after a few more pop hits he jumped over to old time finger clicking jazz standard's. Funny when you consider this was the kind of music that blew all that old stuff away, then he tries to bring it back into fashion again.
That's because the program was sponsored by a chewing gum brand, so they gave all the kids gum to chew during the program for free due to the sponsorship.
Like the Amish pretend it's 1865, I'd rather live in a community that pretends it's 1959. Nerdy glasses, greasy hair, nobody's fat, smiles were the generally accepted nod that you were o.k..ahhh, they only troubles were bad covers of rock tunes by Pat Boone.
Vintage RocknRoll laying the groundwork for Back in the USSR; Bad Moon Rising; Over the Hills & Far Away; Pink Houses; and just a little bit of Kodachrome.
I saw this live on television. It’s crazy how so much time has passed.

This hit "Splish Splash" in 1958 was better than the hit "Dream Lover" a year later which of course was the late Muhammad Ali's favourite song.
