- A jury awarded a former Novant Health executive $10 million after winning a discrimination suit in Federal Court Tuesday.
David Duvall said he lost his job as a senior vice president of marketing and communication at Novant due to the company's effort to diversify leadership. Duvall claims he was fired because he is a white man.

Also plenty of racism at the nursing/MD provider level here! And you won’t really know about the racism until your all ready working there for a couple of months. There are really good depts at Novant with multiple racial backgrounds working together in peace. Many get frustrated and quit due to racism in some depts! and don’t have the lawyer resources to sue… This man did.. while I don’t usually give the c-suite level executives credit he deserves every penny. Racism and discrimination is just that no matter what race! I love all races btw..
One thing that all the news is silent about is EXACTLY what did he do wrong as the company claims in his job? Was it subjective? Could what he did wrong be quantified by objective metrics? Its amazing how the little that is fleshed out and discussed
