    Kudos to you for not using any background music over your narration. You're getting a sub from me just because of that; it so nice to listen to information without annoying music. Let's face it, music belongs in a dance video or a music video, not an narration video.

    Contractor who was working on my bathroom remodel just tore the Rockwool up into small pieces and stuffed it in haphazardly. This was after I had already done half of the job myself, properly, cutting and fitting each piece with a knife. I even offered to finish once they were ready, but got told, "that's okay, we got this." And to top it off they used my insulation life to cut drywall.

    Really great details and work on the rock woll. Interesting that such a beautiful home is going on what looks like a busy road with a double yellow line. Yikes, tons of traffic.

    When I built our house last year, We insulated all of our interior walls of bedrooms and bathrooms, and between floors with fiberglass batts. Made a HUGE difference compared to our old house that had no insulation between rooms.

    In the world of sound isolation there’s a discussion around whether insulation in a shared wall reduces or increases sound transmission. The argument is the insulation could act as a bridge for sound. I’m on the side of less transmission.
    There’s also the argument that it is not very effective given that the studs directly transmit sound between the wall surfaces. A staggered stud wall or two separate stud walls is more effective.

    Looking awesome! Have you guys ever considered venting your bathrooms with extra ERV exhaust? I recently learned that this is possible, and that there is benefit in not needing make-up air for the CFM out from the fans, but I haven't seen the detail yet

    I'm really interested in the siga vapor barrier and how the details work. I live in northern Canada so the insulation / thermal bridge details/ vapor barrier details are always of the most importance to us here.
    The stud packs should be caulked on the inside face of the wall and or taped. Before install of the vapor barrier in my opinion

    Man, that progress is amazing. I like the arched doorway detail that you ended up going with upstairs where the roof angle meets. I was curious how that was going to look. Still planning on trimming that as well?
    Also any updates on the passive project in RI? Or is there an opportunity to go back to some of the other finished projects to see how they're looking now? I loved seeing that first home care video.

    With Rockwool being so dense, how do you fish wires if you want to add something in the future? Do you guys address that potential at all? Is it possible to fish through it or do you have to add conduits up front?

    Rockwool is harder to install poorly, yes. Covered by board, i wouldn't expect much for mid freq sounds vs fiberglass. Bottom line is managing noise - no silver bullet exists and really requires many technics to really make a difference

      Why?

    • @ColeSpolaric
      @ColeSpolaric Год назад +2

      @@xephael3485 even in a ventilated attic temperatures reach 120 degrees. One purpose of ventilating is to keep the shingles from getting too hot and warping and buckling and what not. I feel like composite should be ok, but I'm not sure.
