100%, such a great words. I could not describe this feeling, it is so easy to play this game. Despite it has so many copy paste locations it never bothers you
Do you want to know a sad thing? Hawkes story was probably one of the saddest I've seen from a videogame (The Walking Dead Telltale Game is the number one, but DA2 was a close 2nd in my opinion) Hawke and his/her family start off running from the Blight that has destroyed their family home and has nowhere else to run, during the escape his/her brother/sister is killed. The rest manage to get away in hope to get a second chance at a new life, it was rough but they pulled through. But after that, every single good thing that ever happens is always replaced with something twice as bad. Hawke gets pushed around, beaten, betrayed, and everything that he/she has worked for gets taken piece by piece till all that Hawke has left is nothing. Yet he always has hope to make a change, not matter how hard the struggle is.
+Green Archer (GreenArcher97) This... DA2 shows us a story not of a "chosen hero", but of a simple man/woman, who, in order to survive and keep his/her family safe, gets into a whirlpool of cruel events. They are not some epic world saving quests like in Inquisition or Origins, rather more casual, earthly tasks, fit for a simple band of mercenaries that Hawke and company actually are. Also you can feel that there are many things happening behind the scenes, behind the eyes of Hawke - political conflicts, their friends' personal lives, various crimes and small disasters... Just like in real life, where the world does not revolve around you. In the end you are left with consequences not only of your choices, but also of those invisible and unchangeable outcomes of life itself. I think this makes DA2 more relatable to the player than other two, and probably that's why it strikes so hard in the feelings...
+Justina Žutautaitė One year on from my original post, and I'm still glad and proud that people can still appreciate this game as much as I have and still do. It's a game I have gladly played multiple times, exploring different paths and conversation arcs I didn't choose on previous playthroughs and using different tactics with different companions. It's sad how this game didn't get the praise i think it rightfully deserved, sure it wasn't as 'unique' as Origins or Inquisition as you stated, but it shouldn't be shoved into its big brothers shadow just because of it, surprisingly I enjoyed this a lot more than that of Origins and Inquisition because the character of Hawke is the one that I can relate to the most as understand the struggles Hawke goes through such as doing everything possible to keep the peace to prevent civil war to break out into a world of peace. Hawke seems to have a much bigger humanity aspect than the Grey Warden and the Inquisitor, from my personal perspective.
+Justina Žutautaitė Any possible way to get in contact? :/ tried to through this but requires your email, is it possible to DM it to me through Twitter? If so, please let me know and I'll tell you what my name is on it
Sorry for belated response, english is not my native language, so I am trying to figure out what you mean by this "DM", but I would be glad to get in contact with you:)
the game locations can get repetitive yes, but the game itself with the story and characters decisions and great mechanics, is a wonderful game, delivers to the franchise. don't knot why people don't like the game, but then again most people like COD kind of games. amazing story! Mass Effect and Dragon Age are the reason i love games.
+tokyopp hater are always lauder then happy folks...while most my friends agree that dragon origins was better they still enjoyed dragon age 2 as me.... thanks bioware for doing best games(by my opinion)...cross finger andromeda be damn good as ME1-2:)
People just want to save the world in games apparantly. Not many people apreciate what a master piece of a story this game had because it was overshadowed by all the flaws. Instead of the usual "Hero" character it had an ambitious character who tried their best to save the people they loved but couldn't possibly stop. Hawke could only watch while stuff went down around them. I really really love this story more than I can put into words.
Agreed! I adore 2 more than Inquisition, coz of Fenris, Varric, Aveline. They've sort of accompanied me through the roughest patches of home life. On days when i felt so depressed dw to face reality, fantasizing them as my friends got me through
While I absolutely adore Dragon Age 2 as the game that introduced me to the franchise and while I will always hold the characters of DA2 closer to my heart than any other games characters, I do understand some of the more legitimate complaints. The game's development was rushed, and they missed a lot of opportunities with it for more/more in depth character development with characters like Fenris and Sebastian. A lot of people hated that Fenris was just an angsty porcupine that hated mages and was meant to act as the polar opposite of Anders with very little else going on on the surface. People hated how Sebastian's whole identity was being a servant of the Chantry. And not all people felt this way, but those were some examples of other complaints beyond the repetitive maps. One small thing that irked me, for example, was that if I chose to spec as a blood mage, no one gave a shit. No one. When several companions would make an outcry when any other character is revealed to be a blood mage.
DA 2 was such a good game. It was one of the very few that gave me the "what do I do now?" feeling at the end. It was hard watching Hawke just leave like the way he did supporting the mages, not a word but his eyes said everything; he didn't want to be followed except by his friends. Ik inquisition brings him back but that game doesn't have the interesting vibe like the last two games had.
Maru'sArcade He appears after you move to the main Inquisition keep (sorry, Ik it has a name but it’s been a while) it’s after you meet Allistair or Stroud depending on your choices in your previous games. EDIT: I finished Inquisition a little later after I posted the original comment, the game gets a whole lot better n I really enjoyed it
I finally finished dragon age 2 yesterday and I got the very same feeling And then this played just when I was getting seriously depressed, it's such a good game that way but it also had an anticlimactic ending just hand over the book to leliana and then the game comes to a close What happened between then and inquisition with everyone, when hawke is talked to about it he/she doesn't mention much, aside from they went their separate ways, and Merrill went back to Kirkwall to help whoever was left from the war between the mages and templars
Dragon Age and Mass Effect will always hold a special place in my heart. Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2 especially. I wasn't ready to let go of the characters I grew to love in DA2... and ME2 introduced me to some of my favourite characters in fiction lol. Love you Fenris, Isabella, Kasumi and Mordin...
I'm Not Calling You A Liar (just Don't Lie To Me) I'm not calling you a liar Just don't lie to me I'm not calling you a thief Just don't steal from me I'm not calling you a ghost Just stop haunting me And I love you so much I'm gonna let you kill me There's a ghost in my lungs and it sighs in my sleep Wraps itself around my tongue as it softly speaks Then it walks, then it walks with my legs To fall, to fall, to fall at your feet There but for the grace of god go I And when you kiss me, I am happy enough to die I'm not calling you a liar, just don't lie to me And I love you so much, I'm gonna let you I'm not calling you a thief, just don't And I love you so much, I'm gonna let you I'm not calling you a ghost, just stop There's a ghost in my mouth and it talks in my sleep Wraps itself around my tongue as it softly speaks Then it walks then it walks, then it walks with my legs To fall, to fall, to fall, to fall To fall, to fall To fall, to fall, to fall, to fall, To fall, to fall, at your feet There but for the grace of god go I And when you kiss me, I am happy enough
The locations get repetitive after a while. Also simplifications of some things was a big deal, combat was much easier to understand (at least in terms of combo moves) and skills were more RPG like (tech trees), on other hand I personally (and many others) did not like simplification of Dark Spawn. While the game was still bitchin', it could not measure up to its older sibling and that is why people might "dislike" it at first, and definitely prefer the Origins.
The thing is, nothing can ever amount to Origins. When franchise starts with awesome game there are always gonna be people saying "it's nothing like the first game". The locations are repetitive for sure but in my book its much better game than inquisition which seems to be all about graphics and little about gameplay.
Well I can't compare Inquisition, since it won't properly run on my slow ass computer, I am only giving my own opinion and educated guess on other people' opinions.
Come on, say Inquisition is all about graphics ? We musn't have played the same game ! Although i like DA II for his caracters and environment (And I mean Kirkwall) Saying that that Inquisition is a weaker game is simply false. I mean loving DA II is understandable but do not be blind to improvments
This song is just haunting. I love Origins but there is something about DA2 that keeps me playing it over and over again. I pre-ordered Inquisition and I cannot wait for Tuesday to get here so I can play!!!
The storyline is better than them both. But the characters I like better in Dragon Age Origins and 2. There wasn't any good romances either. Plus, some of the areas in Inquisition are rather annoying. But it's very beautiful. All three are amazing games.
Merrill, Isabel, Anders, Varric, Bethany -- this game made you feel so attached to the characters. Somehow you could feel the years they spent together. Personally, I loved the game. Definitely worth a chance at least. The humorous dialogue options for Hawke are amazing, lmao.
This reminds me of Anders so much :'( the ending, it was just... I cried like a little baby. Origins is much better IMO, but DA 2 had a certain spell too. And this song, it's just beautiful. Amazing endgame music. Sums up Hawke's relationship with Anders.
I know right, the song brought me to tears at the end of the game ;-; Thank god I had a nice ending with Anders. I probably would've died if I took the bad one LOL
ZePomVerte when I went through this I told anders to just leave but he came back and I had to kill him I cried like a baby having to do that and to make it worse I romanced him oohh the feels when you hear this song
Exactly what I was thinking. I constantly romance Anders in the game and this song is even more heartbreaking when the Hawke you played didn't agree with Anders but went along with him anyway. (aka, my Male Mage Hawke) It reminds me of Hawke in Inquisition where Hawke mentions about Anders that he doesn't know if they ever got over the fact that Anders lied to Hawke. It's something Hawke says if he didn't agree with Anders about destroying the chantry, romanced him and let him live.
When I played I did not know where to put Anders' betrayal as he always told that it will end in ruin and he will break Hawke's heart. In DAO my elf mage liked the circle and understood it's importance like Wynne did and I always supported mages except blood mages. My mage Hawke also supported mages even tho her mother died because of blood magic. But when even Anders betrayed her...it was the very last straw on mages side.
After I beat this game I was very confused that a Florence + the Machine song played in the credits, but it made me listen to the album it was on and now it's one of my favorites so really... Dragon Age 2 made me like Florence + the Machine. Good advertising on her part
I played as a fem rogue Hawke, I was always against the Templars from day one because I always imagined her as over protective of Bethany (and Carver but he died). Plus there father was an apostate so even more reason to side mage. But then I romanced Ander because I thought it was brilliant, Hawke falls in love with an apostate like her mom before her. Then the ending comes and he destroyed the chantry, I just couldn't bring myself to forgive him but I couldn't kill him either. I broke off the romance then and imagined Hawke as completely torn up over it, (while through out the entire game I saw her as a complete badass). Them when this started playing it killed me.
It's kinda one of the more lighthearted Dragon Age games for the most part, it just so happens to have an ending where no one truly wins. Pretty much the Game of Thrones of all the games.
You know I read on a article where people were advising a guy to play dragon age origins but to give DA2 a miss, as its 'crap'. Yes it was annoying being stuck in the city, it was linier, etc. But it was still a good game with a fantastic story, combat and characters. Screw anyone who thinks they speak for DA fans when they go on about the second game being rubbish.
I'm Not Calling You A *Liar* = Varric I'm Not Calling You A *Thief* = Isabel And I'm Not Calling You A *Ghost* = Fenris And I Love You So Much I'm Gonna Let You.......I'm Not Calling You A *Ghost* Just Stop Haunting Me, And I Love You So Much, I'm Gonna Let You...Kill Me = Anders There's A *Ghost* In My Lungs And It Sighs In My *Sleep* ....To Fall, To Fall, To Fall At Your Feet = Merrill There But For The Grace Of God Go I...And When You Kiss Me I Am Happy Enough = Aveline
I've been listening to Florence Music for quite some time and I've also been a fan of the Dragon Age Series and yet It took me to this point until I've found this music. Truly Beautiful.
Unpopular opinion but *THIS* feeling is what DA:I lacks. When you sitting in front of the credits speechless. The hero of ferelden fought so hard and in Inquisiton you can see that, everyone hates the grey wardens. Hawke's journey was like: You take one step forward, two steps back. Cassandra and the others only saw 2 icons. They only needed the Warden or Hawke because they already had an influence. They treated them as puppets. Alistair knew where she is. Varric knew where he is. But they only shared this information when it was REALLY necessary. They saw how the world treated the Warden and Hawke. They just wanted them to get a happy ending. Hawke's and my Warden's entire life was a fight. They fought for their titles, and for the respect of others. When it comes to the Inquisitor. Idk...it felt like she was at the right place, at the right time. Your hand glows green sooo.... everyone loves you know I guess. But that's just me mumbling.
inquisition lacks everything. From how the characters look and how the qunari race looks (omg), to how the inquisitor is treated by everyone. Like you are 15 minutes in the game, you closed your first rift for no reason and with zero effort, and you are already a hero and everyone in the haven bow to you. And these dumb cringe moments are everywhere through the game The only bright side was the trespasser dlc, that felt like it was literally made by different team because of how good it was
I'll always love DRagon Age 2. It's what first got me into the series, and I love DAI with every fiber of my being but this will always hold a special place in my heart.
i agree, but the community is so dumb to hate this game for some minor cons like copy paste locations and no race choices, and now what the community gets is cyberpunk 2077, forspoken and other trash
I really loved the interactions of the characters in DAII; the way they feel about certain things, about the main character and each other. I think that while the story of DAII is setting up the civil war between mages and templars for Inquistion, the main highlight of the story is Hawke and his/her relations with his/her companions. The story of this game has a special place in my heart because it made me think on my actions. In fact,I was very surprised to find out that being diplomatic all the time does not help at all. Anyways, moving on to my conclusion, this song reminded me so much of the 40 hours I've spent interacting with other characters. Can't wait for Inquistion :D
DA2 was probably my favorite out of the three, just because of Hawke. They are my overall favorite character and I got so attached. The companions in DA2 in my opinion, were the most likeable and the most interesting. Sure, it lacked connection to the main story, sure, locations were repetitive BUT it was still a memorable and fun game and hearing this song at the end of it, sealed the deal for me. I love that they used such a powerful song for it's end.
even though it had these copy paste locations it never bothered me through my 4 or 5 playthroughs And how great it retconned some of the aspects of the first da, like qunari appearance and flemeth appearance was really great, too bad that inquisition destroyed everything
I thought the story and characters were better than any other dragon age game (bearing in mind I'm only 5 hours into origins), but the game definitely had its flaws. Textures and whole areas were brazenly reused, the world felt very small, and the combat was wave based.
+Ethan Djeric I like Inquisition the best just for the Wicked Grace cut scene. That ending was pure gold. I haven't laughed that hard at anything in Dragon Age until that part. And here I thought sarcastic Hawke was amazing. All of Hawke's sarcasm was just trumped by one scene.
I think is funny that people who loved this game uses the ''Varric storytelling'' argument. Why the scenarios is so lazy?because Varric can't say much details about the place. Why the combat looks like an anime fight?because Varric wants to make Hawke a badass. Why the quests with Varric are more detailed?because he was there.
honestly, it's pretty true. Why should Varric spend the time detailing the nooks and crannies of the various caves and dungeons Hawke goes into? People don't care about that sort of thing unless it's an amazing cave or dungeon, so just saying 'we went into a cave' is probably how he covers most of them.
I can't even tell you how much emotions went through me when I finished the game and this song started playing. There's just something extremely beautiful in DA2.. Ough, so many tears
god dang i just freaking love the games and the music ..... i cant believe it too me so long before i started to play them ..... and now i cant go 1 day without it hahaha
This comment is going up be a ramble bc I just finished it last night. Hearing this song, while you sit there, watching the credits roll...hits different. I heard the song before I finished the game so I was like "oh yeah this is cool" Now I understand why it was at the end. This was the first DA game I picked up, back in 2014-15, and due to circumstances I wasn't able to finish it until last night. Bittersweet in that way, and now I just have this sense of overall sadness and grief for Hawke and the entire situation. It really feels like there could have literally been no way to prevent or even get out of that situation, and no matter what, the whole thing was just fucked. Origins left me exhilarated. 2 left me depressed. That's the big difference between the two titles, I think. In Origins, you won, in a way. In 2, there was no winning. And worse yet, you had the chance to lose literally everyone along the way, and while in Origins there's definitely a way to do that, it feels more like people are really willing to stick by you, even if they disagree. I almost lost Fenris but managed to keep him on in my fight against the templars, but I lost Isabela and Carver in that playthrough. I could have killed Anders though my Hawke decided that he needed to see the consequences of his actions, so he stayed on (plus, healing. Unfortunately he's the only healer and I'm probably going to make my next playthrough a Spirit Healer so I can yeet him). Anyway I loved this game, even if it didn't quite have the same "flavor" as Origins--which I actually think is a good thing. It's like siblings: they all come from the same place and have similarities but are also completely different. OH SPEAKING OF ANDERS: first of all, what the fuck, and 2nd of all, THE WAY F!HAWKE SOUNDED SO ANGUISHED ONCE SHE REALIZES WHAT ANDERS DID/WHAT SHE HELPED DO?? "You're a murderer. The blood of all these people are on your hands" My soul left my body
I finally got to the part in Inquisition where I meet Hawke and I was like GRACE (name of my Hawke) MY TRAGIC BELOVED I'M GONNA CRY. And now I'm here listening to this song just because. T_T This would be the one game I would erase my memory of so I could feel how I felt playing it again.
@@moonlusterblack inquisition is such a trash game. Like they made the inquisitor bully hawke for not being able to kill corypheus, and the inquisitor is so cool and so brave and strong that he would have definately killed him
So I just made a choice in Inquisition. I wont spoil it for "new" players. But I'll say this. Listening to song right after you make that choice and remembering DA2 is not the most emotionally stable thing to do
ive heard this song at the end of this game and on the season finale of pretty little liars... they were both used in a powerful way and made me cry both times
I loved Origins, I loved Awakening, and I think I may have loved Dragon Age II the most. After Meredith died and I watched Varric tell the last of our story, I felt a little sad because the game was over, and I had no sequel to pick up right away. Then the credits started rolling and this song played and I felt the strangest sense of loss I had ever felt, and it was towards a video game. To be honest, I even teared up. I'm seriously looking forward to DA3.
One of the most influencing and amazing games I've ever played. Actually, it's on top of them all. I'd play it over and over. I'm going to start playing it again tomorrow x)
Still my favourite game out of the three. I'm hoping the 4th one will be a bit like DA2 in the feeling of connecting with the characters as friends instead of companions and a less "hero to save the world" character but with the graphics of Inquisition and the world building of Origins.
I finished DA 2 just few days ago. Still great game even after all this years. Now I am playing Origins. In my opinion really undereated game. Best RPG i played since Witcher 3.
da2 is really underrated game in my opinion too. But was the witcher 3 really that good? It is not even a rpg. For me it is just a movie game like those quantic dream games, but with choices that never matter
I have known this song for a long time, in the album version from Florence + the machine. I've just finished Dragon Age 2 and I really loved the epic final battle, and all the thing going on between mages and templars... And then, this song plays out and I'm like "whaaaaaaat !!!!!!"......... With a special arrangement for the game... that was amazing. I love when games does that haha. Little surprises like that. Love Florence + the machine too so :')
despite what people say... movies and games are actually a great way to learn of new music, wonderful music indeed... I had honestly never heard of this band before DA2, now i love them, and this song...
when i first finished the game (and was surprised there wasnt more), when this song came on with da music to go with florence and the machine's vocals, i was blown away. definitely the best or second best track in the sountracks
This song was extremely beautiful... It really is one of the most epic ending songs to an extremely epic game which has captured my heart for until the day I die.
It's extra sad when you have Hawke die in the fade in DAI. I know there are theories they could've survived but I find it unlikely and ultimately more true to end his/her story.
I have to admit the first time I had this game was when it originally came out ans I some how glitches Isabellas mission and was locked in it. Last week I revought it for a other go and.....dayum! This game is simple in nature and give few places to go but the story and details were amazing. So glad I gave it a second go!!
Am i the only one who killed Anders out of mercy? I literally cried when I chose to do that. He was my friend all along. I am a pro-mages through and through. But someone have to end his suffering, before he died as an abomination, a creature he hates most. He wants justice and freedom... so I gave him by mercy kill. It's a justice and freedom too.
+niebells I honestly couldn't do it. My Hawke romanced him, and thinking about what my character would do, she couldn't. So instead, she chose to run away from him and protect him. (I also personally couldn't do it. He's one of my favorite characters in all of Dragon Age.)
It was especially difficult to make that choice because of the time you spend with him in DAO Awakening. He was extremely light hearted in that dlc and obviously his experiences took their toll on him seeing how much more serious he was in DAII.
My choice was the same with you, I killed him out of mercy. It is physically painful seeing him losing himself, that is just so sad. My Hawke romance him too but I just felt, no this is just too far, you're hurting as well, I cant see you go on like this... and killed him
I couldn't kill him. Maybe I should've, but my Hawke romanced him and though I know the way I've written my character means their relationship will suffer a bit because of what Anders did, I know Hawke still loves him and it would have broken him if he had killed him. Also, the way Hawke kills Anders seems kind of cruel. A stab in the back on a spot that makes him die from blood loss probably.
dragon age 2 was one of the most amazing games I've ever played, but most people say that origins is better, if it's true I'm gonna shed tears of happiness playing it
I feel like this is just the perfect song for the Solavellan hell. I'm sure girls, who share my love/hate attitude to Solas would understand. He's a liar, he concealed his true identity and the reason why we got into all that mess in the Inquisition. He's a thief, he stole many things, Lavellan's heart, Mythal's power, as well as the best crafted gear I gave him when he left at the end lol =) He's a ghost haunting Lavellan in her dreams. And I don't know about you, but my Lavellan certainly loves Solas so much she would let him kill her if it comes to that.
I beat the game like a week or two after it came out. The first play-through is always the best. Everything i did i kept and never went back and changed. As a mage I sided with the circle and fell for Anders sob story and even spared his life. When i heard this song at the end I couldn't help but think of everything that happened in the game. The stage is set for Dragon Age 3 and I have a feeling that is done right it could be Dragon Age yet.
I love this game with every fiber of my being. I got to know it the day it came out, because I was really looking forward to it after Origins and Awakening. And you know what, they are different games. Origins is an epic telling us about so many significant events that it's hard to count them. Dragon Age 2 in turn is a local history game. It is about the person, who confidently walked forward through the hardships, stumbling yet unstoppable. It is about a man who lost everything and gained something new. This game has a lot of flaws, but it is Hawke's story that more than covers them all. I have played it a dozen times, and I will definitely play it again just to experience those very feelings. The grief, the sadness, the satisfaction of accomplishment.
I recently found out Florence + the Machine make awesome music, only hearing this song again after almost 2 years from beating DA2 do I realize it's the same band. Bioware! More Florence + the machine in your games!
People say that DA2 is the worst game out of all the Dragon Age games, but I think that the plot and characters were way better than Inquisition. Yes, you can see how it was rushed, but I got so attached to the characters.
This song is just... awesome, i was kind of hoping some kind of epic battle theme thingy like in Origins, but then I got this song, can't believe i actually cried a bit... I don't care what other people say, this game is the only game where I actually cried when it's over, awesome.
The first time I was playing the game , I chose to side with the mages and the reason entirely was because Bethany was taken into the circle of magi. I felt like I had to protect Bethany at all cost since she's Hawk's sister. I didnt know that if I took her and Anders into the Deep Road, she would be a grey warden because I chose not to bring her along. I couldn't resist Hawk's mother eyes that were so desperately wanted me on not to bring Bethany along In the end I was so glad that I was with the mages since Meredith was crazy and wrongfully judging and punishing the mages because of the red lyrium
Defiantly a lot different then the original. When I hear this, it doesn't exactly remind of Dragon Age, but hopefully it will fit the game well enough.
@GOINxPOSTAL Exactly, and i also think it fits because, its as if the whole game is about trust and friendship. And thats exactly what this song is trying to say. In the game you build friendships and romance with the other characters and stuff and based on what you do ultimately decides what happens to everyone and perhaps to you in the very end and also what cassandra will think about you. So the song does fit perfectly, i got so emotional when i beat this game, i never want DA games to end.
I was surprised that it was Florence + The Machine as the ending music. I would have played this game sooner if I found out about it. But it fit Origins more....
It's Varric's. The line "I'm not calling you a liar, just don't lie to me" refers to his relationship with Bianca. Not the crossbow the actual woman Bianca. Where she's consistently lying to him and eventually leaves him.
I really couldn't connect with Inquisition the way I did to DA2. But I think it's because the Inquisitor is incredibly plain and boring compared to the Hero of Ferelden and Hawke. I instantly fell in love with those two (especially human noble origin and mage Hawke) but I still haven't found a good enough Inquisitor after hours of gameplay.
No, in DA2 we get a story where the line between good and evil is blured out. And instead of playing a hero whose mission is laid out right from the beginning (Like; gather army and allies and fight in an epic battle where you will defeat the leader of the enemy forces), we have a person who is just trying to get by and in doing so gets caught up in events he/she can´t escape from.
I loved this song. I thought it fit the Champion and Isabella. She didn't trust him for a time and wouldn't tell him about the relic. So I think it fit their romance very well.
Well it's Varric's theme playing in the background, Florence is singing the song because it has the same tempo for I'm not calling you a lier. Makes sense for the ending song because it's, Varric's story of Hawk and what happened.
ME3 haven't came out yet at that time, but yes, I did pay me3, but I was more of confused than sad back then. Well after I got the extended cut though, it really is very emotional for me. I invested so much in that game, I fell in love with the character, and it ended. It really made me cry rivers too.
@GOINxPOSTAL Honestly, this song pretty much sums up everything about Dragon Age 2, and it's a song that could tear my heart out of my chest, had I not chained it to my ribcage years ago.
I always hated the templars throughout the game. They disgusted me with how they treated the mages. All over the use of blood magic. I felt they needed to feel some consequence when i sided with the mages and looked to eliminate the templars. As of Anders I dragged him along side me maybe to let him set things right. I would have done the same thing in Anders position to be honest. The Circle does not solve anything. You either go to The Circle and serve the templars and be prisoners or die. It's just too much injustice on their part.
+Nystheros96 I sided with the Templars and Meredith on everything and i enjoyed annulling the Kirlkwall circle. Mages are dangerous and deserve no mercy. I jerked off after killing Anders
+Tamerlane Mages are tortured souls. No escape and ridiculed. I look at them as how my people (Native Americans) and think that we're no different. They should not cry or die because of who they are. There has to be a way to keep the demons at bay without killing all mages. If it's easy, it's not worth it. If it's worth it, it's not easy.
DashingNative That is a very well written and thoughtful response to a rather disturbing comment. I found Tamberlane's comment of how he enjoys mass slaughtering a group of people(including the children and elders) merely because of how they were born disgusting. The only good thing about that comment is that it was aimed at a fictional group and not real people.....
Man...with that cliffhanger ending...all that build up...Dragon Age 3 has the potential to be the best game I have ever played. If you fuck THIS one up EA, then I swear to you I will KILL you.
Guys i'm pretty much in love with Dragon Age:Origin and Dragon Age 2.... but i think this song would probably be perfect with Assasins Creed 4 ending, if you don't belive me just play this music while watching the Black Flag ending.
Actually, this song is credited as "I'm Not Calling you a Liar (Dragon Age II: Varric's Theme Song)" in the Original Soundtrack. Though I'm having a hard time deciding why it's Varric's Theme. Is it because of his love to Bianca, or his love to Hawke (female... or male?). Though I love its arrangement.
Am I the only one who noticed that near the end of the credits it says the title of this song and then "Dragon Age II - Varric's Theme", despite the fact that the lyrics of the song are romantic and Varric is the only companion you can't romance?
Everyone says "how sad Hawke's life is", but nothing sadder than being a Cousland: your family is betrayed by your father's right hand. You face the murder of all your loved ones: your night of love with Dairren ends badly, in his death. Then you find your sister-in-law and your nephew dead (a little boy who was just beginning to live), then you face the fall of your home, you find your teacher and your nanny killed. You say goodbye to your lifelong friend knowing that you will never see him again. In the end, you run away from home, leaving behind your parents, who sacrifice their last minutes so that you can escape alive.Your warden does not know what happens to your brother, depending on what you choose, you can see him again or not.
Hawke’s will always be my favourite.. his life is just sad.. the part where his mother was killed.. I lost my mind.. murdered everyone in that mission.
I really liked it but i didnt play much of the first but i loved this game and once this came on the credits (I had never heard it) i just though "Best game i have played since KOTOR"
Dragon Age 2 is one of those games that will always feel like home to me.
No kidding ☺
Yes.
Glad I'm not the only one that feels this way
100%
Could not agree with you more :)
On days when i felt so depressed dw to face reality, fantasizing them as my friends got me through
@@Fenrispro we all do what we can with the time that has been giving to us :)
Just started inquisition, when does he appear?
Maru'sArcade He appears after you move to the main Inquisition keep (sorry, Ik it has a name but it’s been a while) it’s after you meet Allistair or Stroud depending on your choices in your previous games.
EDIT: I finished Inquisition a little later after I posted the original comment, the game gets a whole lot better n I really enjoyed it
I finally finished dragon age 2 yesterday and I got the very same feeling
And then this played just when I was getting seriously depressed, it's such a good game that way but it also had an anticlimactic ending just hand over the book to leliana and then the game comes to a close
What happened between then and inquisition with everyone, when hawke is talked to about it he/she doesn't mention much, aside from they went their separate ways, and Merrill went back to Kirkwall to help whoever was left from the war between the mages and templars
"I was trying to protect my friend, you people have done enough to him"-Varric ;-;
This quote makes me cry so much
"you ruin a perfectly good best friend, look at it, it has depression"
- varric, probably
Dragon Age and Mass Effect will always hold a special place in my heart.
Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2 especially.
I wasn't ready to let go of the characters I grew to love in DA2... and ME2 introduced me to some of my favourite characters in fiction lol.
Love you Fenris, Isabella, Kasumi and Mordin...
were there greater rpg games in the history of gaming in your opinion?
I'm Not Calling You A Liar (just Don't Lie To Me)
I'm not calling you a liar
Just don't lie to me
I'm not calling you a thief
Just don't steal from me
I'm not calling you a ghost
Just stop haunting me
And I love you so much
I'm gonna let you kill me
There's a ghost in my lungs and it sighs in my sleep
Wraps itself around my tongue as it softly speaks
Then it walks, then it walks with my legs
To fall, to fall, to fall at your feet
There but for the grace of god go I
And when you kiss me,
I am happy enough to die
I'm not calling you a liar,
just don't lie to me
And I love you so much,
I'm gonna let you
I'm not calling you a thief,
just don't
And I love you so much,
I'm gonna let you
I'm not calling you a ghost,
just stop
There's a ghost in my mouth and it talks in my sleep
Wraps itself around my tongue as it softly speaks
Then it walks then it walks, then it walks with my legs
To fall, to fall, to fall, to fall To fall, to fall To fall, to fall, to fall, to fall, To fall, to fall, at your feet
There but for the grace of god go I
And when you kiss me,
I am happy enough
I don't get the hate against this game. I really don't.
LosEagle I blame DLC characters lol
This song is just haunting. I love Origins but there is something about DA2 that keeps me playing it over and over again. I pre-ordered Inquisition and I cannot wait for Tuesday to get here so I can play!!!
I don't know what you're talking about, the game comes out today, on Monday, September 17.
Dragon Age Inquisition is the best Dragon Age to date. It was amazingly beautiful!
cPolonium It's great but not in the same league as Origins and 2 in my opinion.
(aka, my Male Mage Hawke)
It reminds me of Hawke in Inquisition where Hawke mentions about Anders that he doesn't know if they ever got over the fact that Anders lied to Hawke.
What happened to your Hawke in Inquisition?
im addicted to tragic romances. i romance anders then murder him. I romanced solas too
It's kinda one of the more lighthearted Dragon Age games for the most part, it just so happens to have an ending where no one truly wins.
I ain't calling you a truther!
I finally got it o_o
@@noNO-qb6lkgot what?

calaaero O.O
So true ;A; *listens to this song obsessively just because it reminds me of DA2 so much* oh the feels
calaaero At least I got Bethany to live to the end.
***** [SPOILERS] Mhmm, but that depends on your class+choices? It's possible for her to die
Finally someone realizes that it was a good game thank you thank you thank you
I've been listening to Florence Music for quite some time and I've also been a fan of the Dragon Age Series and yet It took me to this point until I've found this music.
And these dumb cringe moments are everywhere through the game
The only bright side was the trespasser dlc, that felt like it was literally made by different team because of how good it was
I'll always love DRagon Age 2. It's what first got me into the series, and I love DAI with every fiber of my being but this will always hold a special place in my heart.
dai is a trash game compared to the bioware masterpieces, last of which were mass effect 3 and dragon age 2
Most serious, darkest story with no good vs bad morale; best Dragon Age
i agree, but the community is so dumb to hate this game for some minor cons like copy paste locations and no race choices, and now what the community gets is cyberpunk 2077, forspoken and other trash
I love that they used such a powerful song for it's end.
even though it had these copy paste locations it never bothered me through my 4 or 5 playthroughs
And how great it retconned some of the aspects of the first da, like qunari appearance and flemeth appearance was really great, too bad that inquisition destroyed everything
In my opinion, this was the best dragon age. I thought this game was great
I thought the story and characters were better than any other dragon age game (bearing in mind I'm only 5 hours into origins), but the game definitely had its flaws.
All of Hawke's sarcasm was just trumped by one scene.
so did I. I thought it had more structure.
A game that will stay with me forever, and a tune to go with it :)
I can't even tell you how much emotions went through me when I finished the game and this song started playing. There's just something extremely beautiful in DA2.. Ough, so many tears
The gameplay was clearly worse, but the story of DA2 was by far the best in the series.
So true. It's so good. I was wondering what would happen next every single second of the game.
god dang i just freaking love the games and the music ..... i cant believe it too me so long before i started to play them ..... and now i cant go 1 day without it hahaha
This comment is going up be a ramble bc I just finished it last night.
Hearing this song, while you sit there, watching the credits roll...hits different.
I heard the song before I finished the game so I was like "oh yeah this is cool"
Now I understand why it was at the end.
The blood of all these people are on your hands"
My soul left my body
I finally got to the part in Inquisition where I meet Hawke and I was like GRACE (name of my Hawke) MY TRAGIC BELOVED I'M GONNA CRY. And now I'm here listening to this song just because. T_T This would be the one game I would erase my memory of so I could feel how I felt playing it again.
Hawke’s story is sad no matter how hard you try to make it a happy one.
@@moonlusterblack inquisition is such a trash game. Like they made the inquisitor bully hawke for not being able to kill corypheus, and the inquisitor is so cool and so brave and strong that he would have definately killed him
I LOVE this. It's just so powerful and emotional . . . thank you for posting it!! :)
So I just made a choice in Inquisition. I wont spoil it for "new" players. But I'll say this. Listening to song right after you make that choice and remembering DA2 is not the most emotionally stable thing to do
I made the choice too and coming back, knowing this is like Varric’s song… wah (like a babies cry).
Better than the original, to be honest.
ive heard this song at the end of this game and on the season finale of pretty little liars...
they were both used in a powerful way and made me cry both times
I loved Origins, I loved Awakening, and I think I may have loved Dragon Age II the most.
After Meredith died and I watched Varric tell the last of our story, I felt a little sad because the game was over, and I had no sequel to pick up right away. Then the credits started rolling and this song played and I felt the strangest sense of loss I had ever felt, and it was towards a video game. To be honest, I even teared up.
I'm seriously looking forward to DA3.
Recently finally got the chance to play this. I already knew what was going to happen.
Still hurt.
Just played through Dragon Age 2 again, what a great song.
One of the most influencing and amazing games I've ever played.
Actually, it's on top of them all. I'd play it over and over.
I'm going to start playing it again tomorrow x)
Spotify, i want, i NEED this song in my playlist, pleaseeeeee!
But "I ain't callin' you a truther."
Thank you for the best years of my life Dragon Age franchise
I played this during the ending of my first route in Fire Emblem Three Houses. The feels.....
I hope they keep the comradeship from Dragon Age Inquisition for Dragon Age 4. I loved the little interactions your companions had with each other.
I wonder who or what band will grace DA Inquisition's credits with its beautiful music. :D
This song was extremely beautiful... It really is one of the most epic ending songs to an extremely epic game which has captured my heart for until the day I die.
It's extra sad when you have Hawke die in the fade in DAI. I know there are theories they could've survived but I find it unlikely and ultimately more true to end his/her story.
even the idiоt inquisitor survived the fade and the ancor explosion, there is no way hawke dies this easy in my opinion
This song fit..really well. I can't describe how I feel about it, it was just great.
This song would fit in well with Dragon Age Inquisition!
Your right friend
+Sionnanful ^ Same.
A stab in the back on a spot that makes him die from blood loss probably.
dragon age 2 was one of the most amazing games I've ever played, but most people say that origins is better, if it's true I'm gonna shed tears of happiness playing it
"WELL YOU AINT CALLIN ME A TRUTHER"
its going to be epic! cant wait for the release
I feel like this is just the perfect song for the Solavellan hell. I'm sure girls, who share my love/hate attitude to Solas would understand.
He's a liar, he concealed his true identity and the reason why we got into all that mess in the Inquisition. He's a thief, he stole many things, Lavellan's heart, Mythal's power, as well as the best crafted gear I gave him when he left at the end lol =)
He's a ghost haunting Lavellan in her dreams.
And I don't know about you, but my Lavellan certainly loves Solas so much she would let him kill her if it comes to that.
Is this theme really played at the ending? I love Florence, my fav one is Howl in an mv
Im satisfied with the ending of this game, the song just made it feel even more epic :D
"I'm not Calling you a Liar"
"Just don't lie to me..."
Isabela : "No shit,"
I couldn't resist Hawk's mother eyes that were so desperately wanted me on not to bring Bethany along
In the end I was so glad that I was with the mages since Meredith was crazy and wrongfully judging and punishing the mages because of the red lyrium
this song bring tears to my eyes
And that was how I met Florence + the machine. Thank you Bioware! XD
I love this version of this song.
I was surprised that it was Florence + The Machine as the ending music. I would have played this game sooner if I found out about it. But it fit Origins more....
It fits Varric. That's why they included it at the end. If you knew the story of Bianca, you would understand the purpose of the song.
Lucas Blake But, that's the story Varric will never tell because it's so seeecret. Looking for what it is destroys the enjoyment of the mystery.
"I'm going to let you kill me."
It's Anders' theme.
It's Varric's. The line "I'm not calling you a liar, just don't lie to me" refers to his relationship with Bianca. Not the crossbow the actual woman Bianca. Where she's consistently lying to him and eventually leaves him.
Lucas Blake Yeah, except that's not what happened. You meet Bianca in DA: I
I can't wait fo inquisition now im so pumped
And now you're probably disappointed.
I love this combination!!!!! I can't wait for dragon age 3!!!!!!!
The most sad about Hawke its meanwhile more his legend grows more he losses in the way and in the end you cant avoid the questio, it was worth it??
😢
No, in DA2 we get a story where the line between good and evil is blured out. And instead of playing a hero whose mission is laid out right from the beginning (Like; gather army and allies and fight in an epic battle where you will defeat the leader of the enemy forces), we have a person who is just trying to get by and in doing so gets caught up in events he/she can´t escape from.
I loved this song. I thought it fit the Champion and Isabella. She didn't trust him for a time and wouldn't tell him about the relic. So I think it fit their romance very well.
Is anyone else thinking of Varric while listening to this song?
Well it's Varric's theme playing in the background, Florence is singing the song because it has the same tempo for I'm not calling you a lier. Makes sense for the ending song because it's, Varric's story of Hawk and what happened.
NPJoey13 That makes a lot of sense. Now I need to get the soundtrack.
+Nystheros96 :/
+Nystheros96 I sided with the Templars and Meredith on everything and i enjoyed annulling the Kirlkwall circle. Mages are dangerous and deserve no mercy.
I jerked off after killing Anders
😕🙅
:D I can't wait! I am currently having a blast in Skyrim with the Dragonborn DLC.
Man...with that cliffhanger ending...all that build up...Dragon Age 3 has the potential to be the best game I have ever played.
If you fuck THIS one up EA, then I swear to you I will KILL you.
Say what you want about Dragon Age 2 but the song is pretty sick
hawke deserve a better ending, at least sequel, hope to see my hawke as a protagonist in DA4
I didn't knew that but thank you for your answer:)
LordTomas92
It's because Varric was the one retelling the whole story? And the Seeker constantly interrupted accusing him of making stuff up.
You are right, it was kind of emotive seeing how the protagonist remembered his friends. But at the same time i felt the music was kinda... off.
Am I the only one who noticed that near the end of the credits it says the title of this song and then "Dragon Age II - Varric's Theme", despite the fact that the lyrics of the song are romantic and Varric is the only companion you can't romance?
I literally JUST beat the game. And i was like WTF florence?
I am pleasantly surprised. And I LOVE the version they did
They should have played this if you choose hawke to hold off the archdemon it would have seriously upgraded his/her sacrifice.
That would’ve made me fuckin’ cry man… I wish they did this too.
This song really hurts my heart... with a good way
@ozoztrk theres going to be 3 parts of the soundtrack? guess thats why a lot of the character themes were missing from the one currently on iTunes.
Anders....Why?
27Nichy i still ask myself this
27Nichy Maker Akbar
+silver23768 lol
Thsi is literally the best version (from the DA2 cedits) that i could find cause i hate the live pereformance vids
Yup it’s like the red wedding
Hawke’s will always be my favourite.. his life is just sad.. the part where his mother was killed.. I lost my mind.. murdered everyone in that mission.
I love dragon age 2 and Florence and the Machine!!
"Why do they call it a brothel? Does it have something to do with broth?"
I really liked it but i didnt play much of the first but i loved this game and once this came on the credits (I had never heard it) i just though "Best game i have played since KOTOR"
I see I'm not the only one who was paralyzed... Such an amazing game!
