Hello Driving School WA, I just want to say thank you very much for providing this helpful video! I watched your other videos too before my driving test 😊 I passed the driving test at Cannington 👍🏻
This channel has been a great source of helpful content. I have an overseas driving license and since last year I've been taking some classes to be able to drive here in Australia (Sydney). Every time I take a class my driving instructors tell me that I drive well (I just need more practice). But when I need to practice by myself, I'm terrified. I avoid doing it as irrational thoughts start coming to my mind (accidents, not being able to park properly, holding up the traffic when turning right on an unprotected turn because I won't be able to judge the exact time to turn, etc). Sometimes I called my friends who drive, so that they can be with me in the passenger's seat and give me any helpful tip. The point is, if I have someone with me, I can drive well, but by myself I feel scared and stiff. Have you ever had a student like me? How did you help them to overcome their fear of driving alone? Thanks for the wonderful content.
Hi, I find your videos so helpful but just had a question at 3:03 why is it that you have to indicate right when you’re already on the road if you know what I mean? I understand indicating left to pull over. Thank you!
When you drive forward after reversing out of a driveway you don't need to indicate to the right as you have reversed onto your path and are just driving forward.
when pulling out of the driveway and you're already straight on your side of the Rd, why do you have to indicate right? When driving straight only to then indicate left? I understand that you have to indicate the way that the tail of the car is turning while reversing out of the driveway but unsure why you have to then indicate when you're already sat straight on your side of the rd?
@@DrivingSchoolWA when we drive our car out from driveway and straight the car and then we should give the right indicator Only...bcoz we r driving off thats why right indicator...got it..above person comment confused me after saying left indicator ??? We dont use left indicator while driving off🤔..or while taking out car from driveway..should we??
Hi I’m so confused even after having my license for 40 years When driving the rule is You DO NOT indicate if you are reversing out of a drive way? You DO NOT indicate when reversing into a parking bay (after you initially indicate to pull alongside a car for 3 seconds)? You DO indicate to parallel park? You DO indicate when leaving a car parking bay for 5 seconds? When doing left something behind you just indicate for 3 flashes turn off the indicator put in park, hand break on? Is this correct?? I'm getting so confused
Will this be accepted? Cause my instructor said it’s better to reverse into the driveway! I feel the exercise must be best what suits you! Right or wrong. And I don’t want to argue with my instructor as I find most of your tutorials very very good and I apply it when I drive, thanks so much!👍
We currently don't have instructors in Mandurah unfortunatelly. The instructor who worked for us in Mandurah, retired 2 years ago. Good luck with your test!
I got an instant fail yesterday while doing left something behind and the reason for that I crossed the property line ( crossed the mail box) onto private property I had no idea this even existed if I did I would’ve most definitely passed my pda
Hey Driving School WA, thanks for this informative session. I just wanted to ask a question related to hand brake. I could see that your vehicle has a manual hand brake. I have a Subaru Forestor which has electronic hand brake. Can I use this vehicle for PDA or is it not acceptable at all. Please let me know soon as my PDA is scheduled next week.
I am going for my manual licence and I am wondering if I can use a centrally mounted electronic handbrake. For reference it is a handbrake from a Volkswagen golf. When activated it holds the car in place until the car moves and the handbrake automatically releases itself.
Some candidates who used cars of the same description were knocked back by the assessor while others didn't have problems. I just recently spoke to someone who turned up for his PDA with a brand new ute with a canopy and got declined because of the rear-view restriction. Sadly the Department and their employees have double standards mate. It's best to ring them 131156, ask to speak to a senior consultant and advise them of your intentions (voice record your conversation as proof if any discrepancies). Let us know how you go! Good luck
@@DrivingSchoolWA I believe that assessors have the option to decline the PDA if there is an electronic hand brake for their own safety so I would email them to see if you will be able to use it.
Check both sides (in case someone is going a bit wide from the right-hand side), in this scenario if someone appears from the left you have to stop and wait
Hi do you offer driving lessons? I need to find a good driving instructor ASAP looking to do my test at kelmscott and parking lessons In cannington. I can't find you listed as an instructor on your website?
You don't have to turn the engine off. Some unreasonable assessors for some strange reason would say to turn it of, but not often. So, my advice, if you stopped (not parked and leaving the car) just keep it in the 1st gear before you are ready to take off again
yes, I overshoot the spot (house frontage) I was parket at and used it's driveway to turn around. The idea is to return as soon as and as easily as possible. No it doesn't need to be a different house
@@DrivingSchoolWA in many of the newer suburbs e.g. Butler the distance from the kerb to letter boxes is often between 2 and 4m, meaning most cars will not be able to stop in the driveway without either crossing the letter box line or else having the back of the car stick out into the road, which makes it much more difficult to position the car correctly after reversing. There are very few roads where the distance from kerb to letter box is 5m or more, which is ideally what is needed to use a driveway to turn around. Do Assessors always ensure the left something behind exercise is conducted on streets where there is enough space to use driveways to turn around or is there a chance of the exercise being conducted on a street where there is insufficient space to use driveways?

Hey can I please have a lesson with you?
My driving instructor has told me to always use a drive way to turn, will Rockingham pass me if I use other turning methods in this video?
Your instructor is wrong. Standards are the same in all centres including Rockingham
Can you choose any manoeuvre for left something behind.? Or must you do what the examiner wants? Thanks!
It's usualy your choice, but if you miss a good opportunity and travel futher to do something else, you would lose points unforetunately.

When using the reversing to turn around, do you have to go back to the same side of the street? I can’t see how you end up at the same house
you go past the spot and have to turn again to end up in the same spot
so if Revers out driveway i should wait both sides comming cars or only my left side?

I think the easiest way is just do a right hand turn in a drive way and do it again to get back rather than attempting the U turns.
Yeah, that's the most common way but if the closest option is a side street they expect you to make a u turn. Thanks for the comment
